Abstract:Main and branch library system can implement efifcient use of resources and improve service efifciency. By learning from some successful regional branch library construction, there is a new mode called "Main and branch library system mode based on synergistic and cluster theory". Its construction should follow the public welfare, uniformity, efifciency principles. Take a wide range of fund-raising means to establish a multi-level extension resource structure. It uses "upper and lower levels of management" responsible for the distribution of resources to achieve the joint use. The mode provides a one-stop information service, and pay attention to the characteristics of the branch build. This model needs to be protected from the legislative, institutional, personnel, technology and so on.

Abstract:The central-branch library system has developed more than ten years under the guidance of national policy and formed several characteristic systems which effectively promoted the process of library popularization. From the angle of library popularization, the paper introduces basic theory and characteristics about the central-branch library system, then analyzes five important factors in the construction of the central-branch library system and builds the model from two aspects of macroscopic and microscopic in order to promote the sustainable development of central-branch library system in our country.

Abstract:This paper makes a bibliometric analysis of the research papers on branch libraries of universities in China in the past twenty years.Through the analysis of the publishing time,the main contents of the essays,the author of this article draws the outline of the present situation of the researches on the branch libraries,points out that Chinese scholars have laid emphasis merely on theories and qualitative researches,that the library should strengthen the investigation of the statistical analysis and empirical researches,and establish an effective mechanisms for evaluation and assessment,and that all the researches should be comprehensive and penetrative to explore the effective rules and regulations of the operation.

Abstract:In order to explore the sustainable development of the public library service system,this paper studies the main-branch library system and the management system which is under specific administrative level,and investigates the stability and controlling nature of the main-branch library system.This study adopts the methods of document survey,field survey and personal interview,and causality analysis.One of the most important conclusions is that the genesis of the main-branch library system is the separation of management and administration,but not the financing mode.The Jiaxing mode of "three-level investment and one-level management" is a mode advantageous for forming compact main-branch library system and possible to realize under the financial system in China.This study does not deal with the obstacles in promoting the Jiaxing mode when there is no relevant law,which requires further empirical study.

Abstract:In the process of the popularity of public library, the central-branch library system has experienced more than ten years of exploration with the early success of libraries' network coverage and formed several central-branch library operation models with local characteristics to provide a good reference for the similar libraries. This paper makes a comparative study on the four typical central-branch public library construction models from the five aspects of the regional policy, management subjects, construction mechanism and service methods.

Abstract:The library in the institutions of higher learning is the special stack room to collect literature of its own.It is of great significance to show the result of running school,to keep up complete data and to form a characteristic collection.By taking University of Zhejiang Science and Technology(ZUST)as an example,we analyze the existing problems in the library construction of the newly-built institutions of higher learning and define the scope of the library collection.Thus several methods are advanced to strengthen both its direction and initiative to turn the data base resources into the school's special collection resources as well as to grasp the timing node to collect library materials.

Abstract:At the beginning of this article, the author briefly reviewed the development of the branch library system in Peking University, making a full introduction on the strategy, characteristics and development patterns, and laying special attention on the "sixteen word" policy which guided the practice. The author introduced the characteristics and achievements of the branch libraries at PKU in different periods, providing a great deal of examples to show the support given by branch libraries to teaching and research activities on two aspects-resource development and reader services. Finally, the author explored the future development of the branch library system and gave several significant suggestions.

Abstract:This paper investigates the homepage construction of university branch libraries(UBLs) of 10 Chinese and foreign universities by applying the typical survey method.By comparing the similarities and differences of the UBL homepages in their construction form,functionality,and content of services,the successful experience in the UBL homepage construction is concluded.It is suggested that Chinese UBL homepage construction can be developed and improved in some aspects including highlighting the subject navigation functionality,establishing a communicative and interactive platform for patrons.

Abstract:The library is one of the most important factors that affect the quality of teaching in universities, and it plays an important role in improving college students'comprehensive quality,especially the ability of self-learning and innovation.To understand the differences and the influence factors in the use of library of some different kinds of universities,the Educational Statistics and Management Branch of Chinese Association for Ap-plied Statistics organized a multi -center survey on college students'classroom learning state in late 2010. Quantitative methods are applied to discuss the factors and the influences.The results show that there are com-mon factors among all the universities,and course plan and academic ability are the most important factors. Meanwhile,there are some unique factors,such as political status,monthly expenses,etc.Finally,universities can take certain measures according to the results to guide the students to make the best use of the libraries.

Abstract:There are two systems in the Jiaxing Model: the public library service system based on main-branch libraries,and the library service union system.Research shows that from the public service system to the library service union system,"government oriented" development guideline had guaranteed the public service system to extend vertically—village libraries has been constructed throughout the area.At the same time,the construction guidelines can solve the budget problem associated to the loose library service union,and improve the service ability of the unified platform.This research provides rich from relevant government documentation and interviews of informants.
