Furthermore, L2 convergence and a.s. convergence are also discussed.

Abstract:Let P be a Poisson process of intensity one in a square S_n of area n. For a fixed integer k, join every point of P to its k nearest neighbours, creating an undirected random geometric graph G_{n,k}. We prove that there exists a critical constant c such that for c'<c, G_{n,c'log n} is disconnected with probability tending to 1 as n tends to infinity, and for c'>c G_{n,c'\log n} is connected with probability tending to 1 as n tends to infinity. This answers a question previously posed by the authors.

Abstract:Let P be a realization of a homogeneous Poisson point process in ℝ d with density 1. We prove that there exists a constant k d , 1< k d <∞, such that the k -nearest neighborhood graph of P has an infinite connected component with probability 1 when k ≥ k d . In particular, we prove that k 2 ≤213. Our analysis establishes and exploits a close connection between the k -nearest neighborhood graphs of a Poisson point set and classical percolation theory. We give simulation results which suggest k 2 =3. We also obtain similar results for finite random point sets.

Under some moment conditions, we obtain the precise asymptoties of a kind of weighted infinite series for partial sums S N as ɛ ↘0 by using the truncation and approximation methods. The results are related to the convergence rates of the law of the logarithm in Hilbert space, and they also extend the results of (Gut and Spǎtaru, 2003).

Abstract:Consider a stationary Poisson process $\eta$ in the $d$-dimensional Euclidean or hyperbolic space and construct a random graph with vertex set $\eta$ as follows. First, each point $x\in\eta$ is connected by an edge to its nearest neighbour, then to its second nearest neighbour and so on, until $x$ is contained in the convex hull of the points already connected to $x$. The resulting random graph is the so-called nearest neighbour embracing graph. The main result of this paper is a quantitative description of the Gaussian fluctuations of geometric functionals associated with the nearest neighbour embracing graph. More precisely, the total edge length, more general length-power functionals and the number of vertices with given outdegree are considered.
