Convergence analysis of Hermite approximations for analytic functions

Abstract:In this paper, we present a rigorous analysis of root-exponential convergence of Hermite approximations, including projection and interpolation methods, for functions that are analytic in an infinite strip containing the real axis and satisfy certain restrictions on the asymptotic behavior at infinity within this strip. Asymptotically sharp error bounds in the weighted and maximum norms are derived. The key ingredients of our analysis are some remarkable contour integral representations for the Hermite coefficients and the remainder of Hermite spectral interpolations. Further extensions to Gauss--Hermite quadrature, Hermite spectral differentiations, generalized Hermite spectral approximations and the scaling factor of Hermite approximation are also discussed. Numerical experiments confirm our theoretical results.

Abstract:In this article, we study the asymptotics of harmonic functions. A typical method is by proving monotonicity formulas of a version of rescaled Dirichlet energy, and use it to study the renormalized solution -- the Almgren's blowup. However, such monotonicity formulas require strong smoothness assumptions on domains and operators. We are interested in the cases when monotonicity formulas are not available, including variable coefficient equations with unbounded lower order terms, Dirichlet problems on rough (non-$C^1$) domains, and Robin problems with rough Robin potentials.

Functional Analysis and Its Applications

Abstract:The asymptotic behavior of an exponential integral is studied in which the phase function has the form of a special deformation of the germ of a hyperbolic unimodal singularity of type . The integral under examination satisfies the heat equation, its Cole–Hopf transformation gives a solution of the vector Burgers equation in four-dimensional space-time, and its principal asymptotic approximations are expressed in terms of real solutions of systems of third-degree algebraic equations. The obtained analytical results make it possible to trace the bifurcations of an asymptotic structure depending on the parameter of the modulus of the singularity.

Abstract:We study nonnegative solutions to the following Hardy-H´enon type equations involving higher order fractional Laplacians in R n 0 } which have a possible singularity at the origin, where σ is a real number satisfying 0 < σ < n/ 2 , −∞ < α < 2 σ and p > 1 . By a more direct approach without using the super poly-harmonic properties of nonnegative solutions, we establish an integral representation for nonnegative solutions to the above higher order fractional equations whether the singularity { 0 } is removable or not. As the ﬁrst application, we prove Liouville theorems for nonnegative solutions to the above equations with removable singularity for all σ ∈ (0 , n/ 2) when This, in particular, covers a gap occurring for non-integral σ ∈ (1 , n/ 2) and α ∈ (0 , 2 σ ) in the current literature. As the second application, we show the radial symmetry of nonnegative solutions to the above equations in the critical case or in the case where the singularity at the origin is not removable. Such radial symmetry would be useful in studying the higher order singular Yamabe problems and characterizing isolated singularities of the higher order Hardy-H´enon equations.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the study of semigroups of composition operators and semigroups of holomorphic mappings. We establish conditions under which these semigroups can be extended in their parameter to sector given a priori. We show that the size of this sector can be controlled by the image properties of the infinitesimal generator, or, equivalently, by the geometry of the so-called associated planar domain. We also give a complete characterization of all composition operators acting on the Hardy space $H^p$ on the right half-plane.

Abstract:Let U be a homogeneous variety over rational numbers of some linear algebraic group. Fix an integral model and assume the existence of infinitely many integral points. Then one would like to give an asymptotic count with the help of some height function. In many cases, with the help of measure rigidity of unipotent flows, we reduce this problem to one on equivariant birational geometry. For instance, we show that if G and H are both connected, semisimple, simply connected and without compact factors, then U=G/H is strongly Hardy-Littlewood with respect to certain height function. We also show that when H is "large" in H and both G and H are connected, reductive and without non-trivial Q-characters, then for every equivariant height, the asymptotic of integral points is the same as the volume asymptotic up to a constant. Three concrete examples with explicit heights are also provided to illustrate our approach.

Abstract:The main purpose of this paper is to develop some methods to investigate equivalent norms and Hardy-Littlewood type Theorems on Lipschitz type spaces of analytic functions and complex-valued harmonic functions. Initially, some characterizations of equivalent norms on Lipschitz type spaces of analytic functions and complex-valued harmonic functions will be given. In particular, we give an answer to an open problem posed by Dyakonov in (Math. Z.249(2005), 597--611). Furthermore, some Hardy-Littlewood type Theorems of complex-valued harmonic functions are established. The obtained results improve and extend the main results in (Acta Math.178(1997),143--167). Additionally, we apply the equivalent norms and Hardy-Littlewood type Theorems to study composition operators between Lipschitz type spaces.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish some Stein-Weiss type inequalities with general kernels on the upper half space and study the existence of extremal functions for this inequality with the optimal constant. Furthermore, we also investigate the regularity, asymptotic estimates, symmetry and non-existence results of the positive solutions of the corresponding Euler-Lagrange integral system. As an application, we finally derive some Liouville type results for the Hartree type equations in the half space.

Abstract:Abstract We verify a long-standing conjecture on the membership of univalent harmonic mappings in the Hardy space, whenever the functions have a “nice” analytic part. We also produce a coefficient estimate for these functions, which is in a sense best possible. The problem is then explored in a new direction, without the additional hypothesis. Interestingly, our ideas extend to certain classes of locally univalent harmonic mappings. Finally, we prove a Baernstein-type extremal result for the function $\log (h'+cg')$ , when $f=h+\overline {g}$ is a close-to-convex harmonic function, and c is a constant. This leads to a sharp coefficient inequality for these functions.

Abstract:In this paper, the asymptotic boundary behavior of a Hopf differential or the Beltrami coefficient of a harmonic map is investigated and certain compact properties of harmonic maps are established. It is shown that, if f is a quasiconformal harmonic diffeomorphism between two Riemann surfaces and is homotopic to an asymptotically conformal map modulo boundary, then f is asymptotically conformal itself. In addition, we prove that the harmonic embedding map from the Bers space B Q D ( X ) of an arbitrary hyperbolic Riemann surface X to the Teichmüller space T ( X ) induces an embedding map from the asymptotic Bers space A B Q D ( X ), a quotient space of B Q D ( X ), into the asymptotic Teichmüller space AT ( X ).

Abstract:In this article, our objective is to define and study a new subclass of analytic functions associated with the q-analogue of the sine function, operating in conjunction with a convolution operator. By manipulating the parameter q, we observe that the image of the unit disc under the q-sine function exhibits a visually appealing resemblance to a figure-eight shape that is symmetric about the real axis. Additionally, we investigate some important geometrical problems like necessary and sufficient conditions, coefficient bounds, Fekete-Szegö inequality, and partial sum results for the functions belonging to this newly defined subclass.
