New Explanation on the Bones Scripts "xiao Chen Qiang"

Abstract:The script piece Xiao Chen Qiang is well-known for its recording the captures and awards of a battle.In view of some mistakes on the previous explanation of this script,this paper puts forward new interpretations of some words in the script,especially highlights the textual research of white kylin(bai lin). It points out that xiao chen qiang is the earliest and the only record of auspicious signs about lin.Furthermore,it maintains that bai lin in the script tends to prove the people in the Yin Dynasty had matched the five directions with the five colors.
