Abstract:Herein, we divulge an efficient protocol for aerobic oxidation of alcohols with an inorganic-ligand supported iodine catalyst, (NH4)5[IMo6O24]. The catalyst system is compatible with a wide range of groups and exhibits high selectivity, and shows excellent stability and reusability, thus serving as a potentially greener alternative to the classical transformations.

Abstract:A mild, efficient, and eco-friendly procedure for the oxidation of organic halides to aldehydes and ketones in good to high yields catalyzed by H5IO6/V2O5 in ionic liquid [bmpy][PF6] with no trace of overoxidation to carboxylic acids has been developed. The product can be isolated by a simple extraction with organic solvent, and the catalytic system can be recycled or reused without any significant loss of catalytic activity.

Abstract:An ion-exchangeable layered polysiloxane was first used as support for immobilizing a sulphonato-(salen)chromium(III) complex, and the resulted catalyst exhibited moderate to great reactivities in the CH oxidation of different alcohols into carbonyl compounds when aqueous hydrogen peroxide were employed as oxidant. And then three room temperature ionic liquids were loaded respectively for the purpose of recycling, and indeed the ionic liquid phases containing catalyst could be recycled effectively. At last, a novel layered structure of the supported catalyst was afforded and briefly discussed after X-ray powder diffraction analysis.

Abstract:One of the most useful transformations in the synthetic chemist arsenal is the oxidation of alcohols to their corresponding carbonyl congeners. Despite its seemingly straightforward nature, this transformative reaction predominantly relies on the use of metals or hazardous reagents, making these processes highly unsustainable. To address this challenge, we have developed a sustainable metal‐free method for the oxidation of alcohols in continuous flow. Using a solid phase hypervalent iodine catalyst and nBu4HSO5 as a phase transfer catalyst and co‐oxidant, primary and secondary alcohols were selectively oxidized to the corresponding carbonyl motifs. This operationally simple continuous‐flow set‐up is highly robust (15 cycles run without significant catalyst leaching or loss of reaction efficiency), uses green solvents, such as acetonitrile or acetic acid, and is readily scalable.

Abstract:Iron-chloride immobilized ionic liquid (SIL-FeCl3) was prepared by N-methylimidazole reacting with chloropropylsilane linked on the mesoporous silica SBA-15 and coordinating of FeCl3 to the imidazolium chloride grafted on the surface, as proved by XRD, TEM, NMR, FT-IR, ICP–MS, UV–vis and N2 adsorption–desorption technique. The results showed that the supported FeCl3 species were mainly distributed on the surface with the nonuniform distribution and the coordination linkage of imidazole ring to FeCl3 was stronger enough to keep its not leaching from the surface. The SIL-FeCl3 was demonstrated to be an efficient catalyst for a solvent-free oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde (BzH) using H2O2 as oxidant, exhibiting high TON (125.8mol/molFe). The novelty of the manuscript is based on the distribution of iron species on the surface detected by TEM and EDX and the higher catalytic activity of the catalyst for effective oxidation of alcohol under solvent-free condition The catalyst can be easily recovered and effectively reused without a significant loss in its activity and selectivity, which would lead to its potential application foreground for environmental friendly synthesis of chlorine-free BzH.

Abstract:The novel ionic liquid with multi-SO3H groups has been synthesized through the simple procedure and its catalytic activity for the oxathioacetalization was investigated carefully at room temperature under solvent-free condition. The results showed that the novel ionic liquid was very efficient for the reactions with the average yields over 90%. Mild reaction conditions, high yields, small amount of usage, operational simplicity, needless of any solvent, wide applicability, reusability and chemoselectivity are the key features of this methodology.

Abstract:An iridium-catalyzed, highly efficient, and site-selective deoxygenation of primary, secondary, and tertiary alcohols has been realized, under the assistance of a 4-(N-substituted amino)aryl directing group. Only the hydroxyl adjacent to the directing group can be deoxygenated. The deoxygenation is performed in water, with formic acid as both the promoter and hydride donor. Excellent yields and functionality tolerance, as well as high efficiency (S/C up to 1 000 000, TOF up to 445 000 h–1), are obtained. The kinetic isotope effect studies show that hydride formation is the rate-determining step, and the deoxygenation follows an SN1-type pathway. The deoxygenation protocol has been demonstrated useful in the structural modification of naturally occurring ketones and steroids.

Abstract:We report a facile, efficient procedure for selective oxidation of activated alcohols by use of a novel supported ionic-liquid catalyst produced by coating polystyrene–TEMPO resin with the ionic liquid [bmim]PF 6 and CuCl 2 . The oxidation affords aldehydes or ketones in excellent yield and with high selectivity. Abstract:Ionic liquid (IL) 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride was found to effectively intensify cyclohexanol oxidation and resulted in 100% conversion of cyclohexanol with 100% selectivity to cyclohexanone using hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant and WO3 as a catalyst.
