Abstract:In the title compound, C23H14N2, biphenyl and 2,2'-bipyridine units are perpendicularly cross-linked by a C atom. The dihedral angle between the mean planes of the biphenyl and 2,2'-bipyridine units is 86.31 (4)degrees. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular C-H center dot center dot center dot N interactions.

Abstract:The asymmetric unit of the crystal structure of the title compound, C25H18N2·0.5H2O, contains two independent dipyridylspiro(cyclopropanefluorene) (CPF) molecules and one solvent water molecule. The two CPF molecules show significantly different dihedral angles between the pyridine rings and fluorene plane. The water molecule links with the CPF molecules via O—H...N hydrogen bonding to form a one-dimensional supramolecular chain.

Abstract:In the molecular structure of the title compound, C20H15NO2, the isoindolin-1-one unit is planar, the maximum atomic deviation being 0.048 (2) Å. The two biphenyl rings are twisted with respect to the isoindolin-1-one plane, making dihedral angles of 33.21 (9) and 33.34 (9)°. The two benzene rings of the biphenyl substituent are oriented at a dihedral angle of 35.43 (11)° to each other. An intramolecular O—H⋯O interaction occurs and intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal structure.

Abstract:The fluorene fragment of the title compound, C22H25N, is essentially planar, with an r.m.s deviation of the five-membered ring of 0.005 (2) Å. The dihedral angle between this ring and the outer benzene rings are 1.5 (2) and 0.7 (2)° while that between the benzene rings is 2.1 (2)°. The cyano group makes an angle of 0.3 (2)° with the attached benzene ring.

Abstract:In the title compound, C27H19O3N, the dihedral angle between the aromatic rings of the biphenyl unit is 38.14 (2)° and the C-O-C-C torsion angle in the benz-yloxy benzene fragment is 179.1 (2)°. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H⋯O inter-actions forming S(9) chains propagating along [010]. The most important contributions to the Hirshfeld surface arise from H⋯H (32.4%) and C⋯H/H⋯C (37.0%) contacts.
