Abstract:Based on the communication protocol of dPMR,architecture for implementing the channel coding on a FPGA chip is presented.The results show that the proposed system is low-delay and low-complexity by the optimization of circuit structure.The system can apply the protocol of dPMR.

Abstract:In recent years, new communication technologies has made rapid development. Orthogo-nal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a core technology in the fourth-generation wireless communication field(4G). The basic principle of OFDM is to split a high-rate data stream into a number of lower. In OFDM system design, a number of parameters are up for consideration, such as the number of subcarriers, guard time, symbol duration, subcarrier spacing, modulation type persubcarrier, and the type of forward error correction coding. The choice of parameters is influenced by system requirements such as available bandwidth, required bit rate, tolerable delay spread, and Doppler values. This paper designs and implements an OFDM receiver system. The system includes interleaving and de-interleaving module, RS encoding and decoding module, QPSK modulation and demodulation module and some system composed of a number of auxiliary modules. This paper analyses and tests efficiency and other factors of the system, and demonstrating the use of FPGA technology enables to receive signal in the OFDM system so well. It has some advantages of occupying less hardware resources, fast running and having good stability.

Abstract:It is becoming more and more popular to support multiple radio broadcasting standards, such as Frequency Modulation (FM) and Digital Radio Mondiale for Amplitude Modulation (DRM30), on one channelization system for content and metadata indexing applications. However, existing works mainly focus on supporting only one standard, because different standards usually have different channel characteristics in term of bandwidth and carrier location. This paper presents a flexible and resource-efficient architecture that can simultaneously channelize the entire FM and DRM30 bands. In particular, a coarse/finergrained division based approach is proposed to implement the multi-standard channelization. Therefore, the parameters of each output channel, such as center frequency and output sampling rate, can be independently configured at run-time. Finally, the proposed architecture, which consists of one polyphase Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) filter bank, one tuning unit, and one resampling filter, is implemented in a single field programmable gate array (FPGA). The experiment results indicate that the proposed design can support both FM and DRM30 standards, and requires less FPGA resources than the existing works which can only support one standard.

Abstract:A design and implementation method of H.264/AVC encoder based on mixed structure is introduced,in which DSP is used as a main processor and FPGA as an assistant processor to accelerate arithmetic by hardware. In order to meet required real-time performance,hardware engine is designed for the most complicated and time-consuming module. According to the engine,it constitutes a software and hardware communication agreement,which makes control and data transporting easily,and realizes the real-time performances which H.264/AVC D1 coder needs.

Abstract:Data transmission channel is the most power consumption part in large scale seismic data acquisition system. In this paper, 9B/10B, a high bit rate channel modulation code is introduced. In order to reduce the implementation complexity, a decoder using direct combinational logic expressions is developed. Its performances based on FPGA is discussed, comparing with the traditional 8B/10B code. Finally, Experiment results showed that a maxim 12% power reduction had been made by using this newly developed channel code.

Abstract:The digital Private Mobile Radio (dPMR) is a standard for digital trunked system which is proposed by European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). The protocol describes the Physical Layer (PL), the Data Link Layer (DLL) of Air Interface (AI), and the standardized services and facilities of the mobile radio. In this paper, we propose a Digital Base-band (DBB) processing unit, including Micro Control Unit (MCU), call control interface, channel codec and base-band modem, etc. The DBB solution is realized by Verilog HDL, simultaneously, Modelsim software is adopted to simulate all the modules of the DBB unit. The simulation and verification show that the designed DBB unit for dPMR works as excepted.

Abstract:Serially coded and interleaved continuous phase modulation (C2PM) with iterative demodulation and decoding is investigated for burst communication. The optimization and simplified decoding for C2PM system with short frame are discussed, including simplified demodulator and matched interleaver. Simulation results show that for coded GMSK system under AWGN, the performance is better than individual convolutional code. Especially when BER is 1×10-5, it performs better than Turbo code and LDPC code with the same frame length, and there is no error floor occurring. Complexity analysis shows that the coded GMSK system has lower implementation complexity in comparison with Turbo and LDPC code. Moreover, efficient hardware implementation based on Xilinx Vertex-4 FPGA platform is presented. The practical performances prove that this system is suitable for burst communication.

Abstract:Based on software radio technology,this paper designs a new algorithm for differential quadrature reference phase shift keying (DQPSK) modulation and demodulation system,realizes DQPSK full digital modulation and demodulation on the platform of field programmable gate array (FPGA),and upgrades the circuit through software programming.Compared with traditional DQPSK modulation and demodulation circuit,it not only greatly reduces the size of printed circuit board(PCB),but also can change and upgrade the modulation and demodulation algorithm without changing the circuit,thus reducing the cost of hardware upgrade and algorithm adjustment.Intel's Quartus Ⅱ software is used as the verification platform,Verilog HDL language is used to realize the functional design of each module,and ModelSim software is used to carry out functional simulation to verify the correctness of the algorithm.The operating frequency of the system reaches 132 MHz,which satisfies the expected requirement.

Abstract:The Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) is a European digital trunked system standard proposed in 2006. Digital trunked radio system is a special mobile communication system that helps to enhance the work efficiency and security. The DMR over-the-air protocol from ETSI specifies the 4-level Continuous Phase Frequency Shift Keying (CPFSK) as its standard modulation scheme. In this paper, we propose a digital IF solution for the narrowband DMR system and provide both simulation and FPGA implementation result. The BER performance of the proposed method is better than multi-symbol differential detection at the DMR specified BER level. The proposed digital IF scheme can be implemented on most of the hardware platforms using software radio.

Abstract:With the development of wireless video technology and embedded technology, a dedicated digital signal processor (DSP) can achieve the video transmission stably and flexibly. Some existing wireless video transmission algorithms do not perform well in response to complex channel environments. A pseudo-analog video algorithm that can be run in a dedicated instruction set was proposed. At the transmitter, the image data which are removed spatially redundant are divided into L-shaped blocks for power allocation, and the digital signal are sent to CRC and Turbo coding. Finally, the modulated digital signal and the pseudo-analog data after power allocation are sent to framing. The receiver includes channel estimation and de-framing, recovers digital signal and pseudo-analog signal through error detection and decoding. We have optimized the algorithm at the assembly level, so that the entire system is more flexible. The entire transfer system will run on the FPGA and hardware DSP boards for debugging.

Abstract:A new step-by-step decoding algorithm is proposed for reducing the decode complexity of Reed-Solomon(12,9) code in ETSI DMR standard.The algorithm consists of syndrome computing,error locating and error computing.As compared with RS(255,239) and RS(255,249),the algorithm does not need much more ROM and complicated logical control.Inverse operation is also decreased and transformed into Galois Field multiplier.The algorithm is verified by being downloadied to Xilinx FPGA.

Abstract:Low-density parity-check(LDPC) code is one of the most effective error-controlling methods,in which the quasi-cyclic(QC) LDPC code is the most popular class.This paper proposes a design method for multi-rate QC-LDPC decoder,and then describes the implementation and test on FPGA.The test results show that the resource occupied by the multi-rate decoder is not more than two times of the resource occupied by the single-rate decoder,and this multi-rate decoder could support at least 3 code rates with the throughput higher than 100Mbps when the iteration number is fixed to 16 and the clock frequency set to 110 MHz.

Abstract:Presented a structure of a 1.6 Kb/s speech coding algorithm based on the method of "CPU soft core + algorithm IP".This structure was implemented on FPGA device,and the experimental results indicate that the structure is feasible,and it can satisfy the real-time requirements that speech coding algorithm needs,it also provide a proof that the structure is feasible for the next stage of the speech chip design.Meanwhile,as the module algorithms IP in this structure can also be applied in many other speech coding algorithms,this structure is universal for the implementation of different speech coding algorithms.

Abstract:A novel efficient partial sharing channelization structure with odd and even stacking is designed and implemented. There are two special designs in the proposed structure. Firstly, by the intensive channel overlap design, for non-cooperative wideband signals, the proposed structure can achieve good parameter estimation accuracy and high probability of complete interception. Secondly, based on the partial sharing design developed in this paper, the computation burden of the proposed structure can be greatly reduced compared with the traditional directly implemented structures. Experiments and numerical simulations are conducted to evaluate the proposed structure, which shows its improvements over traditional methods in terms of field programmable gate arrays (FPGA) resource consumption and parameter estimation accuracy.

Abstract:In this experiment, we demonstrate a real-time intensity modulation and direct detection (IM/DD) system based on a field programmable gate array (FPGA). For high-speed parallel signal processing, we propose and implement the simplified parallel-constant modulus algorithm (CMA) and decision-directed least mean square (DDLMS) equalizers with low complexity and low latency. Moreover, the bit-class probabilistic shaping (PS) scheme is adopted with very few hardware resources. The digital signal processing (DSP) steps are implemented in the XCVU9P-FLGB2104-2-I Xilinx FPGA with a clock frequency of 230.4 MHz. Based on the experimental results, 4 × 29.4912 Gbit/s PS-pulse amplitude modulation (PAM4) signals can be successfully transmitted over 25 km of standard single-mode fiber (SSMF) while satisfying the hard-decision forward error correction (HD-FEC) threshold at 3.8 × 10. Compared with the uniformly distributed PAM4 signal, the low-complexity PS scheme can improve the receiver sensitivity by more than 1 dB.

Abstract:In this paper, we present a novel channelization architecture, which can simultaneously process two channels of complex input data and provide up to 1024 independent channels of complex output data. The proposed architecture is highly modular and generic, so that parameters of each output channel can be dynamically changed even at runtime in terms of the bandwidth, center frequency, output sampling rate, and so on. It consists of one tunable pipelined frequency transform (TPFT)-based coarse channelization block, one tuning unit, and one resampling filter. Based on the analysis of the data dependence between the subbands, a novel channel splitting scheme is proposed to enable multiple subbands to share the proposed TPFT block. The multiplier block (MB) and subexpression sharing techniques are used to reduce the number of arithmetic units of the TPFT block. Moreover, the proposed Farrow-based resampling filter does not require division operation and dual-port RAMs resulting in significant area saving. Finally, we implement the proposed channelization architecture in a single field-programmable gate array. The experiment results indicate that our design provides the flexibility associated with the existing works, but with greater resource efficiency.

Abstract:A method is proposed about the design of a novel wireless narrow-band communication system.The method is based on digital source coding and digital channel coding.The method employs techniques such as two-point modulation and second modulation,which is compatible with the standard of Digital Private Mobile Radio(DPMR).The method is implemented through research and development.The result of experiments shows that the receiving sensitivity of the system reaches -110 dBm.The system can meet the demands of long-distance voice communication or long-distance data communication with medium or low bit rate.
