Abstract:Sinusoidal transform is separated into audio analysis and synthesis phases. Referring to the ideas of progressive refinement of geometry/image and scalable video, head-related transfer function (HRTF) filtering is naturally integrated into a progressive resynthesis process and MPEG psychoacoustic model 1 is used to guide the selection of matching pairs before transmission/synthesis. The implementation of this scheme in a distributed virtual environment has quite a few advantages, including scalability, direction flexibility and user-adapted HRTF etc.

Abstract:Our team TsinghuaHephaestus was established in 2003 as a part of the Lab for Robot Intelligent Control, Department of Automation, Tsinghua University. With the research interests on robotics and artificial intelligence, our software for robot soccer was developed on Aibo ERS-210A, in which many basic skills were learned from other teams. In November 2004, we bought Aibo ERS-7 and started to work on the new version of our software. The whole system was restructured and most of the modules were rewritten. We participated in RoboCup 2005 in Osaka, Japan. As a new team, we have got many things during our first entrance to the international arena, including state-of-the-art of various technical fields, management skills for a successful team and the understanding of the game itself. The rest of this report describes the approaches we used in the 2005 competition in detail, which is organized as follows. Section 2 illustrates the structure of the system. Section 3, 4 and 5 focuses on the implementation of vision, localization and motion modules. Section 6 introduces the routine and basic behaviors used to make decisions. The last section gives a summary of our experiences in Osaka and discusses the future development of our team.

Abstract:TsinghuAeolus is the champion team for the latest two RoboCup simulation league competitions. While our binary and nearly full source code for RoboCup 2001 had been publicly available for the entire year, we won the champion again in Fukuka, with more obvious advantage. This paper describes the key innovations that bring this improvement. They include an advice-taking mechanism which aims to improve agents' adaptability, a compact and effective option scoring policy which is crucial in the option-evaluation framework, and thorough analysis of interception problem which leads to more intelligent interception skill. Although not strongly interrelated, these innovations come together to form a set of solutions for problems across different levels.

Abstract:A tactical communication equipment simulation training platform aiming at the difficult problem of training is presented. Firstly, platform is built based on HLA and its framework is designed to a hierarchical structure. Secondly, models of the training equipments are created with software of GL Studio and Multigen Creator. The key technology of the platform including single equipment 3D modeling and integrated equipment 3D modeling is detailed. Each step is also listed and some skills are told combined with examples. Finally, the flow named military requirement drive designing and developing is put forward considering the traits of the platform, which is adopted to implement the platform. The simulation examples are introduced to prove the feasibility of the platform. The development of the platform provides beneficial reference for constructing the similar large-scale equipment operation simulation training system.

Abstract:Computer modelling and visualization of the geological data is currently a topical research area. Due to the diverse types and forms of the geological data, it's usually difficult to form unified rules for 3D modelling. In this paper, the author describes a 3D visualization system which built for visualization modelling with the data obtained in the geological survey. In addition, the author focuses on his ideas about how to implement the 3D modelling and visual interpretation of the multi-source detection data.

Abstract:Virtual reality is now becoming matured for serious engineering applications. This paper describes an integrated multi-modal virtual design and virtual assembly environment within which the designers are enabled to create both the exact solid model of a part and the assembly model of a product in 3D space by direct 3D manipulations and voice commands intuitively and easily. Assembly planning can also be performed by users interactively in the environment. By integrating virtual assembly with virtual design, designers are allowed to modify components of an assembly in the same virtual environment without the need of time-consuming data exchange between virtual environment and CAD tools.

Abstract:There are two problems in the existing rendering platforms that support HLA-based simulation applications. One is the fact that the management of simulation entity objects and the management of rendering scene objects are separate, which leads to inefficiency in simulation and rendering. Another one is absence of rendering interface, especially for parallel rendering for users. In order to solve the above problems, we present a unified object model supporting HLA-based simulation and parallel rendering, which consists of heterogenous scene graph tree, action list and universal access interface. The Unified object model establishes an efficient data exchange bridge between HLA simulation and parallel rendering. Therefore massive complex scene and large quantity of simulation entities can be organized and managed in a unified form. An experimental demo is given at the end of this paper.

Abstract:The Tsinghua Robot Soccer Team was designed to meet the requirements of the robot soccer games for the Robot World Cup Tournament (RoboCup). A method is presented for constructing individual skill layers and decision-making layers according to intelligent levels. The research work includes the structural design of the robots, the implementation of individual skills through multi-layer BP neural networks, and the application of priority algorithms to achieve cooperation between robots as well as competition between each other. The Tsinghua Robot Soccer Team succeeded in the Chinese RoboCup2000 Tournament. This paper provides information for other researchers to develop robot soccer teams.

The core code and the prototype of the system are completed. Experimental results show that our design is feasible and effective. It can bring the feeling of reality and immersion.

Abstract:Teamwork is a set of interrelated reasoning, actions and behaviors of team members that facilitate common objectives. Teamwork theory and experiments have resulted in a set of states and processes for team effectiveness in both human-human and agent-agent teams. However, human-agent teaming is less well studied because it is so new and involves asymmetry in policy and intent not present in human teams. To optimize team performance in human-agent teaming, it is critical that agents infer human intent and adapt their polices for smooth coordination. Most literature in human-agent teaming builds agents referencing a learned human model. Though these agents are guaranteed to perform well with the learned model, they lay heavy assumptions on human policy such as optimality and consistency, which is unlikely in many real-world scenarios. In this paper, we propose a novel adaptive agent architecture in human-model-free setting on a two-player cooperative game, namely Team Space Fortress (TSF). Previous human-human team research have shown complementary policies in TSF game and diversity in human players' skill, which encourages us to relax the assumptions on human policy. Therefore, we discard learning human models from human data, and instead use an adaptation strategy on a pre-trained library of exemplar policies composed of RL algorithms or rule-based methods with minimal assumptions of human behavior. The adaptation strategy relies on a novel similarity metric to infer human policy and then selects the most complementary policy in our library to maximize the team performance. The adaptive agent architecture can be deployed in real-time and generalize to any off-the-shelf static agents. We conducted human-agent experiments to evaluate the proposed adaptive agent framework, and demonstrated the suboptimality, diversity, and adaptability of human policies in human-agent teams.

Abstract:With the rapid advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs), LLM-based agents have introduced convenient and user-friendly methods for leveraging tools across various domains. In the field of astronomical observation, the construction of new telescopes has significantly increased astronomers' workload. Deploying LLM-powered agents can effectively alleviate this burden and reduce the costs associated with training personnel. Within the Nearby Galaxy Supernovae Survey (NGSS) project, which encompasses eight telescopes across three observation sites, aiming to find the transients from the galaxies in 50 mpc, we have developed the \textbf{StarWhisper Telescope System} to manage the entire observation process. This system automates tasks such as generating observation lists, conducting observations, analyzing data, and providing feedback to the observer. Observation lists are customized for different sites and strategies to ensure comprehensive coverage of celestial objects. After manual verification, these lists are uploaded to the telescopes via the agents in the system, which initiates observations upon neutral language. The observed images are analyzed in real-time, and the transients are promptly communicated to the observer. The agent modifies them into a real-time follow-up observation proposal and send to the Xinglong observatory group chat, then add them to the next-day observation lists. Additionally, the integration of AI agents within the system provides online accessibility, saving astronomers' time and encouraging greater participation from amateur astronomers in the NGSS project.

A 3D Mixed Reality Interface for Human-Robot Teaming

Abstract:This paper presents a mixed-reality human-robot teaming system. It allows human operators to see in real-time where robots are located, even if they are not in line of sight. The operator can also visualize the map that the robots create of their environment and can easily send robots to new goal positions. The system mainly consists of a mapping and a control module. The mapping module is a real-time multi-agent visual SLAM system that co-localizes all robots and mixed-reality devices to a common reference frame. Visualizations in the mixed-reality device then allow operators to see a virtual life-sized representation of the cumulative 3D map overlaid onto the real environment. As such, the operator can effectively "see through" walls into other rooms. To control robots and send them to new locations, we propose a drag-and-drop interface. An operator can grab any robot hologram in a 3D mini map and drag it to a new desired goal pose. We validate the proposed system through a user study and real-world deployments. Abstract:To overcome the shortcomings of commercial virtual simulation software including the need of high hardware configuration,expensive price and function shortage in secondary development,an OpenGL-based construction virtual simulation platform was studied and developed based on existed graphic engine of 4D-GCPSU. Its main features include reality rendering of 3D model by processing material,texture,lighting etc. 3D dynamic simulation and animation display with double buffer technique,creating and controlling of virtual scene with human-computer interaction technology. The platform has been applied and tested in practice engineering projects and can produce high quality 3D realistics model and 3D animations. It can be adopted in the development of 4D virtual construction and dynamic management systems. Therefore,the platform is of practical application value.

Abstract:The simulation system for Multi-UAV cooperative target tracking is an important supporting tool, needed by theoretical verification, algorithm experiment and 3D real-time visual simulation. Firstly, based on the HLA standard, the 3D simulation system is designed through functional orientation, structure design and operation process management. Then on the basis of flight dynamics of UAV, Aerosim Toolbox is used for simulation system. Meanwhile a method of realtime and seamless rendering of infinite terrain is implemented by block duplication, and the management of the detail scene is realized with BSP method. Thus the key technology of the simulation system is built. If users understand the relevant interface protocol, they can design their own algorithms and do experiments on the simulation platform. Finally, the platform is used to simulate the formation control algorithm and Multi-UAV target tracking flight control algorithm. The simulation results show that the system has strong generality and fidelity.
