Abstract:To distribute multiple jammers in stand-off jamming quickly and accurately,and taking penetration as a combat precondition,new interference effect evaluation indicators were designed respectively from three aspects of interference degree,interference location and interference angle,and a system of radar interference effect evaluation indicators based on penetration path was established .The problem of jamming resource distribution model was solved with the new interference effect evaluation indicators .The interference area figures were drawn through computer simulation and the GUI simulation interface of penetration area was designed .The simulation results show that the distribution plan is more effective for penetration path planning and pays more attention to the protection of the penetration path .

Abstract:It is an efficient method to verify the effect of chaff-jamming through the simulation of the echoes of the object and chaff.To counter the technique of passive jamming,this paper introduces the simulation of the echoes of the plane and chaff on the basis of the principle of center of mass jamming.The result of simulation shows that the signal for object is drowned completely in a miscellaneous wave and very difficult to exam,and the object breaks away from the tracking of radars.It means the excellent effect of chaff-jamming.
Analysis of Landing Position of Explosively Formed Projectile under the Decoy Jamming of Terminal-Sensitive Projectile

Abstract:Terminal-sensitive projectiles pose a great threat to armored targets in modern battlefields. The active jamming method based on waveform decoy can effectively interfere with millimeter wave radiometer of terminal-sensitive projectile. On the basis of the dynamic process of the terminal-sensitive projectile's falling scanning, a method for calculating the position of the explosively formed projectile of the terminal-sensitive projectile based on the dynamic target is proposed. The jamming signal power received by the terminal sensitive projectile at different falling heights is simulated and calculated. Combined with the threshold power of target recognition and the dynamic compensation relationship, the landing position of the explosively formed projectile of terminal sensitive projectile is obtained, and the influencing factors of the landing position are analyzed. The simulation results provide an important reference for the technical index design of jammer.

Abstract:Jamming attacks and unintentional radio interference are some of the most urgent threats harming the dependability of wireless communication and endangering the successful deployment of pervasive applications built on top of wireless networks. Unlike the traditional approaches focusing on developing jamming defense techniques without considering the location of jammers, we take a different viewpoint that the jammers’ position should be identified and exploited for building a wide range of defense strategies to alleviate jamming. In this paper, we address the problem of localizing multiple jamming attackers coexisting in wireless networks by leveraging the network topology changes caused by jamming. We systematically analyze the jamming effects and develop a framework that can partition network topology into clusters and can successfully estimate the positions of multiple jammers even when their jamming areas are overlapping. Our experiments on a multi-hop network setup using MicaZ sensor nodes validate the feasibility of real-time collection of network topology changes under jamming and our extensive simulation results demonstrate that our approach is highly effective in localizing multiple attackers with or without the prior knowledge of the order that the jammers are turned on.
On Adjusting Power to Defend Wireless Networks from Jamming

Abstract:Wireless networks are susceptible to accidental or intentional radio interference. One way to cope with this threat is to have the radios compete with the jammer, whereby the network nodes adapt their transmission power to improve the chance for successful communication. In this paper, we examine issues associated with using power control both theoretically and experimentally. We begin by examining the two-party, single-jammer scenario, where we explore the underlying communication theory associated with jamming. We note that the effect of the jammer upon source-receiver communications is not isotropic. We then discuss the potential for improving communication reliability through experiments conducted using Mica2 motes, and in particular explore the feasibility of power-control for competing against jammers. Next, we turn to examining the more complicated scenario consisting of a multi-hop wireless network. We show the complex jamming effect by applying the non-isotropic model of jamming to a multi-hop wireless network, and it is necessary to have a feed-back based power control protocol to compete with jamming interference.

The Feasibility of Launching and Detecting Jamming Attacks in Wireless Networks.

Abstract:Wireless networks are built upon a shared medium that makes it easy for adversaries to launch jamming-style attacks. These attacks can be easily accomplished by an adversary emitting radio frequency signals that do not follow an underlying MAC protocol. Jamming attacks can severely interfere with the normal operation of wireless networks and, consequently, mechanisms are needed that can cope with jamming attacks. In this paper, we examine radio interference attacks from both sides of the issue: first, we study the problem of conducting radio interference attacks on wireless networks, and second we examine the critical issue of diagnosing the presence of jamming attacks. Specifically, we propose four different jamming attack models that can be used by an adversary to disable the operation of a wireless network, and evaluate their effectiveness in terms of how each method affects the ability of a wireless node to send and receive packets. We then discuss different measurements that serve as the basis for detecting a jamming attack, and explore scenarios where each measurement by itself is not enough to reliably classify the presence of a jamming attack. In particular, we observe that signal strength and carrier sensing time are unable to conclusively detect the presence of a jammer. Further, we observe that although by using packet delivery ratio we may differentiate between congested and jammed scenarios, we are nonetheless unable to conclude whether poor link utility is due to jamming or the mobility of nodes. The fact that no single measurement is sufficient for reliably classifying the presence of a jammer is an important observation, and necessitates the development of enhanced detection schemes that can remove ambiguity when detecting a jammer. To address this need, we propose two enhanced detection protocols that employ consistency checking. The first scheme employs signal strength measurements as a reactive consistency check for poor packet delivery ratios, while the second scheme employs location information to serve as the consistency check. Throughout our discussions, we examine the feasibility and effectiveness of jamming attacks and detection schemes using the MICA2 Mote platform.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a software platform which can simulate and study the countermeasure between the terminal guidance missile and the warship. A criterion for evaluating effectiveness of chaff jamming is studied and requirements of chaff RCS are discussed. Strategies of spreading chaff cloud and elusion of the warship are studied and verified by simulation results.

Abstract:The paper introduced the applications of the jamming technology for infrared decoy and chaff. It was found by the test that: (1) different additives can increase the radiation intensity of Mg-Teflon composite in the wavelength regions of 3 approx. 5 ��m and 8 approx. 14 ��m, in which Fe3O4 is best for 3 approx. 5 ��m and Mg-Al is best for 8 approx. 14 ��m; (2) the 4 mm �� 1 mm rectangular aluminum chaff can widen the frequency bandwidth, V-type chaff of the aluminum has higher radar reflection cross section (RCS) for centimeter and millimeter waves. The jamming technology of the centimeter wave chaff is also efficient in the millimeter waves.

Abstract:The signals from chaff clutter over the oceanic were simulated to evaluate the effects of the passive interference and optimize a passive interference strategy.A statistical model of the chaff cloud scattering and echo signal envelope was used to simulate the chaff clutter with multipath effects and the effective scattering coefficient of the chaff cloud as well as the multipath effects.Simulations show that chaff clouds deployed on the sea might have 4 times the power compared with those deployed in free-space.The simulated data compared well with data from actual measurements.

Abstract:Jamming devices have the capability to deliberately disrupt legitimate communications. Clustered jamming pertains to the deployment of jammers that are concentrated within specific clusters to amplify the interference. This paper models the impact of clustered jamming interference on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV)-assisted cellular networks, taking into account fluctuations of the 3-dimensional (3D) beam-width of low altitude platform (LAP) antennas. The distribution of UAVs and macro base station (MBS) is modeled by independent 3D and 2D homogeneous Poisson point processes, respectively, while jammers are modeled using an independent Matern cluster process. Antenna 3D beam-width fluctuations are modeled according to Normal distribution. The modelling centers on the probability of association as well as coverage and spectral efficiency for line-of-sight LAP, non-line-of-sight LAP, and MBS links. This modelling investigation is conducted under multiple jamming clusters and the antenna 3D beam-width fluctuations of UAV. Analytical expressions are derived to characterize association, coverage, and SE performance in the context of clustered jamming and UAV beam-width variation. The obtained results indicate that UAV-assisted cellular networks experience a notable decline in the proximity of clustered jammers. Furthermore, this performance degradation is significantly exacerbated when the antenna 3D beam-width exhibits fluctuations. Consequently, to enhance the performance of UAV-assisted cellular networks, it is imperative for system designers to consider the implementation of robust anti-jamming techniques.

Abstract:In regard to the anti-jamming issue of space TT&C monopulse tracking system, the characteris-tics of the countermeasures are discussed in the aspects of signal form, mechanism of TT&C, features of antenna and kinematics of target, implementation of mission, and the arrangement of the tracking stations, through the analysis of the monopulse countermeasures techniques of radar system. The possible platforms of jammer are analyzed. The evaluation formula of jamming intensity and the constraint condition of effec-tive jamming of TT&C monopulse are provided. The effect of cross-eye jamming, AGC jamming and delay-retransmit jamming on TT&C monopulse tracking are investigated. These research achievements constitute the elementary framework of TT&C monopulse system countermeasures.

Abstract:In modern sea-wars, ships use passive chaff jamming largely, which threaten the radar of anti-ship missile greatly because of the similarity of the velocity between the ship and the chaff. This paper presents a practical new pattern recognition method against chaff jamming, which is based on the difference in similarity and stability of the time-domain radar echoes between the ship and the chaff.By constructing two random variates, average similarity value and peak distance, the method uses their sample average and sample standard deviation as the recognition characteristics respectively. Experiment check and laboratory simulation show that this method has an average correctness rate over 90%, and meets the real-time demands, which at the same time demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.

Abstract:Study of anti-jamming effects on the Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS) operating in the complicated electromagnetic environment is carried out in this paper. With the help of Simulink simulation platform of MATLAB, the JTIDS model is built up using channel coding, spread spectrum and modulation technologies. It is shown that, with some interferences introduced into the system, its performance can be degraded seriously, however, the transmitted information, in some cases, can be restored at the receiver. Our simulated results could useful for the JTIDS design for anti-jamming.

Abstract:In this paper, platform echo and cross‐eye jamming signals are jointly considered to analyse the jamming performance on active‐passive composite monopulse radars (APCMR). In order to ensure the jamming performance on both active and passive radars in APCMR, a guideline for the setting of jammer parameters is proposed based on numerical simulations. Active‐passive composite monopulse radar (APCMR) enhances the anti‐jamming capability by combing the advantages of active radars and passive radars. Previous studies have discussed the effectiveness of cross‐eye jamming against APCMR in a simplified scenario for isolating platform echo. In this paper, platform echo and cross‐eye jamming signals are jointly considered to analyse the jamming performance on APCMR. A mathematical model of the cross‐eye jamming against APCMR is established in the presence of the platform echo, and the jamming performance on active radar and passive radar is evaluated and compared in terms of cross‐eye gain and its probability. In order to ensure the jamming performance on both active and passive radars, a guideline for the setting of jammer parameters is proposed based on numerical simulations. The study can provide theoretical foundation for the design and application of cross‐eye jammers.

Abstract:Current approaches for chaff jamming recognition and suppression exhibit limitations in practical effect, generalisation ability, and hybrid jamming handling. To address the above problems, the authors first transform the traditional 1D signal processing problem into a 2D semantic segmentation task and then solve it from the perspective of the dataset construction and algorithm design. Countermeasures for chaff jamming have drawn great attention in the field of radar target detection and tracking. Current approaches for chaff jamming recognition and suppression exhibit limitations in practical effect, generalisation ability, and hybrid jamming handling. To address the above problems, the authors first transform the traditional 1D signal processing problem into a 2D semantic segmentation task and then solve it from the perspective of the dataset construction and algorithm design. For the dataset construction, the authors use both measured and simulated data to synthesise a more realistic labelled dataset (semi‐realistic dataset), which is also with good diversity due to its adjustable chaff interference background. For the algorithm design, the authors propose a Pre‐Decluttering Dual‐Stage UNet (D2UNet) to recognise and suppress chaff jamming in two stages successively, where the former provides prior attention masks for the latter. To further improve the performance of D2UNet, the authors also design a multi‐stage loss function to achieve progressive training. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that D2UNet delivers remarkable recognition accuracy (99.305%) and suppression performance (41.326 dB peak signal‐to‐jamming ratio, 0.9952 structure similarity index measure) on the semi‐realistic dataset. Its practical effect is further verified on measured data.

A Barrage Noise Jamming Method Based on Double Jammers Against Three Channel SAR GMTI

Abstract:Many jamming methods have been proposed against displaced phase center antenna (DPCA) process, which is a type of three-channel synthetic aperture radar (SAR) ground moving target indication. However, two important problems faced by the jammer are why the jamming based on a single jammer is suppressed and how to generate noise in the whole DPCA image while keeping its easy realization. By analyzing a jamming geometric model based on a single jammer, the reason is that the phase of the jamming image in different antennas is only relative to the jamming geometric model, which contains the azimuth position of the jammer and jamming in the SAR image. Then, the jamming area is classified as an enhanced area and a weakened area after DPCA processing. Moreover, the jamming in the weakened area will be suppressed. To overcome this disadvantage, a barrage noise jamming method based on double jammers is proposed. By controlling the azimuth distance between the jammers, the noise can cover the whole DPCA image. Compared with the deception jamming method based on multiple coherent jammers, the phase and amplitude of the jamming signal do not need to be accurately controlled. Finally, the validity of the proposed method is verified by simulation experiments.

Abstract:Chaff cloud is a kind of passive interference widely used in sea and air. There have been many studies on scattering characteristics of chaff clouds, but few studies on radiation characteristics. This article proposes a hybrid method combining ray tracing, the generalized equivalent conductor (GEC) method, and the calculation method of reflection and transmission by a layered medium (RTLM). The method is used to calculate the passive millimeter-wave radiation of a chaff cloud. Based on the GEC method and the RTLM calculation method, the nonuniform distribution of chaff fibers is taken into account in the improved method for calculating the emissivity, reflectivity, and transmittance of the chaff cloud. Then, by combining the improved method with ray tracing, the passive millimeter-wave radiation image of the chaff cloud is obtained. Simulation results of chaff clouds under different backgrounds are presented to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the method. Additionally, the diffuse distribution of chaff clouds is investigated, and the passive millimeter-wave radiation of the diffuse chaff clouds is simulated and analyzed. The experimental results demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed method.

Abstract:Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have attracted a lot of research attention because of their high mobility and low cost in serving as temporary aerial base stations (BSs) and providing high data rates for next-generation communication networks. To protect user privacy while avoiding detection by a warden, we investigate a jammer-aided UAV covert communication system, which aims to maximize the user's covert rate with optimized transmit and jamming power. The UAV is equipped with multi-antennas to serve multi-users simultaneously and enhance the Quality of Service. By considering the general composite fading and shadowing channel models, we derive the exact probability density (PDF) and cumulative distribution functions (CDF) of the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR). The obtained PDF and CDF are used to derive the closed-form expressions for detection error probability and covert rate. Furthermore, the covert rate maximization problem is formulated as a Nash bargaining game, and the Nash bargaining solution (NBS) is introduced to investigate the negotiation among users. To solve the NBS, we propose two algorithms, i.e., particle swarm optimization-based and joint two-stage power allocation algorithms, to achieve covertness and high data rates under the warden's optimal detection threshold. All formulated problems are proven to be convex, and the complexity is analyzed. The numerical results are presented to verify the theoretical performance analysis and show the effectiveness and success of achieving the covert communication of our algorithms.
