Abstract:Necessary and sufficient condition for robust H∞ control of dynamic interval systems is proposed. This robust H∞ controller guarantees not only the quadratic stability of the closed-loop systems but also the disturbance attenuation within a prescribed level in the H∞-norm sense. The results are obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities. The illustrative example shows that this method is effective to obtain the robust H∞ controller for dynamic interval systems.

Abstract:A minimax optimal control strategy for uncertain quasi-integrable Hamiltonian systems with time-delayed bounded feedback control is proposed. First, a quasi-integrable Hamiltonian system with time-delayed bounded control forces and uncertain excitation and system parameters is converted into a set of Itô stochastic differential equations without time delay. Then, the partially averaged Itô stochastic differential equations for the energy processes are derived by using the stochastic averaging method for quasi-integrable Hamiltonian systems. For these equations together with an appropriate performance index, a worst-case optimal control strategy is derived via solving a stochastic differential game problem. The worst-case disturbances and the optimal bounded controls are obtained by solving a Hamilton–Jacobi–Isaacs (HJI) equation. Finally, two examples are worked out in detail to illustrate the application and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:A nonlinear stochastic optimal control strategy for minimizing the first-passage failure of quasi integrable Hamiltonian systems (multi-degree-of-freedom integrable Hamiltonian systems subject to light dampings and weakly random excitations) is proposed. The equations of motion for a controlled quasi integrable Hamiltonian system are reduced to a set of averaged Itô stochastic differential equations by using the stochastic averaging method. Then, the dynamical programming equations and their associated boundary and final time conditions for the control problems of maximization of reliability and mean first-passage time are formulated. The optimal control law is derived from the dynamical programming equations and the control constraints. The final dynamical programming equations for these control problems are determined and their relationships to the backward Kolmogorov equation governing the conditional reliability function and the Pontryagin equation governing the mean first-passage time are separately established. The conditional reliability function and the mean first-passage time of the controlled system are obtained by solving the final dynamical programming equations or their equivalent Kolmogorov and Pontryagin equations. An example is presented to illustrate the application and effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

Abstract:A stochastic minimax optimal time-delay state feedback control strategy for uncertain quasi-integrable Hamiltonian systems is proposed. First, a stochastic optimal state feedback control problem of uncertain quasi-integrable Hamiltonian system with time delay in feedback control subjected to Gaussian white noise is formulated. Then, the time-delayed state feedback control forces are approximated by the control forces without time delay and the original problem is converted into a stochastic optimal state feedback control problem of an uncertain system without time delay. After that, by following a procedure based on the stochastic averaging method and stochastic differential game, the worst-case disturbances and the optimal controls are obtained from solving a Hamiltonian–Jacobi–Isaacs (HJI) equation. As an example, the stochastic minimax optimal state feedback control of a Duffing oscillator with parametric disturbances and time-delayed feedback control is worked out in detail to illustrate the procedure and effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

Abstract:AbstractA procedure for designing feedback control to asymptotically stabilize, with probability one, quasi-integrable Hamiltonian systems with bounded uncertain parametric disturbances is proposed. First, the partially averaged Ito stochastic differential equations are derived from given system by using the stochastic averaging method for quasi-integrable Hamiltonian systems. Second, the Hamilton-Jacobi-Issacs (HJI) equation for the ergodic control problem of the averaged system and a performance index with undetermined cost function is established based on the principle of optimality. This equation is then solved to yield the worst disturbances and the associated optimal controls. Third, the asymptotic Lyapunov stability with probability one of the optimally controlled system with worst disturbances is analyzed by evaluating the maximal Lyapunov exponent of the fully averaged Ito equations. Finally, the cost function and feedback control are determined by the requirement of stabilizing the worst-disturbed system. A simple example is worked out to illustrate the application of the proposed procedure and the effects of optimal control on stabilizing the uncertain system.

Abstract:In this paper,an iteration algorithm is given for obtaining the approximate solutions to optimal control problems with(hard) control action constraints for a class of typical complex systems—Volterra integral systems containing nonlinear time delays.It is shown that the algorithm is well-defined.The convergence of the algorithm is proved under certain conditions.

Abstract:A minimax stochastic optimal control strategy for bounded-uncertain stochastic systems is proposed. The minimax dynamical programming equation for an uncertain stochastic control system is firstly derived based on the optimality principle and Itô differential rule. A new type of bang-bang constraint on the bounded uncertain disturbance is proposed to form a class of minimax stochastic optimal control problems. Then the worst disturbance and minimax optimal control are obtained for the bang-bang-type uncertain system under stochastic excitations. According to this method, the quasi linear control law is obtained for linear stochastic systems with bounded uncertainty and the state-dependent quasi Riccati equation is derived from the minimax dynamical programming equation. Furthermore, a minimax stochastic optimal control strategy for uncertain stochastic quasi Hamiltonian systems is developed based on the stochastic averaging method and minimax dynamical programming equation. The worst disturbance and minimax optimal control for the stochastically averaged system are obtained by the similar procedure. The proposed and developed minimax stochastic optimal control strategies are illustrated with an example of a single-degree-of-freedom uncertain stochastic control system.

Abstract:This paper deals with the problem of decentralized robustcontrol for a class of interconnected uncertain systemswith state delays.The parameter uncertainties are un-known but norm-bounded.A new sufficient condition isobtained for each subsystem and overall system to be sta-bilizable via linear memoryless state feedback robust de-centralized controllers.The results depend on the size of the delays and are given in terms of linear matrix ine-qualities,so they are less conservative than those of delay-independent.Moreover,matching condition is not a necessary condition.Finally,an example is presented to illustrative the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:Proposed an Min-Max model predictive control for discrete uncertain time-delay systems with input and states constraints. The infinite horizon cost is transformed to a finite horizon one by approximating the robust performance criterion after the terminal time with penalty that is obtained by offline involving linear matrix inequality (LMI), which makes the Min-Max optimization problem easy to solve and the robust stability preserved. Presented the sufficient conditions of stability and proof. Simulation results verified the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:Using linear matrix inequality approach, this paper deals with a class of uncertain dynamic systems. The class of systems under consideration is described by a continuous-time uncertain model with multiple time-varying delays in both states and controls. The uncertainties are unknown but norm-bounded. A sufficient condition for a class of uncertain delay system to be stabilizable is obtaincd. It is shown that the construction of the stabilizing controller involves solving several linear matrix in-qualities. Finally, an example is given both to illustrate the proposed approach's effectiveness and to show the proposed approach's advantages over Riccati equation approach.

By using the Riccati equation approach, a sufficient condition for the system to be stabilization is obtained. Abstract:In this paper, quasi-min-max robust model predictive control is proposed for the polytopic linear parameter varying (LPV) time-delay systems with constrained control input. The infinite horizon 'worst-case' objective function is transformed to the terminal penalty and objective functions at current time. The sufficient conditions of stability and a new upper bound on the robust performance index are presented for time-delay systems. The feedback control law is obtained by convex optimization involving linear matrix inequalities. It is shown that closed loop stability is guaranteed by the feasibility of linear matrix inequalities. The simulation results of truck trailer system verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

In the second part, using the Malliavin calculus approach, we deduce a general maximum principle for optimal control of general stochastic Volterra equations. Abstract:In this paper, we study linear-quadratic control problems for stochastic Volterra integral equations with singular and non-convolution-type coefficients. The weighting matrices in the cost functional are not assumed to be non-negative definite. From a new viewpoint, we formulate a framework of causal feedback strategies. The existence and the uniqueness of a causal feedback optimal strategy are characterized by means of the corresponding Riccati--Volterra equation. The causal feedback optimal strategy is explicitly written by a finite dimensional (matrix-valued) function which solves the Riccati--Volterra equation.

Abstract:In this paper, a new class of fractional impulsive stochastic partial integro-differential control systems with state-dependent delay and their optimal controls in a Hilbert space is studied. We firstly prove an existence result of mild solutions for the control systems by using stochastic analysis, analytic α\documentclass[12pt]{minimal}\usepackage{amsmath}\usepackage{wasysym}\usepackage{amsfonts}\usepackage{amssymb}\usepackage{amsbsy}\usepackage{mathrsfs}\usepackage{upgreek}\setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt}\begin{document}$\alpha $\end{document}-resolvent operator, fractional powers of closed operators and suitable fixed point theorems. Then we derive the existence conditions of optimal pairs to the fractional impulsive stochastic control systems. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of our main results.

Abstract:An internal model control strategy based on Volterra series model was proposed for a general class of uncertain nonlinear systems.Based on a local form of small gain theorem,the sufficient conditions ,which guarantee the robust stability of the closed-loop system when the identified model was mismatched with the real model of the controlled system,and guarantee the zero-error tracking for set-point regulation,were presented.The simulation results of a continuously stirred tank reactor (CSTR) show that the proposed controller design strategy is effective.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with a class of controlled singular Volterra integral equations, which could be used to describe problems involving memories. The well-known fractional order ordinary differential equations of the Riemann--Liouville or Caputo types are strictly special cases of the equations studied in this paper. Well-posedness and some regularity results in proper spaces are established for such kind of questions. For the associated optimal control problem, by using a Liapounoff's type theorem and the spike variation technique, we establish a Pontryagin's type maximum principle for optimal controls. Different from the existing literature, our method enables us to deal with the problem without assuming regularity conditions on the controls, the convexity condition on the control domain, and some additional unnecessary conditions on the nonlinear terms of the integral equation and the cost functional.
