Geometry of Complex Bounded Domains with Finite-Volume Quotients

Abstract:We first show that for a bounded pseudoconvex domain with a manifold quotient of finite-volume in the sense of Kahler-Einstein measure, the identity component of the automorphism group of this domain is semi-simple without compact factors. This partially answers an open question in [Fra95]. Then we apply this result in different settings to solve several open problems, for examples, (1). We prove that the automorphism group of the Griffiths domain [Gri71] in ℂ^2 is discrete. This gives a complete answer to an open question raised four decades ago. (2). We show that for a contractible HHR/USq complex manifold D with a finite-volume manifold quotient M, if D contains a one-parameter group of holomorphic automorphisms and the fundamental group of M is irreducible, then D is biholomorphic to a bounded symmetric domain. This theorem can be viewed as a finite-volume version of Nadel-Frankel's solution for the Kahzdan conjecture, which has been open for years. (3). We show that for a bounded convex domain D⊂ℂ^n of C^2-smooth boundary, if D has a finite-volume manifold quotient with an irreducible fundamental group, then D is biholomorphic to the unit ball in ℂ^n, which partially solves an old conjecture of Yau. For (2) and (3) above, if the complex dimension is equal to 2, more refined results will be provided.

Abstract:The average weight distribution of a regular low-density parity-check (LDPC) code ensemble over a finite field is thoroughly analyzed. In particular, a precise asymptotic approximation of the average weight distribution is derived for the small-weight case, and a series of fundamental qualitative properties of the asymptotic growth rate of the average weight distribution are proved. Based on this analysis, a general result, including all previous results as special cases, is established for the minimum distance of individual codes in a regular LDPC code ensemble.

Abstract:The determination of weight distribution of cyclic codes involves the evaluation of Gauss sums and exponential sums. Despite some cases where a neat expression is available, the computation is generally rather complicated. In this note, we determine the weight distribution of a class of reducible cyclic codes whose dual codes may have arbitrarily many zeros. This goal is achieved by building an unexpected connection between the corresponding exponential sums and the spectra of Hermitian forms graphs.

Abstract:Solid codes can be used in information transmission over a noisy channel because they have remarkable synchronization and error-detecting capabilities in the presence of noise. In this paper, we focus on combinatoric properties of solid codes. We begin by characterizing solid codes by means of infix codes and unbordered words. Then, we discuss the decomposition of solid codes (in particular, the maximal solid codes). And finally, we investigate several properties of the products of the solid codes and some other kinds of codes. Our results given in this paper significantly enrich the theory of solid codes.

Abstract:A language is called a relatively regular language if its syntactic monoid has finite ideals. In this paper, we show that there are close relationships between the relatively regular languages and some other classes of languages such as (generalized) disjunctive languages, fd-domains and 2-codes. In particular, we prove that every relatively regular 2-code is thin. Thus, the well known result of Bestel and Perrin in 1985 becomes an easy corollary of our result.

Abstract:Every language is either the disjoint union or the intersection of two disjunctive languages.The family of f-disjunctive languages is a natural generalization of the family of disjunctive languages.Disjunctive domains (f-disjunctive domains) are defined as the languages which can be checked whether a given language is disjunctive (f-disjunctive) or not.The f-disjunctive domains were first studied by Guo et al.around 1986-1989.We continue their study on f-disjunctive domains.Some new results for f-disjunctive domains,containing a relation between disjunctive domains and f-disjunctive domains,are introduced.In this respect,we also make an appropriate opening for the completely dense languages and solid codes.

Abstract:A language S on a free monoid $$A^*$$ is called a solid code if S is an infix code and overlap-free. A congruence $$\rho $$ on $$A^*$$ is called principal if there exists $$L\subseteq A^*$$ such that $$\rho =P_L$$, where $$P_L$$ is the syntactic congruence determined by L . For any solid code S over A , Reis defined a congruence $$\sigma _S$$ on $$A^*$$ by means of S and showed it is principal (Semigroup Forum 41:291–306, 1990 ). A new simple proof of the fact that $$\sigma _S$$ is principal is given in this paper. Moreover, two congruences $$\rho _S$$ and $$\lambda _S$$ on $$A^*$$ defined by solid code S are introduced and proved to be principal. For every class of the classification of $${{\mathbf {D}}}_{\mathbf{r}}$$ and $${{\mathbf {R}}}_{\mathbf{r}}$$, languages are given by means of three principal congruences $$\sigma _S$$, $$\rho _S$$ and $$\lambda _S$$.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the differential properties of $x^d$ over $\mathbb{F}_{p^n}$ with $d=p^{2l}-p^{l}+1$. By studying the differential equation of $x^d$ and the number of rational points on some curves over finite fields, we completely determine differential spectrum of $x^{d}$. Then we investigate the $c$-differential uniformity of $x^{d}$. We also calculate the value distribution of a class of exponential sum related to $x^d$. In addition, we obtain a class of six-weight consta-cyclic codes, whose weight distribution is explicitly determined. Part of our results is a complement of the works shown in [\ref{H1}, \ref{H2}] which mainly focus on cross correlations.

Abstract:Quasi-2-dimensional cyclic (Q2DC) codes over finite fields are important linear codes. They are asymptotically good, and have deep connection with convolutional codes. In this paper, using the trace representation and Gauss sums, we determine the Hamming weight distribution of Q2DC codes. As an application, we construct some classes of constant weight Q2DC codes achieving the Griesmer bound and some classes of two-weight, three-weight Q2DC codes. Moreover, by two-weight Q2DC codes, we obtain secret sharing schemes and association schemes under some special cases.
New Solutions to Delsarte's Dual Linear Programs

Abstract:Understanding the maximum size of a code with a given minimum distance is a major question in computer science and discrete mathematics. The most fruitful approach for finding asymptotic bounds on such codes is by using Delsarte's theory of association schemes. With this approach, Delsarte constructs a linear program such that its maximum value is an upper bound on the maximum size of a code with a given minimum distance. Bounding this value can be done by finding solutions to the corresponding dual linear program. Delsarte's theory is very general and goes way beyond binary codes. In this work, we provide universal bounds in the framework of association schemes that generalize the Elias-Bassalygo bound, which can be applied to any association scheme constructed from a distance function. These bounds are obtained by constructing new solutions to Delsarte's dual linear program. We instantiate these results and we recover known bounds for $q$-ary codes and for constant-weight binary codes. Our other contribution is to recover, for essentially any $Q$-polynomial scheme, MRRW-type solutions to Delsarte's dual linear program which are inspired by the Laplacian approach of Friedman and Tillich instead of using the Christoffel-Darboux formulas. We show in particular how the second linear programming bound can be interpreted in this framework.

This proves the uniform version of Yau–Tian–Donaldson conjecture for all (singular) Fano varieties with discrete automorphism groups. We achieve this by modifying Berman–Boucksom–Jonsson’s strategy in the smooth case with appropriate perturbative arguments. This perturbation approach depends on the valuative criterion and non-Archimedean estimates, and is motivated by our previous paper.

Abstract:This paper works on the structure of infinitely connected Fatou damains of rational maps in terms of Koebe uniformization. Due to the complicated boundary behavior, the existing uniformization results are failed to apply in general. We proved that if the rational map is geometrically finite, then its infinitely connected attracting Fatou damain is conformally homeomorphic to a circle domain.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the complementary dual codes in more general setting (which are called Galois LCD codes) by a uniform method. A necessary and sufficient condition for linear codes to be Galois LCD codes is determined, and constacyclic codes to be Galois LCD codes are characterized. Some illustrative examples which constacyclic codes are Galois LCD MDS codes are provided as well. In particular, we study Hermitian LCD constacyclic codes. Finally, we present a construction of a class of Hermitian LCD codes which are also MDS codes.

Abstract:We give new characterizations for the class of uniformly dense matroids and study applications of these characterizations to graphic and real representable matroids. We show that a matroid is uniformly dense if and only if its base polytope contains a point with constant coordinates. As a main application, we derive new spectral, structural and classification results for uniformly dense graphs. In particular, we show that connected regular uniformly dense graphs are $1$-tough and thus contain a (near-)perfect matching. As a second application, we show that uniform density can be recognized in polynomial time for real representable matroids, which includes graphs. Finally, we show that strictly uniformly dense real represented matroids can be represented by projection matrices with a constant diagonal and that they are parametrized by a subvariety of the Grassmannian.

Abstract:In this paper, we completely determine the number of solutions to $ \operatorname{Tr}^{q^2}_q(bx+b)+c=0, x\in \mu_{q+1}\backslash \{-1\}$ for all $b\in \mathbb{F}_{q^2}, c\in\mathbb{F}_{q}$. As an application, we can give the weight distributions of a class of linear codes, and give a completely answer to a recent conjecture about a class of NMDS codes proposed by Heng.

Abstract:Several different types of identification problems have been already studied in the literature, where the objective is to distinguish any two vertices of a graph by their unique neighborhoods in a suitably chosen dominating or total-dominating set of the graph, often referred to as a \emph{code}. To study such problems under a unifying point of view, reformulations of the already studied problems in terms of covering problems in suitably constructed hypergraphs have been provided. Analyzing these hypergraph representations, we introduce a new separation property, called \emph{full-separation}, which has not yet been considered in the literature so far. We study it in combination with both domination and total-domination, and call the resulting codes \emph{full-separating-dominating codes} (or \emph{FD-codes} for short) and \emph{full-separating-total-dominating codes} (or \emph{FTD-codes} for short), respectively. We address the conditions for the existence of FD- and FTD-codes, bounds for their size and their relation to codes of the other types. We show that the problems of determining an FD- or an FTD-code of minimum cardinality in a graph is NP-hard. We also show that the cardinalities of minimum FD- and FTD-codes differ by at most one, but that it is NP-complete to decide if they are equal for a given graph in general. We find the exact values of minimum cardinalities of the FD- and FTD-codes on some familiar graph classes like paths, cycles, half-graphs and spiders. This helps us compare the two codes with other codes on these graph families thereby exhibiting extremal cases for several lower bounds.
