Abstract:The illicit utilization of performance-enhancing substances, commonly referred to as doping, not only infringes upon the principles of fair competition within athletic pursuits but also poses significant health hazards to athletes. Doping control analysis has emerged as a conventional approach to ensuring equity and integrity in sports. Over the past few decades, extensive advancements have been made in doping control analysis methods, catering to the escalating need for qualitative and quantitative analysis of numerous banned substances exhibiting diverse chemical and biological characteristics. Progress in science, technology, and instrumentation has facilitated the proliferation of varied techniques for detecting doping. In this comprehensive review, we present a succinct overview of recent research developments within the last ten years pertaining to these doping detection methodologies. We undertake a comparative analysis, evaluating the merits and limitations of each technique, and offer insights into the prospective future advancements in doping detection methods. It is noteworthy that the continual design and synthesis of novel synthetic doping agents have compelled researchers to constantly refine and innovate doping detection methods in order to address the ever-expanding range of covertly employed doping agents. Overall, we remain in a passive position for doping detection and are always on the road to doping control.

Annual banned-substance review: analytical approaches in human sports drug testing.

Abstract:Monitoring the misuse of drugs and the abuse of substances and methods potentially or evidently improving athletic performance by analytical chemistry strategies is one of the main pillars of modern anti-doping efforts. Owing to the continuously growing knowledge in medicine, pharmacology, and (bio)chemistry, new chemical entities are frequently established and developed, various of which present a temptation for sportsmen and women due to assumed/attributed beneficial effects of such substances and preparations on, for example, endurance, strength, and regeneration. By means of new technologies, expanded existing test protocols, new insights into metabolism, distribution, and elimination of compounds prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), analytical assays have been further improved in agreement with the content of the 2013 Prohibited List. In this annual banned-substance review, literature concerning human sports drug testing that was published between October 2012 and September 2013 is summarized and reviewed with particular emphasis on analytical approaches and their contribution to enhanced doping controls.

Abstract:Drug-impaired driving has surpassed alcohol-impaired driving become a major cause of death in car accidents in US. The emergence of new psychoactive drugs and the recreational marijuana legalization in more and more countries and regions have made the situation even more complex. Conventional drug detection methods, such as chromatography-mass spectrometry, were of high selective and accuracy, however, the tedious analytical process makes it difficult to meet the needs for rapid screening of drug on the roadside. Oral fluid testing has become a significant direction for roadside drug testing because of its convenient and non-invasive operation. This review summarizes the currently available techniques for identification/quantification of drugs in oral fluid, and we conclude the review with outlining the roles and applications of testing for drugs in oral fluid, describing the difficulties associated with this form of testing and illustrating where efforts should be directed to answer the most pressing open question. Abstract:After an analysis and a study of international anti-doping legislation and anti-doping codes of some countries through literature review, analysis and comparison, the present paper concludes that the current international anti-doping legislation shows a trend of internationalization, high-level, standard-unification and severe punishment. There is a gap between the current Chinese anti-doping legislation and the trend of international legislation, and the current Chinese anti-doping legislation is hard to meet and adapt itself to the need of the anti-doping campaign. China should reinforce the anti-doping legal construction through a thorough social investigation, enhancement of scientific research, expedition of special legislation, modification of relevant law, and severer punishment, etc.

Abstract:Anabolic steroids, a kind of physiological active substance, are widely abused to improve athletic performance in human sports. They have been forbidden in sports by the International Olympic Committee since 1983. Since then, many researchers have been focusing their attentions on the establishment of reliable detection methods. In this paper, we review the research progresses of different analytical methods for anabolic steroids since 2002, such as gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, immunoassay, electrochemistry analysis and mass spectrometry. The developing prospect of anabolic steroids analysis is also discussed.

Abstract:Context: Doping has been pervasive throughout the history of athletic competitions and has only recently been regulated by organizations such as the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). These regulatory bodies were created to preserve fair play and maintain the safety of the participants. Their updated 2013 lists of banned substances and practices include a variety of drugs and practices that could cause harm to an athlete or give one an unfair competitive advantage. Evidence acquisition: Published websites for the WADA, USADA, and NCAA were investigated. These governing bodies update and publish their lists annually. Results: The WADA, USADA, and NCAA monitor anabolic steroids, hormones, growth factors, β-agonists, hormone and metabolic modulators, masking agents, street drugs, manipulation of blood and blood components, chemical and physical manipulation, gene doping, stimulants, narcotics, glucocorticosteroids, and β-blockers. Some substances may be used by athletes but require formal exemption. The WADA has also recently created a category of nonapproved substances that have yet to be identified to curb athletes from experimenting with new doping agents. Conclusion: The lists of banned substances and practices per the WADA, USADA, and NCAA are in place to ensure the integrity of sports and maintain safe competition. Health care providers who work with athletes under the jurisdiction of these organizations should review updated lists of banned substances when prescribing medications.

Abstract:Objective: To identify and analyze the problems of major medical equipment(class B) allocation and management in China.Methods: National and provincial major medical equipment(class B) regulations were reviewed and compared.Sixteen secondary and tertiary hospitals from three provinces and one municipality were selected and typical investigations and experts meetings were delivered to get in-depth understanding of management status of major medical equipment(class B) allocation and management.Results: Problems of major medical equipment(class B) allocation and management in China included: irrational allocation plan and shortage of allocation in primary-level hospital;low independent research and development level and vacancy of operation personnel management;unclear division of investigation and supervision and insufficient administrative efficiency.Conclusion: Government departments at all levels have issued equipment management policies,which have achieved favorable effect.Continuous efforts of major medical equipment allocation and management should be made.

Abstract:With the application of new technologies in development and production, the quality of vaccines in China had been constantly improved, and vaccines manufactured in China were being supplied to international markets while meeting the domestic immunization program need. Meanwhile, the quality management performance of vaccine manufacturers in China was continually improving. The implementation of the Vaccine Administration Law of the People’s Republic of China had imposed legal systematic requirements on full lifecycle management of vaccines in development, production and supervision, which was of important milestone significance for guiding the development of China’s vaccine industry. Based on the understanding of this law, this article had discussed quality management of vaccines from four aspects including biosafety, application of new technologies for vaccine development and production, process changes and deviation management with practical work taken into account, intended to arouse readers’attention and discussions on this law and relevant issues and provide reference to vaccine manufacturers in production, development and product quality improvement.

Abstract:China’s recently amended and released Provisions for Drug Registration differ from the previous ones in that they have greater emphasis on creating a high standard for drug safety by improving supervision of the registration process and upgrading drug evaluation and approval standards to encourage innovation. Specifically, the new regulation (1) redefines the concept of “new drugs”; (2) specifies the drug categories deserving special approval process; (3) simplifies the contents for preclinical and clinical trial requirements; (4) introduces the term generic drugs; (5) imposes stricter requirements for drug reregistration, supplementary registration, and approval for manufacturing processes and drug package inserts; (6) articulates specific circumstances under which a drug registration application can be denied; (7) adjusts the timelines for the evaluation and approval process; and (8) details legal responsibilities for regulatory personnel and drug registration applicants. The article provides some insights on the amendments of the new Provisions for Drug Registration in China.

Abstract:This review systematically compiles sports-related drugs, substances, and methodologies based on the most frequently detected findings from prohibited lists published annually by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) between 2003 and 2021. Aligned with structure of the 2023 prohibited list, it covers all proscribed items and details the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of five representatives from each section. Notably, it explores significant metabolites and metabolic pathways associated with these substances. Adverse analytical findings are summarized in tables for clarity, and the prevalence is visually represented through charts. The review includes a concise historical overview of doping and WADA's role, examining modifications in the prohibited list for an understanding of evolving anti-doping measures.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To make proposals to improve narcotics and psychotropic substances(NPS)control in China. METH-ODS:NPS control system of international organizations,the United States,Britain and China were compared in terms of concept, classification,regulatory basis and agency,etc. The suggestions and reference were put forward. RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS:NPS of international organizations,the United States,Britain and China are drug types included in relevant categories,besides ana-leptics,precursor chemicals and other drugs are included in control catalogue by the United States and Britain. NPS are divided in-toⅠ-Ⅳcategories by international organizations,Ⅰ-Ⅴcategories by the United States,A,B,C categories and temporary catego-ry by Britain,and narcotics,first and second class psychotropic substances by China. NPS control basis of the United States,Brit-ain and China are Controlled Substances Act,Misuse of Drugs Act and Regulations on Narcotics and Psychotropic Drugs Control, respectively;major regulation organizations are Controlled Substances Enforcement Administration,Advisory Committee on Drug Abuse subordinated to Ministry of Interior,Special Drug Section under China Food and Drug Administration,respectively;there al-so are differences in the functions of control organization and cooperative units. Considering about the problems of NPS control in China,it is suggested to improve laws and regulations system,establish independent system,extend abuse surveillance network and encourage chronic non-cancer pain therapy.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To provide reference for further improvement of law and regulation system of health products in China.METHODS:The differences of the concepts and the market supervisions of health products in the China,Japan,USA and EU were compared and analyzed.RESULTS CONCLUSIONS:The concepts of health products in the countries and areas differ from each other.Those countries and areas' opinions are in agreement about health products.The supervision models can be summarized into the approval system(China) and the recording system(USA).Our country lack of strong supervision of listed products,which result in low quality of health products,abuse of label and confuse propaganda behavior,etc.It is suggested to learn from Japan and USA to formulate comprehensive regulation on the production,operation,circulation of health products and their qualities.There are rules to go by in market behavior of enterprise and supervision behavior of government.At the same time,smooth development of market behavior and supervision behavior can be guaranteed by updating related regulations timely and avoiding contradictions and disjointing.

Abstract:Objective To provide reference for drug recall in China. Methods China and America were the subjects of this study. The recall number, recall subject, recall categories, reasons of drug recall, platform construction of recall information and other aspects were analyzed through statistical analysis of the drug recall data and information from 2007 to 2014, in order to indicate the characteristics of drug recall in China and America in recent years and reflect the current problems of Chinese drug recall. Results and Conclusion In order to improve the operability of drug recall, it is suggested to consummate the recall system of drugs in China through the relevant measures.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To study the development and status quo of controlled substances control in the United States,and to provide evidence for narcotics and psychotropic substances (NPS) control in China. METHODS:The development and status quo of controlled substances control by the United States were summarized and studies through retrieving and collecting literatures,re-ports and policies about NPS from domestic and foreign databases,news reports and international website. RESULTS & CONCLU-SIONS:The United States'control for controlled substances dated back to Harrison Narcotics Tax Act in 1914,and the United States is the first nation to control narcotics addiction through the form of tax law after International Opium Convention is executed. Thereafter,the United States gradually extend the range by including cannabis,heroin and psychotropic substances into control range of Narcotics Drugs Import and Export Act,Heroin Act,Marijuana Tax Act,revising and developing comprehensive act Con-trolled Substances Act,and establishing comprehensive law enforcement agency Controlled Substances Enforcement Administration affiliated to Ministry of Justice by Nixon's"War on Drugs"plan.

Abstract:Objective:To review the current situation of China's off-label use of drugs so as to provide references for management off-label use of drugs.Methods:Analysis the causes of off-label use of drugs by manual literature review,and put forward the countermeas-ures and suggestions over specification.Results and Conclusion:Off-label use of drugs widespread in clinical treatment currently,medi-cation management should be strengthened over the instructions,effective physician-patient communication mechanism should be establish-ment,strengthen the supervision and guidance by clinical pharmacists and other measures to reduce irrational drug use,promote off-label drug use legislation as soon as possible.
