Abstract:Acetylene reacted with isobutal to give isobutal vinyl ether at certain temperature and pressure.The product was purified and characterized by gas chromatography,mass spectrograph and infrared spectroscopy.The effect of catalyst、reaction temperature、reaction pressure on conversion and purity of isobutal vinyl ether was discussed.

Abstract:Cyclohexanone diethyl acetal is widely used as pharmaceutical intermediates, and it may be pyrolyzed to give 1-ethoxy cyclohexene which could be used in synthesizing both polymer material and pharmaceutical intermediates. Cyclohexanone diethyl acetal was prepared from cyclohexanone with anhydrous ethanol as reactant, ammonium chloride as catalyst, triethyl orthoformate as water scavenger. The proposed method, which is preferable for green process, has many advantages such as the catalyst used is cheap and easily obtained, the post treatment of the process is convenient, the process has few industrial waste and high yield, etc. The suitable technical conditions were investigated in detail, which include the effects of catalyst, reaction time and reactants mole ratio on yield. The results indicate that 91.8% yield could be obtained with the following optimal reaction conditions: cyclohexanone weight 29.4 g (0.3 mol), the mole ratio of cyclohexanone and triethyl orthoformate 1:1.2, the mole ratio of cyclohexanone and anhydrous ethanol 1: 3, the reaction time 90 minutes, the amount of catalyst 0.006 mole, and reaction with reflux. The purity and structure of the product was examined by GC GC-MS and NMR.

Abstract:Three commercial ion-exchange resin based catalysts were compared under different temperature and liquid-volume hourly space velocity (LHSV) in the isobutene (IB, C4) dimerization reaction using a plug flow reactor in the absence of any selectivity enhancing component. High IB conversion for all catalysts was obtained at or higher than 50°C. But, diisobutene (DIB, C8) selectivity decreased with the increase of temperature. High C8 selectivity was observed with LHSV higher than 1.5 at 50°C. The best catalytic performance of the three resins did not show obvious differences. The effect of the selectivity enhancers on the stability of the resins was also studied. Desulfonation was observed in the C4 dimerization reaction when water or the commonly used enhancer tert-butyl alcohol (TBA) was added to the feed. The deactivation of catalyst resulted in decrease of both IB conversion and C8 selectivity. Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy showed that desulfonation happened in both para and ortho positions of the sulfonated benzene rings. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci., 2013

Abstract:Veratryl alcohol was synthesized through the reduction of sodium borohydride from veratraldehyde with isopropanol as solvent, followed by solvent extraction and distillation under reduced pressure. Better reaction conditions are: n(sodium borohydride):n(veratraldehyde)=0.32:1, temperature 20 ℃, under which the reduction efficiency is improved and the consumption of sodium borohydride is reduced. The product is highly pure (GC>98%) with an overall yield of 85.2% after rectification. Structure of the product was confirmed by GC-MS.

Abstract:2,2-Diethoxypropane was prepared by acetone and anhydrous alcohol under triethyl orthoformate as dehydration agent and ammonium chloride as catalyst. Effects of reaction condition on the condensation were investigated, according to the method of single factor test. The preferably condition was that acetone 26 g (0.45 mol), triethyl orthoformate 74 g (0.50 mol), alcohol 75 mL and ammonium chloride 0.72 g were reacted under reflux for 3 h. The yield was 77.5%.

Abstract:SnCl 4/SiO 2 was applied as a new catalyst to the esterification of acetic acid and sec-butyl alcohol. It has high activity and excellent selectivity as well as no corrosion to the facilities. Various reaction parameters such as ratio of alcohol to acid, catalyst amount, reaction time and reaction temperature were carefully studied. The optimum reaction conditions were: molar ratio of acetic acid to sec-butyl alcohol 1.8∶1, amount of catalyst was 1.5 g, reaction time was 6 h, reaction temperature 150 ℃. The conversion of acetic acid reached 89.31 % and the selectivity of esterification was 100% under the optimum conditions.

Abstract:The synthesis of 2, 4-diisopropyl-5,5-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane through the acetalization of isobutyraldehyde with 2, 2, 4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol (TMPD) catalyzed by the novel carbon based acid was first carried out. High conversion (≥98%) and specific selectivity were obtained using the novel carbon based acid, which kept high activity after it was reused 5 times. Moreover, the catalyst could be used to catalyze the acetalization and ketalization of different aldehydes and ketones with superior yield. The yield of several products was over 90%. The novel heterogeneous catalyst has the distinct advantages of high activity, strikingly simple workup procedure, non-pollution, and reusability, which will contribute to the success of the green process greatly.

Abstract:The acetalization and ketalization of various aldehydes or ketones, namely cyclohexanone, butanone, acetone, propionaldehyde, butyraldehyde, isobutyraldehyde, valeraldehyde, isopentyl aldehyde, octyl aldehyde, and benzaldehyde, with glycol on zeolite Hβ catalyst were studied. Effects of reaction conditions, namely reaction time, mole ratio of aldehydes or ketones to glycol, and catalyst doasge, on reaction were investigated. Zeolite Hβ was an efficient catalyst for acetalization and ketalization with high conversion and selectivity under mild reaction conditions. Optimal reaction conditions were: mole ratio of aldehydes or ketones to glycol 1:1.2, catalyst dosage (1 mol aldehydes or ketones) 2 g, and reaction time 2 h. Under optimal reaction conditions, conversion of aldehydes or ketones and selectivity of acetals or ketals were more than 90% and 98%, respectively.

Abstract:Abstract Vinyl acetate, as an essential organic chemical raw material, can be used to produce polyvinyl acetate, polyester vinyl alcohol, and other products. The existing classical vinyl acetate production process has the problems of low product purity and excessive heat load. In this study, in the classical design of the process, acetylene is separated first, and then acetaldehyde is removed with the formation of an azeotrope between ethylene acetate and water. Meanwhile, considering the solubility of acetaldehyde in water and insolubility of vinyl acetate in water, the process was optimized to separate acetic acid after removing acetylene, so as to avoid the azeotrope formation of vinyl acetate and water. The nonrandom two-liquid-Hayden–O’Connell thermodynamic hybrid model was used to simulate the classical process and improved process (IP). Finally, the reflux ratio and theoretical tray number of the main separation equipment of IP were optimized to get the better parameters. The simulated results show that the purity of vinyl acetate increased from 99.1% to 99.8%, the cooling energy consumption was reduced by 16.83%, and the thermal energy consumption was reduced by 6.18%. At the same time, the equipment investment was also decreased.

Abstract:Telomerization of isobutylene with carbon tetrachloride in the presence of copper salts- aliphatic amines as the initiator system was investigated, and the 1 : 1 adduct (1, 1, 1, 3-tetrachloro-3-methylbutane) was obtained in yields over 90 mol %, based on the isobutylene. Then the hydrolyses of 1 : 1 adduct with sulfuric acid were carried out under various reaction conditions.From the results of these investigations, it was confirmed that β β-dimethylacrylic acid is prepared in a two-stage process from isobutylene in overall yield of 7080 mol %, based on isobutylene.

Abstract:Butyl ethanoate was synthesized by esterification of ethanoic acid and n butyl alcohol using p toluene sulphonic acid as a catalyst. When ethanoic acid is 100mmol, n(ethanoic acid) ∶n(butyl alcohol) ∶n(catalyst)=3 ∶1 ∶0.006, the yield was 99.14% after 1.5h reaction with no water carrying reagent.

Abstract:The catalytic conversion of ethanol into 1,3-butadiene has once again attracted widely attention. However, the kinetics of 1,3-butadiene synthesis from ethanol are rarely reported. In this work, the kinetics of 1,3-butadiene synthesis from ethanol and acetaldehyde over ZrO2-MgO-SiO2 catalyst developed by our research group were studied. The study was carried out in an isothermal integral reactor at temperatures of 573–613 K with various space velocity. The kinetics of two main side reactions, dehydration of ethanol to ethylene and ether, were also measured. It was assumed that the aldol condensation rate determining step followed the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism and the Eley-Rideal mechanism respectively, from which the corresponding kinetics models were derived. The results showed that the aldol condensation step followed the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism over ZrO2-MgO-SiO2 catalyst, and the activation energy was calculated to be 54.6 kJ/mol. The obtained kinetics models were verified under the conditions of different ethanol/acetaldehyde molar ratio. The discrepancy between calculated outlet flow rates of key components and the experimental values was within ± 16%, indicating the validity of the obtained kinetics models. The research results can provide some theoretical guidance for the reactor design of 1,3-butadiene synthesis from ethanol.

Abstract:tert-Butyl phenol is an important intermediate for organic synthesis and the preparation of tert-butyl phenol under mild conditions is of great significance. In our work, five kinds of deep eutectic solvents were synthesized to catalyze the alkylation of phenol and tert-butyl alcohol. The deep eutectic solvent consisting of choline bisulfate (ChBf) and p-toluene sulfonic acid (p-TsOH) was proved to be a better catalyst. By employing the response surface methodology to optimize the reaction conditions, we found that 99.5% conversion of tert-butyl alcohol was obtained at a reaction temperature of 30 degrees C. The temperature of alkylation reaction was much milder than those in previous reports. The kinetic model for this reaction was established based on the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method and the recycle performance for the catalyst was evaluated. Excellent conversion of tert-butyl alcohol can be obtained after recycling eight times. This method provides a potential route for the synthesis of tert-butyl phenol under mild conditions in industry.

Abstract:The macro-dynamics for synthesis of vinyl acetate on Zn(Ac)2—acticarbon catalyst was studied. Consulting actual plant conditions by means of computer simulation, the parameters and reaction conditions for a fixed bed reactor used to produce vinyl acetate in acetylene method were calculated. The result shows that total heat transfer coefficient between catalyst bed and heat conductive oil could be affected by variety of conditions: catalyst diameter, airspeed, temperature and speed of heat conductive oil, and tube diameter in reactor. Analyzing the principles about how the factors affect the heat conduction, a laboratory reactor was made according to the analogue data. The actual temperature distribution of catalyst bed could inosculate with the analogue results roughly.

Abstract:A method for the synthesis of betulin vinyl ether using calcium carbide as a source of acetylene has been proposed. Optimal conditions for synthesis of betulin mono- and divinyl ether have been selected. It has been found that the addition of alkali metal fluorides in an excess of calcium carbide promotes the formation of a divinylated product. Two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy proves the formation of monovinyl ether at the primary alcohol group.

Synthesis of Isoamyl Butyrate by Macroporous Resin As Catalyst and Microwaves Induction

Abstract:The isoamyl butyrate was synthesized by esterification of n-butyric acid and isoamyl alcohol with macroporous resin as catalyst by use of microwave induction. The effects of microwave irradiation power, reaction time, molar ratio of isoamyl alcohol to n-butyric acid and the use level of catalyst on esterification reaction were investigated. The experimental results showed that the optimum conditions were as follows: 0.20 mol n-butyric acid, the molar ratio of isoamyl alcohol to n-butyric acid was 1.6∶1, the use level of catalyst was 15 % of the reagent, microwave power as 350 W, and reaction time as 20 min. Under the above conditions, the yield of isoamyl butyrate could reach up to 96 %. The synthesized product was confirmed by refractive index and IR.

Abstract:The Preparation technologies for tert butylamine with isobutene were bricfly reviewed. Emphasis is given on the new researches about direct amination of isobutene to tert butylamine. With analysis of thermodynamics, the views on selecting the process of direct amination of mixing C 4 alkenes to tert butylamine is economics for China. To realize the direct amination of mixing C 4 alkenes to tert butylamine, it is necessary to reseach the catalyst with low temperature acidic activity.

Abstract:Tetraethoxypropane was prepared using zinc chloride as catalyst from ethyl orthoformate and ethyl vinyl ether with high yield, eliminating the use of acetic anhydride. After the reaction, the reaction mixture was treated with sodium ethylate to remove the acid. Hydrolyzing of ethyl orthoformate was avoided, hence the pollution was decreased obviously. Furthermore, the ethyl orthoformate was recycling used more than five times. Effects of catalyst, temperature and quantity of ethyl orthoformate on the reaction were investigated. Under the reaction conditions (molar ratio of ethyl orthoformate to ethyl vinyl ether 2:1, mass fraction of the catalyst to ethyl vinyl ether 5%, reaction temperature 70°C, reaction time 4 h), The average 88.8% yield was obtained.

Abstract:The invention discloses a preparation process for catalyzing and synthesizing tert-butyl acrylate by using strong acid cation exchange resin as a catalyst, belonging to the technical field of organic synthesis. The preparation process is characterized by comprising the steps of: adding crylic acid, strong acid cation exchange resin, a polymerization inhibitor A and a polymerization inhibitor B into a closed reaction kettle, dropwise adding liquefied isobutene for carrying out esterification reaction; after dropwise adding is completed, carrying out thermal insulation; after the thermal insulation is finished, releasing the pressure of the closed reaction kettle, filtering, extracting a liquid component to enter a rectifying tower; and sequentially separating byproducts of tertiary butanol and diisobutylene and a target project of the tert-butyl acrylate. The preparation process has the beneficial effects that the liquefied isobutene is adopted to be directly catalyzed together with the crylic acid and the cation exchange resin under the action of the polymerization inhibitor A and the polymerization inhibitor B to form a specific catalysis system, gaseous isobutene is not needed to be dissolved in a solvent containing crylic acid for carrying out esterification reaction under the action of the catalyst, and thus the procedure of absorbing a solvent in subsequent operation is removed, resources are saved and procedures are saved.
