Abstract:The title compound, (1R,2R,3R,5S)-3-(3-chlorophenyl)-1-hydroxy-2-methyl-6-phenyl-8-oxa-6-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octan-7-one, was synthesized and characterized by H-1 and C-13 NMR and HRMS spectroscopy. Its absolute molecular configuration was investigated by X-ray crystallography. The crystal structure analysis revealed that the structure exhibits intermolecular hydrogen bonds of the type O-H horizontal ellipsis O. The methyl group and chlorophenyl group are located in the cis configuration. The conformation is stabilized by weak intermolecular C-H... O interactions.

Abstract:Crystals of the title compound, C13H10N4O4, were obtained from a condensation reaction of 2-nitrobenzaldehyde and 4-nitrophenylhydrazine. Significantly different C-N(nitro) and N-O bond distances are observed for the o- and p-nitro groups. The aromatic C-C bonds close to the imino group are longer than the others in the same benzene ring. The overlapped arrangement of nearly parallel benzene rings from neighboring molecules and centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.9370 (9) Angstrom suggest pi-pi stacking.

Abstract:Single crystals of the title compound, C19H16N2O4, were obtained under hydro-thermal conditions by an unintended recrystallization of the employed microcrystalline starting material. The [(pyridin-4-yl)meth-oxy]benzoic acid unit is nearly planar, with a maximum deviation from the least-squares plane of 0.194 (2) Å. This plane is inclined by 35.82 (6)° to that defined by the second (pyridin-4-yl)meth-oxy group [in which the largest deviation from the least-squares plane is 0.013 (2) Å]. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds involving the acid hy-droxy group and a pyridine N atom into chains parallel to [-201].

Abstract:In the racemic title compound, C28H30O2, the naphthyl ring systems subtend a dihedral angle of 68.59 (1)° and the mol-ecular conformation is consolidated by a pair of intra-molecular C-H⋯π contacts. The crystal packing features a weak C-H⋯π contact and van der Waals forces. A Hirshfeld surface analysis of the crystal structure reveals that the most significant contributions are from H⋯H (73.2%) and C⋯H/H⋯C (21.2%) contacts.

Abstract:The title compound n-propyl-4-[2-(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yloxy)benzylamino] benzoate (C23H25N3O5) was synthesized by the reaction of 2-methanesulfonyl-4,6-dimethoxy pyrimidine and N-(4'-propoxycarbonylphenyl)-2-hydroxybenzylamine in THF, and its structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal is of monoclinic, space group P2/n with a = 14.8504(8), b = 9.4420(4), c = 16.3129(9) Angstrom, beta = 104.881(1)degrees, V = 2210.6(2) Angstrom(3), Z = 4, D-c = 1.272 g/cm(3), F(000) = 896.00, mu(MoKalpha) = 0.91cm(-1), R = 0.051 and wR = 0.118. Of the 19761 collected reflections, 5004 were unique. The title compound was also characterized by elemental analysis, IR, MS and H NMR. In the molecule there exist three different planes. In each of them a conjugated system is formed. The dihedrals between the pyrimidine plane and two phenyl planes (C(7)similar toC(12), C(14)similar toC(19)) are 99.18 and 164.15degrees, respectively, and the dihedral between these two phenyl rings is 94.93degrees. The conformation of the title compound is of boat-like.

Abstract:In the molecular structure of the title compound, C20H15NO2, the isoindolin-1-one unit is planar, the maximum atomic deviation being 0.048 (2) Å. The two biphenyl rings are twisted with respect to the isoindolin-1-one plane, making dihedral angles of 33.21 (9) and 33.34 (9)°. The two benzene rings of the biphenyl substituent are oriented at a dihedral angle of 35.43 (11)° to each other. An intramolecular O—H⋯O interaction occurs and intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal structure.

Abstract:The title compound, C19H18BrN3O3, was synthesized by the reaction of 2-methanesulfonyl-4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine and N-(2-bromophenyl)-2-hydroxybenzylamine in tetrahydrofuran. There are three different planes in the molecule, each of which is conjugated. The dihedral angles between the pyrimidine plane and the planes of the two phenyl rings are 107.85 (4) and 77.38 (2) degrees, and the dihedral angle between the planes of the two phenyl rings is 103.15(3)degrees.

Abstract:The title compound, C16H17N3O3, is racemic as it crystallizes in a centrosymmetric space group (P ), although the trans disposition of substituents about the central C-C bond is established. The five- and six-membered rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 75.88 (8)°. In the crystal, N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds form chains of mol-ecules extending along the c-axis direction that are connected by inversion-related pairs of O-H⋯N into ribbons. The ribbons are linked by C-H⋯π(ring) inter-actions, forming layers parallel to the ab plane. A Hirshfeld surface analysis indicates that the most important contributions for the crystal packing are from H⋯H (45.9%), H⋯N/N⋯H (23.3%), H⋯C/C⋯H (16.2%) and H⋯O/O⋯H (12.3%) inter-actions. Hydrogen bonding and van der Waals inter-actions are the dominant inter-actions in the crystal packing. The volume of the crystal voids and the percentage of free space were calculated to be 100.94 Å3 and 13.20%, showing that there is no large cavity in the crystal packing. Evaluation of the electrostatic, dispersion and total energy frameworks indicates that the stabilization is dominated by the electrostatic energy contributions in the title compound. Moreover, the DFT-optimized structure at the B3LYP/6-311 G(d,p) level is compared with the experimentally determined mol-ecular structure in the solid state. The HOMO-LUMO behaviour was elucidated to determine the energy gap.

Abstract:The title compound, 4-(4-methoxyphenethyl)-5-(p-tolyl)-2,4-dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazol-3-one (C18H19N3O2), was characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. In order to compare the experimental and theoretical compatibility, the DFT and HF modeling technique was also used. When the theoretical and experimental results are compared, it is seen that the geometric parameters from both investigation techniques are quite compatible. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis shows that the structure has crystallized in the orthorhombic space group Pna21. The planes of the triazole and benzyl rings in the molecule make dihedral angles of 46.14(1)ο (C1-C6) and 43.89(1)ο (C12-C17). The molecules in the asymmetric unit are linked by intermolecular N–H···O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. Frontier molecular orbital (FMO) analysis was performed to describe intramolecular interactions. For the molecule the energy difference between the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) and highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) was calculated as − 4.95 eV. Potential energy surface (PES) analysis was performed by a semi-empirical method to determine the stable states of molecular structure and to compare them with XRD geometry. Abstract:4-(tert-Butyl)-4-nitro-1,1-biphenyl has been synthesized, and its structure has been characterized by using some spectroscopic and single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. It crystallizes in a monoclinic crystal system with space group P21/n and unit cell parameters: a = 6.4478(3) Å, b = 9.2477(4) Å, c = 23.4572(9) Å, β = 95.114(4)°, V = 1393.11(10) Å3, Z = 4. The molecular structure has been solved by using the intrinsic phasing method. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H···O interactions. Computational studies were performed using density functional theory (DFT) and Hartree-Fock (HF) methods. The optimized geometry obtained from DFT and HF in the gas phase was compared with solid-phase experimental data retrieved from single-crystal X-ray diffraction results. Frontier molecular orbitals, such as the HOMO/LUMO energy gap, the molecular electrostatic potential, and Mulliken atomic charges, have been investigated. The HOMO LUMO energy gap of 3.97 eV indicates that the molecule is soft and highly reactive. The Hirshfeld surface analysis and their associated fingerprint plots have been used to quantitatively validate the interactions. Further insilico molecular docking studies have been performed with the molecular target Type-II topoisomerase (PDB ID: 1JIJ) and their results suggest that 4-(tert-butyl)-4-nitro-1,1-biphenyl could be considered an anticancer drug.

Abstract:The title compound, C23H24O4Si, was synthesized by photo-induced reactions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbca, with a=9.7299(2), b=19.6064(4), c=21.6264(5)Å, V=4125.63(15)Å3, Z=8 and Dx 1.264 g cm-3. The dihedral angle between the cyclobutene and the attached benzene ring is 38.04(13)°. The molecules are linked into an infinite chain along the a-axis. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak C-H…O and C-H…π interactions.

Abstract:The pyrazolo-pyrimidine moiety in the title mol-ecule, C13H12N4S, is planar with the methyl-sulfanyl substituent lying essentially in the same plane. The benzyl group is rotated well out of this plane by 73.64 (6)°, giving the mol-ecule an approximate L shape. In the crystal, C-H⋯π(ring) inter-actions and C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds form tubes extending along the a axis. Furthermore, there are π-π inter-actions between parallel phenyl rings with centroid-to-centroid distances of 3.8418 (12) Å. A Hirshfeld surface analysis of the crystal structure indicates that the most important contributions to the crystal packing are from H⋯H (47.0%), H⋯N/N⋯H (17.6%) and H⋯C/C⋯H (17.0%) inter-actions. The volume of the crystal voids and the percentage of free space were calculated to be 76.45 Å3 and 6.39%, showing that there is no large cavity in the crystal packing. Evaluation of the electrostatic, dispersion and total energy frameworks indicate that the cohesion of the crystal structure is dominated by the dispersion energy contributions.
National disease burden of respiratory viruses detected in children by polymerase chain reaction

Abstract:Background. The epidemiology of community-acquired respiratory viruses at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin between 1996 and 1998 was examined with molecular [multiplex (M) PCR] and standard virologic methods. Methods and results. A total of 3325 patients with lower respiratory infection (LRI) [bronchiolitis (42%), pneumonia (38%) and croup (12%)] were identified. It is estimated that 545 000 LRI hospitalizations occur each year in the United States in children younger than 18 years old (viral, 428 000; pneumonia, 221 000; bronchiolitis, 222 000; croup, 65 000), including a continued increase in bronchiolitis hospitalizations (47.8/1000; <1 year). The most common viruses detected each year in hospitalized children included respiratory syncytial virus (A and B; 117 000), parainfluenza virus (PIV-1 and -2, 48 000; PIV-3, 18 000) and influenza (A and B, 39 000). With multiplex reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (MPCR), different patient populations demonstrated different LRI epidemiology in relation to specific syndromes and viral causes. At least 21% of LRI hospitalizations were in children with significant medical problems. PIVs were detected much more frequently in immunocompromised children than in previously healthy children (33% vs. 16%). Similarly 15% of respiratory syncytial virus was detected between May and October, mostly in immunocompromised children. Influenza caused 19% of bronchiolitis in previously healthy children, and no virus could be reliably predicted based on clinical presentation, including wheezing. Of children hospitalized for LRI, 40% tested positive for the seven most common respiratory viruses by MPCR. Conclusions. Work is under way to expand the number of viruses detected by MPCR and to determine whether newly discovered viruses, such as human metapneumovirus, contribute to the burden of pediatric LRI hospitalizations.

Abstract:In the title compound, C9H9N3OS, the plane of the benzene ring forms a dihedral angle of 33.40 (5)° with that of the triazole group. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds involving the phenol -OH group and one of the unsubstituted N atoms of the triazole ring, resulting in chains along [010]. These chains are further extended into a layer parallel to (001) by weak C-H⋯N hydrogen-bond inter-actions. Aromatic π-π stacking [centroid-centroid separation = 3.556 (1) Å] between the triazole rings links the layers into a three-dimensional network.
