Abstract:Recently Freed and Hopkins [11] proved that there is no parity anomaly in M-theory on pin(+) manifolds in the low-energy field theory approximation, and they also developed an algebraic theory of cubic forms. Earlier Witten [33] proved the anomaly cancellation for spin manifolds by introducing the E-8-bundle technique. Motivated by the cubic forms and the anomaly cancellation formulas of Witten-Freed-Hopkins, we give some new cubic forms on spin, spinc(e), spin(omega 2) and orientable 12-manifolds respectively. We relate them to eta-invariants when the manifolds are with boundary, and mod 2 indices on 10 dimensional characteristic submanifolds when the manifolds are spinc or spin(omega 2). Our method of producing these cubic forms is a combination of (generalized) Witten classes and the character of the basic representation of affine E-8. (C) 2021 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Abstract:In unitarity cut method, compact input of on-shell tree level amplitudes is crucial to simplify calculations. Although BCFW on-shell recursion relation gives very compact tree level amplitudes, they usually contain spurious poles. In this paper, we present a method to deal with this issue and provide explicit simple algebraic functions for various coefficients in the presence of spurious poles. As an application, we present analytic result (not just rational term) for one-loop five gluon A(−++++) with scalar propagator for the first time.
Reduction of one-loop integrals with higher poles by unitarity cut method

Abstract:Unitarity cut method has been proved to be very useful in the computation of one-loop integrals. In this paper, we generalize the method to the situation where the powers of propagators in the denominator are larger than one in general. We show how to use the trick of differentiation over masses to translate the problem to the integrals where all powers are just one. Then by using the unitarity cut method, we can find the wanted reduction coefficients of all basis except the tadpole. Using this method, we calculate the reduction of scalar bubble, scalar triangle, scalar box and scalar pentagon with general power of propagators.

Abstract:In this paper, we generalize the unitarity method to two-loop diagrams and use it to discuss the master integrals of reduction. To test out method, we focus on the four-point double-box diagram as well as its related daughter diagrams, i.e., the doubletriangle diagram and the triangle-box diagram. For later two kinds of diagrams, we have given complete analytical results in general (4 − 2ϵ)-dimension.

Abstract:We construct the unintegrated vertex operator at the first mass level of the open superstring from the OPE of massless vertices. Using BRST cohomology manipulations, the tree amplitude of two massless and one massive state is rewritten in terms of the pure spinor superspace kinematic expression of the massless four-point amplitude at the ${\alpha^\prime}^2$ level. A generalization relating the partial $n$-point tree amplitudes with one massive state and linear combinations of the ${\alpha^\prime}^2$ corrections to n+1 massless amplitudes is found and shown to be consistent with unitarity.

Abstract:We derive useful reduction formulae which express one-loop Feynman integrals with a large number of external momenta in terms of lower-point integrals carrying easily derivable kinematic coefficients which are symmetric in the external momenta. These formulae apply for integrals with at least two more external legs than the dimension of the external momenta, and are presented in terms of two possible bases: one composed of a subset of descendant integrals with one fewer external legs, the other composed of the complete set of minimally-descendant integrals with just one more leg than the dimension of external momenta. In 3+1 dimensions, particularly compact representations of kinematic invariants can be computed, which easily lend themselves to spinor-helicity or trace representations. The reduction formulae have a close relationship with D-dimensional unitarity cuts, and thus provide a path towards computing full (all-epsilon) expressions for scattering at arbitrary multiplicity.

Analytic structure of one-loop coefficients

Abstract:By the unitarity cut method, analytic expressions of one-loop coefficients have been given in spinor forms. In this paper, we present one-loop coefficients of various bases in Lorentz-invariant contraction forms of external momenta. Using these forms, the analytic structure of these coefficients becomes manifest. Firstly, coefficients of bases contain only second-type singularities while the first-type singularities are included inside scalar bases. Secondly, the highest degree of each singularity is correlated with the degree of the inner momentum in the numerator. Thirdly, the same singularities will appear in different coefficients, thus our explicit results could be used to provide a clear physical picture under various limits (such as soft or collinear limits) when combining contributions from all bases.

Reduction of two-loop Feynman integrals in parametric representation with syzygy trick

Abstract:Reduction of high-loop Feynman integrals is one of the main tasks in scatting amplitude. In this paper, a new representation of Feynman integrals proposed by Chen in [1,2] is considered. We combined Chen's method with "syzygy" trick to simplify the IBP relations, and successfully canceled the dimensional shift and the unwanted doubled propagators. Moreover, we improved the method to deal with tensor's structure. We demonstrated our method using three two-loop integrals to show our method, and presented the analytical reduction coefficients in the top-sector.

Together with the techniques of helicity amplitude, color-decomposition, duality, KLT relation and others, this technique is quite powerful in the study of non-Abelian gauge theory, supersymmetry, string theory and gravity/gauge theory relationship in the perturbative approach at tree-amplitude and loop-amplitude levels.

Abstract:It is well known that under the color-decomposition, one-loop amplitude of gluons contains partial amplitudes of single and double trace structures, and particularly all partial amplitudes of double trace structure can be expressed as a linear combination of partial amplitudes of single trace structure. Using unitarity cut method, we prove that this result is the natural consequence of tree-level Kleiss–Kuijf relation. Generalizing the unitarity cut method to two-loop (triple cut in this case), we show that, unlike the one-loop case, partial amplitudes of double and triple trace structures cannot be expressed as a linear combination of partial amplitudes of leading-color single trace structure. For partial amplitudes of subleading-color single trace structure, we have shown a very non-trivial Kleiss–Kuijf relation for six and seven-point amplitudes, which is one new result of our paper and cannot be obtained by U(1)-decoupling method. Mysteriously, when we consider the case of eight points, Kleiss–Kuijf relation must be modified for subleading-color single trace partial amplitudes.
Two-Point Superstring Tree Amplitudes Using the Pure Spinor Formalism

Abstract:We provide a prescription for computing two-point tree amplitudes in the pure spinor formalism that are finite and agree with the corresponding expression in the field theories. In [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1906.06051v1" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1906.06051v1">arXiv:1906.06051v1</a>-<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1909.03672v3" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1909.03672v3">arXiv:1909.03672v3</a>], same results were presented for bosonic strings and it was mentioned they can be generalized to superstrings. The pure spinor formalism is a successful super-Poincare covariant approach to quantization of superstrings [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="hep-th/0001035v2" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/hep-th/0001035v2">arXiv:hep-th/0001035v2</a>]. Because the pure spinor formalism is equivalent to other superstring formalisms, we explicitly verify the above claim. We introduce a mostly BRST exact operator in order to achieve this.

One-loop calculations in the chirality-flow formalism

Abstract:In a few recent papers we introduced the chirality-flow formalism, which was shown to make calculations of tree-level Feynman diagrams simple and transparent. Chirality flow, which is based on the spinor-helicity formalism, allows to often immediately analytically write down a tree-level Feynman diagram in terms of spinor inner products. In this paper, we argue that there is also a significant simplification of the Lorentz structure at the one-loop level, at least when using the four-dimensional formulation of the four-dimensional helicity scheme. Additionally, we find that the possible terms in a tensor decomposition of loop integrals are highly constrained, and therefore the tensor reduction procedure is simplified.

Abstract:Recently, a new construction for complete loop integrands of massless field theories has been proposed, with on-shell tree-level amplitudes delicately incorporated into its algorithm. This new approach reinterprets integrands in a novel form, namely the 𝒬 -cut representation. In this paper, by deriving one-loop integrands as examples, we elaborate in details the technique of this new representation, e.g., the summation over all possible 𝒬 -cuts as well as helicity states for the non-scalar internal particle in the loop. Moreover, we show that the integrand in the 𝒬 -cut representation naturally reduces to the integrand in the traditional unitarity cut method for each given cut channel, providing a cross-check for the new approach.

Abstract:In the first part of this paper, we extend the d-dimensional unitarity cut method of Anastasiou et al. to cases with massive propagators. We present formulas for integral reduction with which one can obtain coefficients of all pentagon, box, triangle and massive bubble integrals. In the second part of this paper, we present a detailed study of the phase space integration for unitarity cuts. We carry out spinor integration in generality and give algebraic expressions for coefficients, intended for automated evaluation.

Abstract:The Passarino-Veltman (PV) reduction method has proven to be very useful for the computation of general one-loop integrals. However, not much progress has been made when it is applied to higher loops. Recently, we have improved the PV-reduction method by introducing an auxiliary vector. In this paper, we apply our new method to the simplest two-loop integrals, i.e., the sunset topology. We show how to use differential operators to establish algebraic recursion relations for reduction coefficients. Our algorithm can be easily applied to the reduction of integrals with arbitrary high-rank tensor structures. We demonstrate the efficiency of our algorithm by computing the reduction with the total tensor rank up to four.
Tensor Reduction for Feynman Integrals with Lorentz and Spinor Indices

Abstract:We present an efficient graphical approach to construct projectors for the tensor reduction of multi-loop Feynman integrals with both Lorentz and spinor indices in $D$ dimensions. An ansatz for the projectors is constructed making use of its symmetry properties via an orbit partition formula. The graphical approach allows to identify and enumerate the orbits in each case. For the case without spinor indices we find a 1 to 1 correspondence between orbits and integer partitions describing the cycle structure of certain bi-chord graphs. This leads to compact combinatorial formulae for the projector ansatz. With spinor indices the graph-structure becomes more involved, but the method is equally applicable. Our spinor reduction formulae are based on the antisymmetric basis of $\gamma$ matrices, and make use of their orthogonality property. We also provide a new compact formula to pass into the antisymmetric basis. We compute projectors for vacuum tensor Feynman integrals with up to 32 Lorentz indices and up to 4 spinor indices. We discuss how to employ the projectors in problems with external momenta.
