Abstract:Aromatic aldehydes are very important organic intermediates,which are widely used in pharmaceuticals,pesticides and other areas.In this paper,an improved synthetic method of aromatic aldehydes containing electrowithdrawing groups in ortho or para(or both) position of the aromatic ring was introduced.4-choloro-2-nitrotoluene,4-nitrotoluene and 4-cyanotoluene were used as raw materials,respectively,via enamination with N,N-dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal(DMFDMA) in the present of N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF) as solvent and under reflux,the corresponding styrylamine compounds were produced;then the intermediates were further oxidized by H2O2 under different reaction conditions.The effects of solvent species,reaction temperature and the used amount of H2O2 on the product yield were studied,and the optimal reaction conditions were determined.Under those optimal conditions,the best yields of different aldehydes are 75.6%(4-chloro-2-nitrobenzaldehyde),58.3%(4-nitrobenzaldehyde) and 68.2%(4-cyanobenzaldehyde),respectively with the advantages of simple process,low cost and being environment-friendly..The main intermediates and objective products were confirmed by HPLC and 1H-NMR.

Abstract:Tobacco essential oil is a complexity of tobacco secondary metabolites.It is mainly consisted of volatile and semi-volatile compounds.As an important source of tobacco characteristic aroma compounds,tobacco essential oil is mainly used as spices in cigarette blends nowadays.This paper mainly introduced the research progress of concept,chemical composition,extraction technology,analysis method and application of tobacco essential oil.The development prospect in these fields was also explored.

Abstract:Edulans,which have intense pleasant and unique note,are widely found in the volatile components of food,cosmetics,tobacco,etc.And edulans are also regarded as important aroma of purple skinned Passiflora edulis.Some studies on the synthesis of edulans have been reported.In this paper,the status of synthesis of edulans used as an important flavoring was reviewed with 22 references.Some reactions and general ways of synthesis were discussed.Some suggestions for the continuous research and the developmental prospect in future are also discussed.

Abstract:Methyl jasmonate was synthesized from cis-4-heptenoic acid via acylation, aminolysis, grafting, deprotection, cyclization etc. in seven steps. The procedure was simple and suitable for industrialization. The product structures were characterized by H-1 NMR, MS and elemental analysis.

Abstract:Linalool, as a major volatile compound, is widely distributed in natural plant essential oil. In addition, it can also be artificially synthesized. Linalool is used frequently as an important ingredient of perfumes and household detergents. It is still employed in food flavor and industries. Besides, linalool has some positive effect on healthcare. Many studies have showed that linalool exhibited a variety of pharmacological activities, including analgesic, anxiolytic, sedative, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor and anti-bacterial effects. Therefore, linalool will be a promising agent for clinical application. This article reviews the pharmacological effects and formulation studies of linalool so as to provide a theoretical basis for its further development and utilization.

Abstract:As important components of spices,many menthol esters have been widely applied in the fields of food,tobacco,medicines and cosmetics. Recently,the syntheses of common mono-menthyl esters( e. g. menthyl acetate,menthyl lactate) were investigated in detail for the optimization of synthetic conditions,especially the screening in catalyst,dehydrating agent,etc. Meanwhile,some novel mono-menthol esters from amino acid,salicylic acid,and so on were developed. Similarly,different di-menthyl esters spices from butenedioic acid,malic acid and tartaric acid etc were also synthesized. Furthermore,some the latent fragrant additives involving in multi-menthyl esters were researched. Based on the different structural types,these synthetic progresses of different menthol ester spices are reviewed in this paper.

Abstract:Citral is an important intermedium for synthesis of some chemical and pharmaceutical products such as ionone, vitamin A and E. The synthesis conditions of citral from dehydrolinalool was studied and discussed. Dehydrolinalool reacted in the solution of paraffin, under the environment of nitrogen and with polymeric silyl vanadates as main catalyst and some aid catalysts. The products were gained by vacuum distillation from reaction liquid, meanwhile their qualitative and quantitative analysis were carried out by GC-MS. The results showed: the better ratio between diphenyl dichloro silane and sodium vanadate is 3:1, suitable calcined temperature of catalyst is 100℃, reaction temperature is 170℃ and reaction period is 4 hours. The reaction condition under which the yield of citral is 80% and the purity of citral is 90% wasafforded. The mechanism from dehydrolinalool to citral was discussed.

Abstract:In medicinal chemistry there is a growing interest in using small molecules, including plant stress hormones. Jasmonic acid (JA) and its volatile methyl ester (MJ), collectively termed jasmonates, are lipid-derived cyclopentanone compounds that occur ubiquitously and exclusively in the plant kingdom. This review covers the synthesis, usage, and biological activities of JA and its derivatives. A brief overview of the available information on JA and its features is given, followed by a detailed review of JA and its derivatives as drugs and prodrugs; the properties in plants and the synthesis in recent patents are described. This review shows the direction of long-term drug/nutraceutical safety trials and provides insights for future research in this area. Research on JA continues to be of major interest. Recent innovations offer hope for the development of new therapeutics in related fields. It is anticipated that several analogs can be advanced to preclinical and clinical studies.

Abstract:Jasmonic acid (JA) and methy jasmonate (MeJA) have been recognized as a new type of natural plant growth regulator and exist in the plant kingdom at very low concentration.JAs have a very wide range of physiological activities.As endogenous jasmonates exist in enantiomers in nature and at level of nanogram/per gram fresh weight,it is very challenging work to develop rapid and accurate method for qualitative and quantitative analyses of JAs.This review paper summarizes the recent advances in the analysis of jasmonates including chromatography,capillary electrophoresis,chromatography-mass spectrometry and immunoassay.

Abstract:Metal nanoparticles (MNPs) have garnered significant attention due to their exceptional performance in heterogeneous reactions. Meanwhile, extensive applications have been found for metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), known for their ordered structure and high surface area. In this study, MNPs particles were amalgamated with MOFs to create a core-shell structure and were introduced amino groups into this configuration through post-synthetic modification (PSM), resulting in the successful synthesis of six distinct nanomaterials. Comprehensive characterization techniques, including infrared spectroscopy (IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), confirmed the synthesis and modification of the MNPs/MOFs materials. These synthesized materials were employed as catalysts for the condensation reaction of jasminaldehyde. It is noteworthy that these catalysts exhibited outstanding performance, showcasing advantages over traditional heterogeneous catalysts. This superior performance is attributed in part to the advanced core-shell structure of these materials and the effective introduction of amino functional groups through the PSM technique.

Abstract:Scientists have found more and more sulfur compounds in food with the development of science and technology, high-precision analytical methods and equipment. In 2015, Flavor and Extract Manufactures Association of the United State published 2816 safe flavors, and there are more than 388 sulfur-containing compounds, accounting for more than 13%. The main smell of sulfur-containing flavors is food, especially the non-staple food and dishes. It is mainly used as food flavor, flower flavor and fruity flavor. Due to the increase of sulfur-containing perfume and flavors demand, its production scale is increasing, the research on synthesis methods is also deepening, and the green and efficient construction methods are also constantly reported. In this review, the recent progress in the construction of sulfide, thiol, thioester and polysulfide perfume & flavors is summarized.
