Exploration of the Vision Theory in Ancient China

Abstract:There were plenty of explorations of the vision theory in ancient China.Most ancient Chinese believed since the eye itself was not luminous,it could see things only when receiving external light.Some scholars,however,thought the eye itself could give light out so it could see things without the help of external light.The limitation of vision had also been discussed in ancient China.The ancient Chinese analyzed subjective and objective factors that brought about the limitation of vision.They applied the vision limitation theory to explain some important scientific problems,and in turn promoted the development of some scientific branches.They explored the mechanism of the formation of vision limitation from the view point of physics,which resulted in the emergence of the theory of light traveling in a curved path and the concept of indeterminacy of measurement.
