Abstract:Four specimens of Macronous gularis were collected in Longgang Natural Reserve, Guangxi. It is a new record of bird species in Guangxi. The specimens have been kept in College of Animal Science and Technology, Guangxi University. And Macronous gularis is the second dominant species of the understory birds in Longgang Natural Reserve.

Abstract:A survey of birds was conducted in Guangxi from 2004,five new records(three species and two subspecies) were detected.They are Picumnus innominatus malayorum,Copsychus saularis erimelas,Turdus mupinensis,Pellorneum ticklelli and Stachyris ambigua.Their brief morphological characteristic and specimen were reported.In addition,their classification and distribution were discussed preliminarily in this paper.

Abstract:A specimen of White-spectacled Warbler Seicercus affinis was collected in Diding Nature Reserve in Jingxi County, Southwest Guangxi province in December 2006. It is a new record of bird species in Guangxi. During our field investigation in Diding Nature Reserve from January 2005 to May 2007, Seicercus affinis were observed frequently in the underbrush of the evergreen broad-leaved forest and the shrub around agricultural land at an altitude of 500-700 m. There are two subspecies of Seicercus affinis recorded in the world, but only one in China. Through a careful examination, this specimen was identified as Seicercus affinis intermedius. The distribution of Seicercus affinis in China will be discussed in this paper. The specimen was kept at the College of Animal Sciences and Technology, Guangxi University.

Abstract:Several scientific invesitigations have conducted in Gansu Province since 1987 and ten kinds of birds specimens were collected during these years. These specimens were identified as Eastern White Peli-can(Pelecanus onocrotalus), Ruddy Crake(Porzana fusca), Little Bustard(Otis tetrax), Pomarine Skua(Ster-corarius pomarinus), Tibetan Sandgrouse(Syrrhaptes tibetanus), Snowy Owl(Nyctea scandiaca), Long-tailed Mountain Thrush(oothera dixoni), Penduline Tit(Remiz pendulinus), Goldfinch(Carduelis ambigus) and Red-winged Shrike Babbler(Ptesottws flaviscapis). This is the first record of these species in Gansu Province. The specimens of seven species have collected: Pomarine Skua, Tibetan Sandgrouse, Snowy Owl, Long-tailed Mountain Thrush, Goldfinch, Red-winged Shrike Babbler and the specimens of the rest birds have been watched.

Abstract:From 2004 to 2012, we conducted a long-term series of surveys of birds in 16 areas in the largely limestone area of south-west Guangxi, south China. A total of 304 bird species (192 resident, 44 summer visitors, 62 winter visitors and 6 passage migrants) were recorded, including seven globally threatened birds and 40 Chinese National Key Protected Animals. Fourteen species and seven subspecies were recorded for the first time in the area. The fauna of south-west Guangxi is similar to that of south Yunnan and Indochina. We suggest that Nonggang Babbler Stachyris nonggangensis and Oriental Pied Hornbill Anthracoceros albirostris are the priority flagship bird species for the region. Nonggang National Nature Reserve is the most important site in south-west Guangxi for the conservation of endemic birds in limestone areas, while Quyang Lake is very important for wintering waterbirds. Further surveys and studies are necessary for bird conservation in south-west Guangxi.

Abstract:We observed and captured a bird on February 18,2012 in Sitang Town which is in the eastern outskirts of Youjiang District of Baise City.The bird is identified as Cephalopyrus flammiceps,and it is a new record for the Guangxi bird species distribution.

Abstract:In July,2011,one Accipiter virgatus was found in Gaogang Town,Shuchen County,Liu'an City.As the same time,one Accipiter virgatus juvenile was rescued from the local mountain.All the above individuals were taken pictures.In January,2012,one Accipiter virgatus was found in the farmland,in Changfeng,Hefei City.In February,2012,another Accipiter virgatus was found and photoed in Dashushan hill in Hefei of Anhui Province.On the basis of fauna literature analysis,Accipiter virgatus were recognized as a new bird record in Anhui Province.The new bird record is helpful and important for Accipiter virgatus study,especially for its geographical distribution and breeding biology study.

Abstract:We report our inventories of birds observed and collected at three field sites from the province of Guizhou, southeastern China. Our findings detailed herein complement our previous ornithological surveys from Guangxi province, as part of a comprehensive biotic survey of the region. Of 153 total bird species recorded, 17 were new for the province, among which several taxa of conservational importance, such as: Golden Pheasant Crysolophus pictus, Tawny Fish-Owl Ketupa flavipes, Black-breasted Thrush Turdus dissimilis, Fujian Flycatcher Niltava davidii, Red-tailed Laughingthrush Garrulax milnei, and Slaty Bunting Latoucheornis siemsseni. These records provide the most recent insight into the current status of the habitats and the avian biodiversity of an important, yet sparsely surveyed and reported biogeographic region.

Abstract:Both the field observation and the afterwards examination of 30 skins of the Collard Hill-partridge have shown that the birds in three localities in central Guangxi and being in complete chestnut of its forehead are of some remarkable difference to all other skins of Arborophila gingica gingica collected elsewhere,we hence are to offer a new subspecies.Arborophila gingica guangxiensis subsp.nov.(Figs.1-2)Holotype adult male,GXU06004,collected from Shanglin County(23°29'N,108°26'E;alt.1 100 m),Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,30 Oct.2006.Allotype adult female,GXU07002,collected from Rongshui County(25°13'N,108°58'E,alt.1 028 m),Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,11 Jan.2007.Paratypes:GXU07003,GXU07004 and GXU07005,adult females,all collected from the same locality as the allotype,20 Jan.2007.All type specimens are deposited in Guangxi University.The new subspecies is far known only detected in central(Daminshan Mountain)and north(Jiuwandashan Mountain)Guangxi,and is only confined to three isolated small areas.

Abstract:Several Black-crested Bulbul (Pycnonotus flaviventris) with red throats were observed and photographed in December 2010 and April 2011 in the Youjiang District (N23(o)54', E06(o)36', altitude 179 m) and Jingxi County(N22(o)59', E1 06(o)40', altitude 354 m) of Baise city, northwestern Guangxi, in southern China. These individuals belong to subspecies johnsoni, recorded previously in central and southeastern Thailand as well as the southern Indochina Region. This sighting provides a new record of the subspecies within China, warranting a discussion on the classification and distribution of Pycnonotus flaviventris.
Preliminary Study on Avifauna of Liuzhou Region

Abstract:A survey of bird in Liuzhou region of Guangxi was conducted from July 2000 to July 2004 in different seasons. Combined with the published records and the specimens gathered in Liuzhou, there are 183 specie belonging to 47 families and 15 orders, which account for 33.7% of 543 species in Guangxi Zhuang Auto no mous Region and 13.9% of 1319 species in China. There are 106 species and a subspecies residing in the region, 29 species breeding in the region in the summer, and 47 species and a subspecies being transient migrants in winter. Among all the birds breeding in the region (including residents and summer breeders),109 species are distributed in the Oriental realm, 3 species in the Palaeartic realm and 24 species are widely distributed. There are 25 Class Ⅱ national protected species,and among these,the black-shouldered kite is the most common eagle.

Abstract:Based on field investigations and published references, a total of 267 bird species belonging to 16 orders and 51 families were recorded in the Maoershan National Nature Reserve, Guangxi Compared with the recorded species before the field investigation conducted in 2000, this increased 3 orders, 12 families and 131 species. In this paper, the characteristics of the birds’ distribution and the possible threats to their continued survival were reviewed, and the protective measures were proposed to ensure their survival.

Abstract:274 species,57 families and 18 orders are recorded in Jinzhongshan in this article,of which 251 species are terrestrial birds,and 23 species are water birds.There are 157 species residents,104 species are migratory birds,and 13 species are passengers.171 species are Oriental species,and 4 species are Palaearctic species.39 species are belonged to nationally protected birds,3 species are endemic species in China,5 species were listed in the IUCN red list of threatened birds,20 species were listed as the China red list of threatened birds,and 34 species are listed in Appendix of CITES.Acoording to the comparison among bird species in five different habitats in Jinzhongshan,the results indicate that the highest bird species diversity index is in scrub and farmland(3.04),and the lowest in water area(2.14).

Abstract:[Objective]To study the biodiversity of mammals and birds in the Qingliangfeng National Nature Reserve,Anhui Province.[Method] From December of 2015 to March of 2016 ,the biodiversity of mammals and birds in the Qingliangfeng National Nature Reserve were investigated by using camera infrared technology.[Result]15 species,11 families,6 orders(including 9 mammal species and 6 bird species) were identified. Among them,Syrmaticus ellioti and Muntiacus crinifrons were ClassⅠstate key protected wild animals,and Lophura nythemera,Pucrasia macrolopha and Capricornis milneedwardsii were ClassⅡstate key protected wild animals.Based on the relative abundance index,Niviventer confucianus, Lepus sinensis and Muntiacus reevesi were ranked as the 3 most abundant mammal species ,while L.nythemera,Parus major and P.macrolopha were ranked as the three most abundant bird species.The number of recorded species by camera traps in core area was significantly more than that in buffer area.[Conclusion]The study could provide scientific basis for long-term monitoring and conservation of wild animals further.

Abstract:An investigation has been conducted in Dongzhai Natural Reserve from April to July,2008.A nest of Crested Goshawk that contained a nestling and an egg was found.This has been the first record of this species in Henan province,which indicates that the distribution area of Crested Goshawk is extending to the east and to the north.The habitat type for Crested Goshawk in Henan province remains to be determined.
