Abstract:It is urgent for modern society to save energy and protect environment. But the efficiency of traditional lighting equipment which occupies a rather high proportion of total electric load is very low. Now, they are more and more instead by power electronics based devices, such as energy-saving lamps or LED lamps. For the different characteristics from that of traditional devices, the new kind of lighting equipment may have uncertain influence to power grid. Firstly, their topologies and control schemes are studied and analyzed. Then, the general models, which are suitable for simulation analysis, are proposed. After that, the simulation study and physical experiment are carried on respectively. It is revealed and manifested that the characteristics of both energy-saving lamp and LED lamp are quite different from that of traditional lamps, and may have adverse impact on the safety and stability of power grid.

Abstract:The number of electronic devices connected to the power grid through power electronic interfaces, such as inverters or switch power supplies, has increased in recent years. The harmonics generated by power electronic interfaces cannot be avoided. However, existing load models are mainly used for transient electromechanical simulation and only describe the fundamental positive-sequence characteristics of loads without considering harmonics. For in-depth research on distribution networks or microgrids, the harmonic characteristics of loads need to be considered. This paper suggests a simplified power electronic interfaced load model that considers harmonics. The model consists of two parts, one of which characterizes the dynamics of the fundamental current considering the change in fundamental voltage, whereupon the load parameters are determined by analyzing the load's dynamic response to voltage variations. The other part generates output currents containing harmonics based on the effective value and initial phase relationships between the harmonics and fundamental wave obtained from the analysis of steady-state data. An experiment on an inverter air conditioner validates the applicability of the proposed model.

Abstract:Based on harmonic detecting and analysis of power distribution system of petrochemical enterprise,it shows that the main sources in the power distribution system of petrochemical enterprise are frequency converter,UPS and HID.Multiple technique,LC filter and active filter strategy were proposed to reduce harmonic component.Based on analysis of the relation between capacitor and harmonic component,the improved strategy of selecting resonant frequency of LC filter in the power distribution system of petrochemical enterprise was proposed.

Abstract:Harmonic in power systems would not only reduce the work efficiency of a distribution network and electrical equipments so as to cause faults, shorten service life of the network, but also increase the system loss, reduce the power factor and efficiency of electric consumption utilization, and cause greater economic loss. In this paper, through the analysis of generation mechanism of harmonic in power systems, and the effect of harmonic on a variety of electrical components, found that harmonic suppression has a certain energy-saving efficiency theoretically, finally, verified through an example when cost used for harmonic suppression is lower than electric fee saved, eliminating harmonics would improve the power quality, and at the same time obtain certain economic benefits.

Abstract:Power electronic technology has been widely employed in renewable energy systems, like photovoltaic(PV) generation systems, wind generation systems; in home appliances, like compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), LED lamps, microwaves. However, power electronic based devices are harmonic polluters, which could inject a relatively large amount of harmonics into the power grid relative to their power demand. This article presents a study of the harmonic current characteristics of two kinds of LED lamps and a photovoltaic panel. Equivalent CFL index is used to compare the harmonic effects of different harmonic sources and to quantify their relative severity.

Abstract:A new networked distributed LED power supply scheme is presented in this paper. It is composed of a high power voltage source and multiple digital galvanostats mounted inside the lamps. They share information by half-duplex communication, and realize the group measure and group control of the multiple PC-based power supplies and lamps. This power supply method can not only solve the technical bottleneck problems in reliability, efficiency, and maintenance of the traditional LED lamps, but also work out the information sharing and network management issues. Therefore, it is particularly suitable for illumination applications of factory workshops, underground parking garages, highway tunnels, subway stations and street lamps.

Abstract:Harmonics produced by residential loads have become an increasing concern in recent years due to the extensive adoption of power-electronic-based home appliances. This paper presents analysis on extensive field data collected from various locations of residential distribution systems in North America. The degree of cancellation of harmonic currents from different sources is determined. A comparative study on the harmonic characteristics of residential, commercial, and industrial feeders is also conducted. The results show that the harmonic current distortion levels of residential feeders are much higher than those of the industrial and commercial feeders. The third harmonic is the most pronounced component and the low-order harmonic currents from different homes tend to add to each other, i.e., the harmonic cancellation effect is much less than those claimed in the literature.

Abstract:Measurement errors of induction meter and electronic meter under harmonic conditions have been analysed and discussed.It has been pointed out that the current induction meter could not distinguish linear and non-linear loads.The measured electric energy under non-linear load is lower than fundamental energy.The electronic meter could distinguish linear and non-linear loads but has problems such as measuring error and unreasonable measuring methods.An reasonable improved measuring method has been proposed.

Abstract:Portable power quality analyzer FLUKE435 is used to carry out the harmonics survey for the transformers of distribution network and mass measured data of typical loads are obtained. Quantitative calculation of harmonic harm to distribution transformer is carried out for additional loss (up to 0.06%), capacity loss (15%), life shortening (up to 50%) and maintenance cost increase (up to 100%), which are shown as power consumption.

Abstract:Along with the wide application of nonlinear power electronic devices in power grids,harmonic pollution in power systems becomes more and more severe.Most instrument transformers and watthour meters installed in power systems are designed to measure power frequency signals with sinusoidal waveform,the measurement accuracy of these measuring devices will be affected by distorted waveform to a certain extent.Based on the frequency response characteristics of active power measuring devices,the affects of harmonics on measurement error of different kinds of measuring devices are analyzed,and the defects of existing active power measurement mode are pointed out and related suggestions are given.

Abstract:Harmonic emission of industrial power supply system into public grid is a serious issue, which affects the power quality at point of common coupling (PCC). The establishment of background harmonic model and the deter-mination of harmonic contribution are beneficial to assess the influence degree of harmonic emission of power consumer on the public grid. The research work first introduces the background of tested 110 kV/23 MVA power supply system and the harmonic distribution sampled at PCC. Furthermore, multiple probability distribution functions are adopted to fit the background harmonic with time segment. The optimal fitting function is then selected by goodness-of-fit. The simulation model of harmonic voltage that obeys the probability distribution fitting function is generated by random sampling. Finally, the harmonic contribution is determined based on the superposition rule and the simulation model. The results of case study show that load harmonics and background harmonics are in opposite directions and, because of that, the power consumer is beneficial to reduce the har-monic voltage at the PCC. The proposed method can be generalized as an alternative way for harmonic contribution determination in engineering practice.

Abstract:There are various kinds of damage caused by large amount of harmonic in power grid. The research object of this paper is the harmonic in power grid. A simple and practical harmonic detection program is studied. And the harmonic analysis module is completed. First the principle of harmonic generation is analyzed. And then, the signals of the voltage and current in power grid are collecting. At last, the hardware and software of the module are designed. The signals are analyzed and calculated by the module. The harmonic content is put out. The test proved that the module has the advantages of high precision, good reliability and low cost. It can be used on a variety of equipment.
