Abstract:In this paper, we study a class of contracting flows of closed, convex hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space $${\mathbb {R}}^{n+1}$$ with speed $$r^{\alpha } \sigma _k$$, where $$\sigma _k$$ is the k-th elementary symmetric polynomial of the principal curvatures, $$\alpha \in {\mathbb {R}}^1$$, and r is the distance from the hypersurface to the origin. If $$\alpha \ge k+1$$, we prove that the flow exists for all time, preserves the convexity and converges smoothly after normalisation to a sphere centred at the origin. If $$\alpha <k+1$$, a counterexample is given for the above convergence. In the case $$k=1$$ and $$\alpha \ge 2$$, we also prove that the flow converges to a round point if the initial hypersurface is weakly mean-convex and star-shaped.

Abstract:In this paper we study a contracting flow of closed, convex hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space ℝ^n+1 with speed f r^α K, where K is the Gauss curvature, r is the distance from the hypersurface to the origin, and f is a positive and smooth function. If α≥ n+1, we prove that the flow exists for all time and converges smoothly after normalisation to a soliton, which is a sphere centred at the origin if f ≡ 1. Our argument provides a parabolic proof in the smooth category for the classical Aleksandrov problem, and resolves the dual q-Minkowski problem introduced by Huang, Lutwak, Yang and Zhang (Acta Math. 216 (2016): 325-388), for the case q<0. If α < n+1, corresponding to the case q>0, we also establish the same results for even function f and origin-symmetric initial condition, but for non-symmetric f, counterexample is given for the above smooth convergence.

Abstract:This paper mainly considers the translating soliton of H k -flow for k > 0. We give the asymptotic expression of the entire rotationally symmetric translating soliton, and obtain non-convex “Wing-like” solution as well as two barrier solutions. Moreover, we show that the solution with polynomial growth keeps its growth rate when evolution.

Abstract:In this paper we study the theory of self translating solitons of the mean curvature flow of immersed surfaces in the product space $\mathbb{H}^2\times\mathbb{R}$. We relate this theory to the one of manifolds with density, and exploit this relation by regarding these translating solitons as minimal surfaces in a conformal metric space. Explicit examples of these surfaces are constructed, and we study the asymptotic behaviour of the existing rotationally symmetric examples. Finally, we prove some uniqueness and non-existence theorems.

Translating Solitons to a Lagrangian mean curvature flow with zero Maslov class

Abstract:It is known that there is no a Type I singularity for the Lagrangian mean curvature flow with zero Maslov class. In this paper, we study translating solitons which are important models of Type II singularities. A necessary condition for a blow-up limit arising at a Type II singularity of a Lagrangian mean curvature flow with zero Maslov class is provided. As an application, we prove that the Lagrangian translating solitons constructed by Joyce-Lee-Tsui \cite{JLT} cannot be a blow-up limit for a Lagrangian mean curvature flow with zero Maslov class, answering an open question proposed by Joyce-Lee-Tsui and Neves-Tian \cite{NT}, as well as we also prove that the Grim Reaper cannot be a blow-up limit for a Lagrangian mean curvature flow with zero Maslov class.

Abstract:First, we review the authors’ recent results on translating solutions to mean curvature flows in Euclidean space as well as in Minkowski space, emphasizing on the asymptotic expansion of rotationally symmetric solutions. Then we study the sufficient condition for which the translating solution is rotationally symmetric. We will use a moving plane method to show that this condition is optimal for the symmetry of solutions to fully nonlinear elliptic equations without ground state condition.

Abstract:We prove that any complete immersed two-sided mean convex translating soliton $\Sigma \subset \mathbb{R}^3$ for the mean curvature flow is convex. As a corollary it follows that an entire mean convex graphical translating soliton in $\mathbb{R}^3$ is the axisymmetric "bowl soliton". We also show that if the mean curvature of $\Sigma$ tends to zero at infinity, then $\Sigma$ can be represented as an entire graph and so is the "bowl soliton". Finally we classify all locally strictly convex graphical translating solitons defined over strip regions.

Abstract:Under the hypothesis of mean curvature flows of hypersurfaces, we prove that the limit of the smooth rescaling of the singularity is weakly convex. It is a generalization of the result due to G. Huisken and C. Sinestrari in [5]. These a-priori bounds are satisfied for mean convex hypersurfaces in locally symmetric Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative sectional curvature.

Abstract:We prove some non-existence theorems for translating solutions to Lagrangian mean curvature flow. More precisely, we show that translating solutions with an L-2 bound on the mean curvature are planes and that almost-calibrated translating solutions which are static are also planes. Recent work of D. Joyce, Y.-I. Lee, and M.-P. Tsui shows that these conditions are optimal.

We show that if Σ = { ( x , u ( x ) ) | x ∈ R n } \Sigma =\{(x, u(x)) | x\in \mathbb {R}^n\} is a strictly spacelike hypersurface, then Σ \Sigma reduces to a strictly convex rank k k soliton in R k , 1 \mathbb {R}^{k,1} (after splitting off trivial factors) whose “blowdown” converges to a multiple λ ∈ ( 0 , 1 ) \lambda \in (0,1) of a positively homogeneous degree one convex function in R k \mathbb {R}^k . We also show that there is nonuniqueness as the rotationally symmetric solution may be perturbed to a solution by an arbitrary smooth order one perturbation.

We study the basic properties, such as positivity preserving property, of the translating mean curvature flow. Abstract:We classify the surfaces translating under the flows by sub-affine-critical powers of the Gauss curvature. This, in particular, lists all translating solitons possibly model Type II singularities for convex closed solutions in all positive powers. The surfaces are entire graphs, and therefore our result corresponds to the Liouville theorem for the degenerate Monge--Ampère equations $\det D^2 u=(1+|Du|^2)^{2-\frac{1}{2\alpha}}$ on $\mathbb{R}^2$ in the range $0<\alpha <1/4$. The result also reveals that the moduli spaces of solutions are homeomorphic to either Euclidean spaces or cylinders.

Abstract:A soliton of the mean curvature flow in the product space $\mathbb{s}^2\times\mathbb{R}$ as a surface whose mean curvature $H$ satisfies the equation $H=\langle N,X\rangle$, where $N$ is the unit normal of the surface and $X$ is a Killing vector field. In this paper we consider the vector field tangent to the fibers and the vector field associated to a rotations about an axis of $\mathbb{s}^2$, respectively. We give a classification of the solitons with respect to these vector fields assuming that the surface is invariant under a one-parameter group of vertical translations or under a group of rotations of $\mathbb{s}^2$.
