Abstract:[Summary] During the past 100 years, especially since New China was born, China has made important substantial contributions to the progress and development of medicine in the world. Dedication, hardship, innovation, and exploration were the key elements behind these significant achievements. Medical universities should energetically train and give incentives to the talented young people and encourage their innovation, while medical students and young doctors should establish and forge ahead with determination, persist in exploring new frontiers, and make even more remarkable achievements in the future.

Abstract:Abstract As the former Minister of China's Ministry of Science & Technology (MoST), Guan-hua Xu has witnessed, and personally contributed to, China's science and technology (S&T) development during the critical period of the country's transition into a great economic power. During his tenure at MoST and its predecessor (1995–2007), he promoted the reform of research institutions, initiated some of the Nation's most significant research and development (R&D) projects, and coordinated the formulation of China's National Outline for the Medium to Long Term Science and Technology Development Plan (2006–2020). As a distinguished scientist specializing in remote sensing, Xu has devoted much of his career over the past two decades to S&T policy and management. Since leaving the ministry, he has further explored fundamental issues surrounding China's S&T development, and recently collected his thoughts in a book entitled ‘Towards a Country of Innovation’ (Beijing: Science Press, 2014). In this recent interview with NSR, Xu summarized his view of the problems China faces in becoming an innovative country, and offered his recommendations for drastic reform of China's S&T system.

Abstract:The application of digital technology is an important driving force for the innovation of the system and mechanism of government operation. From the perspective of the relationship between technology and organization, recent research focuses either on the radical impact of digital technology on bureaucratic organizations or the limitations of bureaucracy on the application of digital technology. The Three Lists digital reform conducted by Zhejiang Province shows that there exists a relationship of mutual construction between digital technology application and the form of bureaucratic organization. Through the embedding of need, process and norm, and power, the application of digital technology not only empowers government, but also causes certain adjustment problems in the internal operation of local government. In response, government seeks the innovation of the tridimensional government platform and adaptive collaboration matrix. In addition, the organizational form of local governments also has a counter-effect on digital technology, which is reflected in the transformation of the dynamic and environment of in-depth technology application. The finding provides a new theoretical explanation for understanding the relationship between technology and organization in the digital era.

Abstract:In order to promote innovation of academic views in humanities and social sciences in China and to enhance the quality of research fruits, this paper first clarifies the concept of innovation of academic views and clearly explains relevant approaches to academic innovation, then it overviews the status quo of academic views and research qualtiy of humanities and social sciences in our country, points out current problems, analyses their causes and proposes such strategies as the immediate establishment and perfection of an assessment and evaluation system, further emancipation of scholars' minds, the establishment of a system for checking new research results, improvement of the index system, emphasis on academioc standards and basic training, reform of methods for assessment of academic results, organization of academic salons, provision of academic criticism columns, and creation of an atmosphere that inspires new ideas. The author makes good use of such main research methods as that of analysis of citations or quotations and that of combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Abstract:Objective:To study the operation pattern and valuable experiences of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, to improve the performance of technology innovation and transfer in the health field in China.Methods:Analyzing the data of basic structure, operation model and historical achievements of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft by literature review. As well as conducting summary analysis along with the status quo of innovation and transformation in the health field.Results:Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft sets up a bridge between basic research and technological innovation. By undertaking contract research mainly from industrial enterprises and offering technological research and solutions, Fraunhofer integrates resources of basic research, applied research and production innovation, breaking the barriers among actors of innovation and forming a mature and effective model of innovation and transfer.Conclusions:Technological innovation in the health field should appropriately transition to applied research, be demand-oriented and application-oriented. Only by combining the needs of clinical service and industrial technology and building an ecological aggregate can we improve the efficiency of innovation and transfer in the health field.

Abstract:Professor Ying-ao YU came from a family with medical background and studied under the guidance of Bo-wei QIN. He graduated from Shanghai Second Medical College. He also was a graduate of the first session of the Integrated Medicine in China. After that, he was assigned to the editorial office of the Academy of Chinese Medicine, engaging in the study of clinical literature of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM). With National Medical Master Zhi-zheng LU, he went to Baotou Steel Staff Hospital in Inner Mongolia to implement TCM training. He has devoted himself to research of TCM clinical literature and his clinical practice for more than 60 years. Based on this work, he developed his own clinical diagnosis and treatment model entitled Differentiation of Diseases, Differentiation of Symptoms and Signs-General Therapy-Treatment through Prescription-Treatment through Clinical Symptoms and Signs. This model makes an outstanding contribution to clinical TCM and clinical literature research. The author interviewed Professor YU systematically in terms of his experiences in TCM clinically and his cultural heritage in TCM clinical philology to share with readers.
