Abstract:It is necessary to adopt effective technologies promptly to investigate and find out the rural land management right spatial distribution. We developed land parcel fundamental information field acquisition system PDA of rural land management right contract which can conveniently collect fundamental information such as land parcel spatial location information, management right information and land use /management information, etc, and we carried out land parcel spatial investigation of rural land management right. The results showed that this method is suitable for small area survey, providing a new technique for current rural land contract registration and pilot in Beijing. However, restricted by adverse regional working environment, PDA is not suitable for large area land parcel survey.

Abstract:Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology has been widely used in forestry surveys in the form of airborne laser scanning (ALS), terrestrial laser scanning (TLS), and mobile laser scanning (MLS). The acquisition of important basic tree parameters (e.g., diameter at breast height and tree position) in forest inventory did not solve the problem of low measurement efficiency or weak GNSS signal under the canopy. A personal laser scanning (PLS) device combined with SLAM technology provides an effective solution for forest inventory under complex conditions with its light weight and flexible mobility. This study proposes a new method for calculating the volume of a cylinder using point cloud data obtained by a PLS device by fitting to a polygonal cylinder to calculate the diameter of the trunk. The point cloud data of tree trunks of different thickness were modeled using different fitting methods. The rate of correct tree trunk detection was 93.3% and the total deviation of the estimations of tree diameter at breast height (DBH) was -1.26 cm. The root mean square errors (RMSEs) of the estimations of the extracted DBH and the tree position were 1.58 cm and 26 cm, respectively. The survey efficiency of the personal laser scanning (PLS) device was 30m2/min for each investigator, compared with 0.91m2/min for the field survey. The test demonstrated that the PLS device combined with the SLAM algorithm provides an efficient and convenient solution for forest inventory.

Abstract:In order to practically complete the survey work of forest land change in Guizhou Province,improve the detection accuracy of the various land's types of the survey of forest land change and ensure the data timeliness of forest land resource.On the basis of processed Rapid Eye remote sensing image,establishing zoning spot marked cards of the judgment of remote sensing in Guizhou for interpretation.Precision analysis of interpretation show that the using Rapid-Eye to sensing image interpretation of Guizhou forest land change is feasible.Both the interpretation accuracy of number of forestland and interpretation accuracy of number of non-forest is 98%,the second,both the interpretation accuracy of number of shrub-land and interpretation accuracy of number of other forest land is 96%,the interpretation accuracy of number of no arbor forestland is 94%.Using ArcGIS9.3to establish the database of attributes of remote sensing.Finally,improving the quality and efficiency of the interpretation of the remote sensing,providing a theoretical basis to implement the dynamic management and update of forest resources.

Abstract:Utilizing spatial information technology to get wide land parcel information is an important way to improve the field operation efficiency.Using Personal Digital Assistant(PDA) as the hardware platform and based on land parcel data and up-to-date high resolution images data,this paper establishes a land parcel information collection system under GIS environment with PDA as the hardware platform.The system is developed with embedded components.It implements functions including location,navigation and information collection,resolves image compression and cutting problems.Practical results validate the feasibility and high efficiency of the system.

Abstract:Abstract With the progress of information technology, the acquisition, analysis and application of data continue to deepen. Big Data(BD) is affecting our life and work, and gardens are inevitably affected. BD brings opportunities for landscape architecture, changes planning and design ideas, and promotes discipline cooperation and data fusion. At the same time, it also brings challenges. The pure data theory and the protection of privacy are the problems we need to face and solve. In view of these problems, this paper puts forward the application research of BD in improving the landscape plant landscaping method. In this paper, according to the current situation of landscape plant landscaping in China, 210 landscape workers and BD technical personnel in China were selected as the survey objects, and the satisfaction of BD technology application was more than 85%, which played a role in promoting the landscape plant landscaping methods. Through the comparative analysis of the standardization, in telligence and scientificity of traditional landscape design and BD landscape design, it is concluded that the indicators of BD landscape design are superior to the traditional landscape design. BD technology provides technical support for the research of landscape plant landscaping methods.

This paper describes the using of these techniques in the Entironment investigation of Minjiang Upriver, based on national 863 projects 308 mission Xibujinjinxingdong sub-mission. With the help of forestry, water resource and agrology techniques, a main routine of work flow are introduced. It mainly comprises seven steps: (1) Collect related data, thematic maps, such as Land Use Maps and Forest Maps, were gathered; (2) Select the raw remote sensing images with thinking of the vegetation properties and the scale of target map. A red, green and blue (RGB) colors composite of Landsat TM's band 432 is selected as the information sources; (3) Process and interpret the remote sensing images with ortho-image technique and interactive working method. As a result, 46 digital maps of 1:100,000 scale was produced; (4) perform field work or inspect on the spot with the help of GPS. More than 2000 kilometers routine and 294 patches was validated,;(5) Second time Interpretation; (6) Design and create the geodatabase. Not less than 20 layers was designed to contain necessary geo-information; and (7) Acquire, edit and store spatial data with the help of GIS software. After all these works, some spatial analysis is made. It clearly reveals large changes between 1990 and 2000: Nature forest area has decreased about 60,000 ha; Manually planted forest has increased about 30,000 ha; Grassland and plow land have been decreasing in various level; Arid valley has the tendency to enlarge. According to some forestry study, main reason such as over felling the forest, tillage on steep mountain slopes in upper river and government behavior is discussed to interpret these large changes in the end of this paper.

Abstract:In recent times, airborne and terrestrial laser scanning have been utilized to collect point cloud data for forest resource surveys, aiding in the estimation of tree and stand attributes over hectare-scale plots. In this study, an automated approach was devised to estimate the diameter at breast height (DBH) and tree height across the entire sample area, utilizing information acquired from terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) and airborne laser scanning (ULS). Centered around a meticulously managed artificial forest in Northern China, where Mongolian oak and Chinese Scots pine are the predominant species, both TLS and ULS operations were conducted concurrently on each plot. Subsequent to data collection, a detailed processing of the point cloud data was carried out, introducing an innovative algorithm to facilitate the matching of individual tree point clouds from ULS and TLS sources. To enhance the accuracy of DBH estimation, a weighted regression correction equation based on TLS data was introduced. The estimations obtained for the Chinese Scots pine plots showed a correlation of R2 = 0.789 and a root mean square error (RMSE) of 3.2 cm, while for the Mongolian oak plots, an improved correlation of R2 = 0.761 and a RMSE of 3.1 cm was observed between predicted and measured values. This research significantly augments the potential for non-destructive estimations of tree structural parameters on a hectare scale by integrating TLS and ULS technologies. The advancements hold paramount importance in the domain of large-scale forest surveys, particularly in the calibration and validation of aboveground biomass (AGB) estimations.

Abstract:Drones of various shapes, sizes, and functionalities have emerged over the past few decades, and their civilian applications are becoming increasingly appealing. Flexible, low-cost, and high-resolution remote sensing systems that use drones as platforms are important for filling data gaps and supplementing the capabilities of crewed/manned aircraft and satellite remote sensing systems. Here, we refer to this growing remote sensing initiative as drone remote sensing and explain its unique advantages in forestry research and practices. Furthermore, we summarize the various approaches of drone remote sensing to surveying forests, mapping canopy gaps, measuring forest canopy height, tracking forest wildfires, and supporting intensive forest management. The benefits of drone remote sensing include low material and operational costs, flexible control of spatial and temporal resolution, high-intensity data collection, and the absence of risk to crews. The current forestry applications of drone remote sensing are still at an experimental stage, but they are expected to expand rapidly. To better guide the development of drone remote sensing for sustainable forestry, it is important to systematically and continuously conduct comparative studies to determine the appropriate drone remote sensing technologies for various forest conditions and/or forestry applications.

Terrestrial Videogrammetry for Deriving Key Forest Inventory Data: A Case Study in Plantation

Abstract:Computer vision technology has promoted the rapid development of forest observation equipment, and video photography (videogrammetry) has provided new ideas and means for forestry investigation. According to the characteristics of videogrammetry, a spiral observation method is proposed. Meanwhile, a new point cloud data processing method is proposed, which extracts a point cloud at the diameter at breast height (DBH) section and determines the DBH of trees through cylinder fitting and circle fitting, according to the characteristics of the point cloud model and the real situation of occlusion in the sampled area, and then calculates the biomass. Through a large number of experiments, a more effective and relatively high-precision method for DBH extraction is obtained. Compared with the field survey data, the bias% of DBH extracted by videogrammetry was −3.19~2.87%, and the RMSE% was 5.52~7.76%. Compared with the TLS data, the bias% of −4.78~2.38%, and the RMSE% was 5.63~9.87%. The above-ground biomass (AGB) estimates from the videogrammetry showed strong agreement with the reference values with concordance correlation coefficient (CCC) and the RMSE values of 0.97 and 19.8 kg. Meanwhile, the AGB estimate from TLS agrees with the CCC values and the RMSE of 0.97 and 17.23 kg. Videogrammetry is not only cheap, low cost, and fast, but also can be observed in a relatively complex forest environment, with strong anti-interference ability. The experimental results prove that its accuracy is comparable to TLS and photogrammetry. Thus this work is quite valuable in a forest resources survey. We believe that the calculation accuracy of our new method can fully meet the needs of the forest survey.

Abstract:The authors of the paper developed a pest real-time monitoring system of urban green space based on Web Service,combined with the use of PDA(personal digital assistant),to solve the problem of information exchanging and sharing occurring in urban green space pest early warning and monitoring.Investigator can gather pest information by PDA,which transmits data via wireless;meanwhile the system management platform can receive the survey results,and release pest reports after analysis and processing.The system,applied to monitoring open green space of Shanghai EXPO Site,received 153 pieces of information and announced 16 alarming reports.The results showed that the PDA pest monitoring system based on Web Service can gather and announce pest information forthwith,and realize the pest real-time and informative monitoring.
