Research Progress on Active Antioxidant Components from Plants

Abstract:The natural antioxidant can effectively scavenge free radicals and protect body health. It has become an inevitable trend to find highly-efficient, low-priced and low-toxicitied antioxidant from natural plants. This article summarized research progress of the components which played the antioxidant function coming from nature plants, such as polysaccharides, flavonoids, polyphenols, alkaloids, saikosaponins, vitamin, etc. The problems and prospects on these relative studies about antioxidants were put forward. These studies were served as a base in the exploitation and utilization of the active antioxidant from natural plants.
