Abstract:Reflection on and criticism of enlightenment reason is an indispensable part of the Enlightenment itself. It is an important counterbalance to the Enlightenment myth and the crisis of modernity, as well as being a major theoretical subject for political philosophy in the age of globalization. This reflection and criticism must be grasped and examined from both the external perspective of socio-historical requirements and the internal perspective of intellectual history. While giving full credit to the achievements of Enlightenment reason and modernity, we need to review their inherent conflicts, reveal the resultant social crisis, and sort out, reflect on and reference postmodernism's denunciation of Enlightenment reason and the crisis of modernity in order to provide a more far-reaching solution to these issues. Marx turned the critique of Enlightenment reason and modernity into a critical reconstruction of the logic of capital and the capitalist mode of production, seeing the resolution of these evils as lying in transcendence of capitalist private ownership. In this way, he brought the critique of Enlightenment reason to a climax and showed modern society a way to more advanced development.

Abstract:Research on Western Marxism should direct its reading and reflection to the developmental course of Western Marxism itself.It needs to clarify the problem logic of Western Marxism,i.e.its fundamental nature,theoretical characteristics and historical and logical boundaries,and grasp its problem consciousness.These basic issues,however,remain to be settled,fundamentally because Western Marxism is not a coherent intellectual trend but represents a family resemblance.Exploring the problem consciousness of Western Marxism on the basis of this knowledge is conducive to understanding its theoretical achievements and defects and opens up a broad vista for evaluation and comparison,thus revealing the significance of this study for China.

Abstract:Marx' and Engels' lifelong though unfinished efforts lie in their understanding and critique of capitalism, which resulted in such classics as Das Kapital, an exemplar for analyzing capitalism via its particular mode of production. Five phases can be distinguished in the historical development of this exemplar: 1) Before 1844: Criticizing Prussian feudalism in light of bourgeois revolution and making the burgerliche Gesellschaft the departure point for study; 2) From 1844 to the spring of 1845: Probing into political economics and revealing the capitalism, through the theory of entfremdete Arbeit, as an inhuman, disintegrated and industry-dominating society; 3) From the spring of 1845 to 1849: Inquiring scientifically the material production, viewing capitalist society from a historical perspective, and considering the class struggle as the means of realizing communism; 4) From 1850 to the end of 1860s: Restudying economics, starting with Das Kapital, making clear, through analyzing the surplus value, the overall control of social life by the capital and establishing a classic exemplar for the understanding of capitalism; 5) developing the theories of changing capitalism and that of anthropological studies in Marx' and Engels' late years.

Abstract:The criticism of capital is the essence of Marxism as well as Marx's main contribution to the human thought. Understanding the ontological implication of Marx's criticism of capital and thereby revealing the principled level of the criticism is the key to grasping of the contemporary significance of Marx's theory. It is necessary to correct the three widespread versions of misunderstanding of the criticism so that it will be possible to make a dialogue between Marx's thought and contemporary Western philosophy on the subject. It is a basic mission of today's researchers of Marx. The goal is to expound and propagate the important inspiration from Marx which will be helpful to the contemporary revolution of philosophy and explore a road towards thoroughly overcoming the crisis of the contemporary civilization.

Abstract:In the humanity theory of Marxism, the conception of "totaler Menschen"is very important. However in the past long time, the conception, which was firstly brought forward in <the manuscript of economics and philosophy in 1844>, was regarded as an immature theory of "Young Marx" and was ignored by scholars. In this paper, the authors study the meaning of "totaler Menschen", the condition, the course and the way from which the conception of"Totaler Menschen"sprang out. The authors believe that "Totaler Menschen" is an important clue throughout the whole Marx' philosophy theory. It has profound infections on the form of the theory of the well-balanced human beings, and till today, it is full of enlightenment and full of practical meanings.

Abstract:The Reestablishing individual ownership has been neatly elaborated by Karl Marx in his masterpiece The Capital.Friedrich Engels mentioned the thought in his works as well.However,great controversy has been risen on the explanation to the theory after being been proposed.According to the author,three aspects are the keys to understanding the theory accurately.Firstly,it should be judged in the context of the original theory of Marx and Engels.Secondly,the purpose of the theory should be taken into account.Thirdly,the realistic preconditions for the theory should be clarified with a long term view.

Abstract:The points in the paper of "the teaching material of political economy needn't give an account of the contradictions of general formula of capital" are open to question. Marx' classics of Das Kapital is an artistic entirety in which the statements about general formula and the contradictions of general formula of capital are important contents which explain the forming of surplus value on the basis of the law of value. The point that some important teaching materials of political economy used not to give an account of the contradictions of general formula of capital does not tally with the facts. We should have a prudent attitude towards the basic theoretical issues of Marxist political economy.

Abstract:As a landmark figure in the field of philosophy of history, Marx opened up a new realm of historical philosophy research. Hegel and Proudhon represented the research paradigm of “general philosophy of history” or “speculative philosophy of history”. Marx critiqued the paradigm of their research, revealing the metaphysical and eternalist nature of their approach to historical philosophy. On this basis, Marx critically rejected the “general philosophy of history” research paradigm of abstract investigation of social history.Marx upheld the basic method that “philosophy” is in the service of “history”. He completed the profundity analysis of social history with historical materialism and the critique of political economy. Marx initiated the analysis of history by examining social history issues in the context of economic problems. This line of thought is well documented in Das Kapital in which Marx steadily advanced his historical analysis along two parallel paths. One of them, focused on material relations of life, expounded the productivity in the decisive role in the process of historical development of society, revealing the nature of history and its evolution law. The second one, focused on modern business and industry, launched a historical understanding and substantive critique of the relationship between labor and capital, casting insight on the development prospects and historical destiny of capitalism. In Das Kapital, Marx strived to explore the roots of social history. He launched a substantive criticism of the economic operation rules and cultural moral mechanism under the domination of capital, concretizing the historical philosophical analysis method of “economic foundation-superstructure” based on the mode of production and centered on human liberation.Marx?s approach to critical philosophy of history with development as its core is in fact a historical critique based on practice. Marx completed his philosophical reflection on the mystery of human history in response to the question of the times. On the one hand, taking “world history” as its basic orientation, Marx?s historical philosophy contributed to the transformation of mankind from “history” to “world history”. On the other hand, taking “human society” as its starting point, Marx in the overall investigation of human history realized the process of discovering the “new world” while criticizing the “old world”. Das Kapital opened up a new realm of historical philosophy, as it represented the new view of world history which combined the transformation of world history with the transformation of philosophical thinking.Marx?s Das Kapital opened a new chapter to solve the “historical mystery” of mankind. Marx?s historical philosophy no longer aims to preserve reality and explain the world; it constantly explores scientific solutions to change reality in the process of facing reality. The historical philosophy of Das Kapital has led the trend of the times and the direction of human development. It has also become a theoretical resource for building a great modern socialist country and developing a new form of human civilization.

Abstract:In "On Capital" and its manuscripts,Karl Marx went to the level of the economic movement of commodity value and surplus value and concretely and historically analyzed such important problems as essential determination,concrete forms and inner composition of material production and productive forces,their decisive or primacy role on social existence and historical development,and the relation between objective decisiveness and subjective activity,thus giving microscopic support with empirical facts and positive data to the macroscopic conclusions of historical materialism.This indicated that remaining at the level of "The German Ideology" was inadequate for concretely,not abstractly,comprehending and grasping the core categories and fundamental tenets of historical materialism.Promoting the research of historical materialism based on "On Capital" and its manuscripts,the situation which Marxist theory has been divided into philosophy,political economy and scientific socialism must be broken,and conduct studies of the literature in Marxist textology and documetology must be laid stress on.

Abstract:Though the Western‘Marxologist’studies of Das Kapital were not so active before the end of the Second World War,some influential works appeared in this period.Based on the philosophical position of Neo-Kantianism,the Newest Historical School understood the system of political economy in Das Kapital as an epistemological model outside the capitalist development.The Austrian School’s viewpoint of the termination of Marxian political economy system was influential and became the main source of bourgeois scholars’understanding of Das Kapital before 1930s.The three paths bourgeois philosophers often took in interpreting Das Kapital were moral philosophy,political philosophy and the epistemological-logic,with the common conclusion of negating scientificity of the labor value theory.

In Das Kapital and its manuscripts,Marx’s critical investigation of the historical and class nature of capital concept reveals the historical logic of the inner connection between the profound crisis of production mode of capital and the world market and communism,and clarifies the relationship between the self-sublation of capitalist ownership and the historical reconstruction of social individual ownership. It looks ahead to the historical trend of the transition from the necessity realm of capitalism to the freedom realm of communism. The ultimate goal of Marx’s critique of political economy is the communist society,which is the free man association based on the principles of free personality and human emancipation.

Abstract:: Das Kapital is a sign of the maturity of Marx's view of science and technology. In Das Kapital, Marx elaborated his view of science and technology from multiple dimensions. Based on the text interpretation of Das Kapital, this paper uses the method of literature research, the combination of theory and practice, and the unification of history and logic to investigate the scientific and technological view of Das Kapital. From the perspective of social production, science and technology are productive forces. From the perspective of human development, the innovation and development of science and technology and "real man" constitute an organic whole. From the perspective of natural ecology, the innovation and development of science and technology form a two-way interaction with natural ecology. Abstract:It is necessary for us to meet following problems as we try to investigate deeply Marx's philoso- phy.The first problem is relationship between Marx and Engels.It is well known that Marx and Engels have close friendship,however,there are differences between them though Engels is also one of the found- ers of Historical Materialism.The second problem is the relationship between young Marx and mature Ma- rx.In my opinion,it is wrong to separate mature Marx from young Marx completely.Although there are essential differences between these two periods,mature Marx's thought has close relation to young Marx' s thought.The third problem is the relationship between the certainty of the essence of Marx's philosophy and various perspectives of understanding this essence.According to my point,the essence of Marx's phi- losophy is Historical Materialism,and mature Marx has not put forward any theory without link with His- torical Materialism,however,people may read Historical Materialism from different perspectives,such as ontology,hermeneutics,the history of humanistic philosophy and so on.

Abstract:The writing logic of Das Kapital is centered on “the discussion of capital”, essentially examining the societal attributes of capital. In capitalist society, the social attribute of capital lies in the systemic exploitation of labor. Therefore, while the writing logic of Das Kapital focuses on “the discussion of capital”, its deeper ideological logic lies in “the discussion of labor”, and the ideological logic ultimately aims at promoting the awakening and functionality of “laborers” in terms of subjectivity and sociality, Marx’s Das Kapital adheres to the labor theory of value and seeks to transcend the capitalist society’s labor theory of value. In practical terms, this is a concentrated expression of the political stance of Marxism speaking for “laborers”.

Abstract:This paper mainly responds to the three theoretical problems put forward by Prof.Wang Feng-cai,Prof.Xu Chang-fu and Prof.Han Shui-fa in the conference on my academic thoughts.First of all,I shall argue that my comments on Marx in published writings are theoretically consistent.Secondly,I shall emphasise the fact that in the context of Kant's practical reason,although ideas play a constructive role when they concern such object as "highest goodness",they generally play a regulative role.Finally,I shall argue that there is the complex relationship between critique and constitution.Obviously,without profound critical opinions,the rational points of view are impossible.On the contrary,it is difficult for critique to grasp the essence of actual life without rational constituent points of view.According to my opinion,those constituent points of view formed in a definite historical context cannot be used dogmatically,but need to be revised in terms of various concrete situations.

Abstract:When Marx refers to his Capital as the founding work of a new science, what he is adverting to is the fact of his science uncovering a unique ontological object in the social world with peculiar causal properties which demand a specific set of epistemological and methodological resources to capture in theory and, on that basis, to explain how that object operates and what it does in open systems of the world. Over the history of Marxism, as a body of thought claiming lineage to Marx, Marx's profound scientific insights have been systematically distorted, even parodied, in ways that blunt the revolutionary potential of Marx's most fundamental and important writing. This article reviews a major contribution by Thomas Sekine, in his two-volume Dialectic of Capital (2020), to rectify this for Marxian economics and political economy. Sekine has been the foremost exponent of the effort to reconstruct Marx's Capital , initially undertaken by Japanese Marxian economist Kozo Uno.
