Abstract:In this paper, by variational methods, we study the existence and nonexistence of positive solutions for a class of generalized quasilinear Schrödinger equations involving a Kirchhoff-type perturbation with critical Sobolev exponent. In particular, the first result is based on the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. Moreover, the second results are established via the Pohožaev identity. Finally, the last results are not based on the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition and we use generalized conditions to prove the results.

Abstract:In this paper, the following critical biharmonic elliptic problem \begin{eqnarray*} \begin{cases} \Delta^2u= \lambda u+\mu u\ln u^2+|u|^{2^{**}-2}u, &x\in\Omega,\\ u=\dfrac{\partial u}{\partial \nu}=0, &x\in\partial\Omega \end{cases} \end{eqnarray*} is considered, where $\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^{N}$ is a bounded smooth domain with $N\geq5$. Some interesting phenomenon occurs due to the uncertainty of the sign of the logarithmic term. It is shown, mainly by using Mountain Pass Lemma, that the problem admits at lest one nontrivial weak solution under some appropriate assumptions of $\lambda$ and $\mu$. Moreover, a nonexistence result is also obtained. Comparing the results in this paper with the known ones, one sees that some new phenomena occur when the logarithmic perturbation is introduced.

Abstract:This is the final part of a series of papers where we study perturbations of divergence form second order elliptic operators by first and zero order terms, whose complex coefficients lie in critical spaces, via the method of layer potentials. In particular, we show that the well-posedness (with natural non-tangential maximal function estimates) of the Dirichlet, Neumann and regularity problems for complex Hermitian, block form, or constant-coefficient divergence form elliptic operators in the upper half-space are all stable under such perturbations. Due to the lack of the classical De Giorgi–Nash–Moser theory in our setting, our method to prove the non-tangential maximal function estimates relies on a completely new argument: We obtain a certain weak- " $N<s$ " estimate, which we eventually couple with square function bounds, weighted extrapolation theory, and a bootstrapping argument to recover the full bound. Finally, we show the existence and uniqueness of solutions in a relatively broad class. As a corollary, we claim the first results in an unbounded domain concerning the -solvability of boundary value problems for the magnetic Schrödinger operator when the magnetic potential and the electric potential V are accordingly small in the norm of a scale-invariant Lebesgue space.</s\)<>

Abstract:In this paper, we deal with the existence and multiplicity of component-wise nontrivial critical points (i.e., whose components are both nonzero) for an abstract C^1 -functional J defined in X × X with X being a reflexive Banach space. Applying the Nehari manifold method and the minimization method along with the geometric properties of the constructed functions, we investigate the existence and multiplicity of component-wise nontrivial critical points of J . As applications, we prove the existence and multiplicity of component-wise nontrivial solutions for the second-order and fourth-order elliptic systems. Our theoretical results improve and extend the relevant results in the existing literature.

Abstract:We study the existence of nontrivial solution of the following equation without compactness: (-Δ)pαu+up-2u=f(x,u), x∈RN, where N,p≥2, α∈(0,1), (-Δ)pα is the fractional p-Laplacian, and the subcritical p-superlinear term f∈C(RN×R) is 1-periodic in xi for i=1,2,…,N. Our main difficulty is that the weak limit of (PS) sequence is not always the weak solution of fractional p-Laplacian type equation. To overcome this difficulty, by adding coercive potential term and using mountain pass theorem, we get the weak solution uλ of perturbation equations. And we prove that uλ→u as λ→0. Finally, by using vanishing lemma and periodic condition, we get that u is a nontrivial solution of fractional p-Laplacian equation.

Abstract:We prove the existence of critical points for a mean field type functional on a compact Riemann surface (Sigma, g) with smooth boundary partial derivative Sigma. Abstract:In this paper, we prove the existence and multiplicity results of solutions with prescribed L2-norm for a class of Kirchhoff type problems −a+b∫R3|∇u|2dxΔu−λu=f(u)inR3,where a,b>0 are constants, λ∈R andf∈C(R,R). To obtain such solutions, we look into critical points of the energy functional Eb(u)=a2∫R3|∇u|2+b4∫R3|∇u|22−∫R3F(u)constrained on the L2-spheres S(c)=u∈H1(R3):||u||22=c. Here, c>0 and F(s)≔∫0sf(t)dt. Under some mild assumptions on f, we show that critical points of Eb unbounded from below on S(c) exist for c>0. In addition, we establish the existence of infinitely many radial critical points {unb} of Eb on S(c) provided that f is odd. Finally, the asymptotic behavior of unb as b↘0 is analyzed. These conclusions extend some known ones in previous papers.

Abstract:In the present paper, we consider the following singularly perturbed problem: {-epsilon(2)Delta u + V(x)u = epsilon(-alpha) (I-alpha * F(u))f(u), x is an element of R-N; u is an element of H-1(R-N), where epsilon > 0 is a parameter, N >= 3, alpha is an element of (0, N), F(t) = integral(t)(0) f(s)ds and I-alpha : R-N -> R is the Riesz potential. By introducing some new tricks, we prove that the above problem admits a semiclassical ground state solution (epsilon is an element of (0, epsilon(0))) and a ground state solution (epsilon = 1) under the general "Berestycki-Lions assumptions" on the nonlinearity f which are almost necessary, as well as some weak assumptions on the potential V. When epsilon = 1, our results generalize and improve the ones in [V. Moroz, J. Van Schaftingen, T. Am. Math. Soc. 367 (2015) 6557-6579] and [H. Berestycki, P.L. Lions, Arch. Rational Mech. Anal. 82 (1983) 313-345] and some other related literature. In particular, we propose a new approach to recover the compactness for a (PS)-sequence, and our approach is useful for many similar problems.
