Abstract:Zhuangzi's philosophy is called the philosophy of life. But the cruelty of the social reality of his times forced him to summarize freedom as moral ideality and spiritual real and finally determinate transcendence of his philosophy. He divided freedom into two types: relative and absolute. It was the latter that he pursued. He put forth his own propositions concerning life corners and solutions.

Abstract:Aesthetic transcendence is a problem that the Chinese literary theory and aesthetics are facing in the 21th century.The peculiar nature of aesthetic transcendence lies in the realization of inner freedom in one's life.Cultural studies are only complement and improvement to the conception and methods of traditional literary studies,therefore can not take the place of aesthetic transcendence,but rather,takes it as its ultimate pursuit.Aesthetic transcendence is an organic unity between individuality and sociality in the sense of becoming,for which modern artistic activity like surrealism has provided a convincing evidence.The aesthetic can only transcend the reasonable,but can not transcend reason manifested in the protective forces of existence,thus realizing the organic unity between sensibility and reason through consciousness that transcends its temporary relief to itself,through individual consciousness that transcends universal consciousness,and through man's changing nature that transcends the nature of general freedom.

Abstract:The philosophy of life generated by Zhuangzi reflected his thinking about the ultimate meaning and the value of life in the"Ceremony Disintegration"Warring States Periods.Zhuangzi inherited and developed the doctrine of Laozi.Zhuangzi changed Laozi's attitude to the social and political change,but stood on the spiritual principles,and was committed to explore the significance of the existence and value of individual life.Zhuangzi started from the existence of a person's individual life,and changed Laozi's concern about the development of human life into the pursuit of personal independence and freedom of the spirit,which showed a concern of the spiritual world and the features of "philosophy of life" between spirit and body.His concept of happiness still inspires us today.

Abstract:In modern times, academics have used the perspective of political liberty and spiritual freedom to interpret and explain Zhuang Zi’s “happy excursion” as well as the substance of all his other thoughts. The starting point of the former is the political idea of laissez-faire; the latter involves the unique character of Zhuang Zi’s philosophy on life. But it misses the spiritual deficiency contained in Zhuang Zi , and so it is difficult to respond to criticism from modern liberals. This article argues that it is not quite accurate to use “happy excursion” to express modern freedom, but the spiritual tradition of “happy excursion” as a kind of native resource could still serve as a way to introduce the idea of liberalism at the level of a life philosophy based on independence, individual consciousness and the personal conscience and virtues embraced by the “happy excursion” thought of Zhuang Zi.

Abstract:Cai Yuanpei's valuable idea that aesthetic education can help improve human life is still of great enlightening significance nowadays. When Schiller first put forward the concept of Aesthetic Education, he mentioned the relationship between aesthetic education and human life, though indirectly. While Confucius held that aesthetic education was one of the main approaches to human achievements, Zhu Xi closely combined aesthetic education with the human development of beautiful soul and life. And Wang Yangming emphasized aesthetic education by adopting the special way of imperceptible influence. According to Wang's thought, aesthetic education, like spring rain silently moistening everything, could nurture and influence people's personality and purify their minds, ensuring their healthy development on the road of life. Though Marx did not a specific book or essay to address aesthetic education, he regarded human freedom and all-round development as the ultimate goal of realizing human emancipation and communism, which exactly formed the basis for the theory of Marxist aesthetic education. Therefore, aesthetic education is an inevitable pathway to personal improvement, growth and achievement.

Abstract:Happiness in Zhuang Zi's philosophy and in Zen Buddhism consists of four aspects: First,Shunsheng which means the acceptance of the inborn limitations of each individual while the realization of happiness lies in the limited existence of each individual.Second,Shiyi which means the uniqueness of individual happiness while every kind of life can embody and realize happiness.However,the first two cannot cover all the contents of individual happiness.Third,Wuzhi which means the abolishment of all differences and transcends all the earthly individual happiness.Fourthly,Zhongguan which means the highest happiness that covers all the earthly happiness and beyond.

Abstract:The essence of Wang Bi's philosophy is non-being. The meaning of "non-being" makes the awakening of man possible, and furthermore, makes the awakening of literature and arts possible. Mood, as a core concept in Chinese aesthetics, has transcendence from concrete to abstract, from existence to non-existence and from finite to infinite. It also has a character of "non-being" and there must be an inner connection between them. The experience of "non-being", as part of Wang's philosophy, has inner influence on the experience of beauty.
