Abstract:Soil and water conservation project in the loess plateau of China is focus on improving its feasibility with new technology. This paper discussed on the application of "3S" technology in a soil and water conservation project of selected small watershed of Jingjiahe, Loess plateau. The research presents an approach to apply RUSLE to quantify soil and water loss by the help of "3S" technology, the suitability evaluation for each piece of land is implemented with the assessment indices. Finally, according to the nature condition and economic development trend, by accomplishing the analysis of the comprehensive control benefits for the small watershed, establishing rational land use pattern. Through five years construction of soil and water conservation, the controlling soil erosion area up to 2369.98 hectares, harnesseddegree reaches 80.66%, the per capita net income will float up from Y 944.72 to Y 1049.75, the annual preserved area ofendangered soil will be 90,000t with the efficiency increased by more than 22%, eventually the soil and water loss shall be well under control. This indicates that "3S" technology make the work more cost-effective, more efficient and more reliable taking into account the precise data which are processed in the planning.

Abstract:Land resource management is one of the most important ways to deal with the relationship between land resource and human being to improve land use efficiency and gain more benefits. “3S” technology refers to remote sensing (RS), global positioning system (GPS) and geological information system (GIS). “3S” technology is widely used in different fields generally as an excellent method and it has advantages to exploit in land resource management. Now as the population grows, the conflict between land resource and mankind extrudes with global resource shortage. The effort using “3S” cannot be ignored. This article explains the definition and ability of “3S” technology and analyze the application of “3S” in the Investigation of land resource, land environment dynamic monitoring, land evaluation, land consolidation and land planning. The author concludes the utilization of “3S” technology in land resource management and looks forward its development in the future from different perspectives. Informatization, intelligent and integration are three directions “3S” will make progress. This article takes some examples to illustrate how to help “3S” technology step forward in the future. Through these ways, the optimized “3S” technology has ability to overcome disadvantages and build up new use of the way. So the efficiency of land resource management will be improved obviously to achieve the sustainable use goal of land resource.

Abstract:The Guojiahe small watershed was used as an example. With the support of 3S technology,the data were collected and processed,and then a fundamental geographical database about the small watershed was built.Soil erosion intemsity was identified by the rapid assessment of soil erosion. Land grading was implemented by the land gradation evaluation model.After this,the goals of master plan,land size used for agriculture,forestry and animal husbantry are mapped out,and relevant control measures according to local conditions are formulated.With the help of 3S technology,the whole project can be carried out in a comprehensive way.

Abstract:In this paper,the principle and 3S technology application in precision agriculture were described.By using the differential GPS,the positioning accuracy was greatly improved,and by application normalized vegetation index NDVI value,leaf area index and plant nitrogen content were monitored.Depending on the GPS navigation,the field was sampled according to the grid,and then after the analysis,fertilization prescription figure was produced guiding variable fertilization.

Abstract:This paper analyzes the research status of 3S technology in China's wetlands. The research of 3S technology in wetland landscape pattern and driving force analysis is increasing day by day. Most of the research uses 3S technology to calculate the landscape index, and reveals the change rule of wetland landscape pattern characteristics with natural and human factors from the type scale and landscape scale. The use of 3S technology for wetland information extraction and dynamic monitoring research is gradually increasing. In most studies, wetland information was extracted according to different classification criteria, and spatio-temporal characteristics of wetland were analyzed based on area change, spatial distribution and shape change. With the development, planning and protection of wetland resources, the advantages of 3S technology will become more prominent.

Abstract:Since the 1980s, due to China's economic development, large tracts of forest trees have been felled, causing serious soil erosion and environmental pollution problems. But since the beginning of this century, China has started to convert farmland to forests and various vegetation restoration activities. The purpose of returning farmland to forest is to better protect the environment and prevent soil erosion. This paper introduces the use of remote sensing images to detect the implementation of the project of returning farmland to forest. Explain the method of sample selection and the steps of data collection. The plan on remote sensing monitoring of returning farmland to forest was introduced. At the same time, the help and continuous monitoring of remote sensing technology after returning farmland to forest was introduced. This article contains examples and analysis of scientists using GIS technology to assist in returning farmland to forests. Finally, it includes the prospect and expectation of GIS for the project of returning farmland to forest. And the future application of this technology in this project is prospected.

Abstract:This paper examines 3S technology in application on the instream habitat assessment, based on data collection of instream habitats, information space analysis and expression and construction of habitat suitability index model (HSI model),a light of the challenges imposed by the spatial and temporal domains of aquatic ecosystems. The prospect of 3S technology used in instream habitat assessment is also analyzed. The reviewed studies have shown that 3S technology have been well established for efficient ecosystem descriptions and species modelling within a large range of scales and habitats. This effort should represent a tool-rich environment upon which researchers and practitioners can draw to provide scientifically based quantifications in support of management decisions which must protect and enhance our aquatic ecosystems.

Abstract:RS/GIS/GPS is a series of efficient techniques for acquiring, managing and analyzing geographic information. This paper describes the using of these techniques in the Entironment investigation of Minjiang Upriver, based on national 863 projects 308 mission Xibujinjinxingdong sub-mission. With the help of forestry, water resource and agrology techniques, a main routine of work flow are introduced. It mainly comprises seven steps: (1) Collect related data, thematic maps, such as Land Use Maps and Forest Maps, were gathered; (2) Select the raw remote sensing images with thinking of the vegetation properties and the scale of target map. A red, green and blue (RGB) colors composite of Landsat TM's band 432 is selected as the information sources; (3) Process and interpret the remote sensing images with ortho-image technique and interactive working method. As a result, 46 digital maps of 1:100,000 scale was produced; (4) perform field work or inspect on the spot with the help of GPS. More than 2000 kilometers routine and 294 patches was validated,;(5) Second time Interpretation; (6) Design and create the geodatabase. Not less than 20 layers was designed to contain necessary geo-information; and (7) Acquire, edit and store spatial data with the help of GIS software. After all these works, some spatial analysis is made. It clearly reveals large changes between 1990 and 2000: Nature forest area has decreased about 60,000 ha; Manually planted forest has increased about 30,000 ha; Grassland and plow land have been decreasing in various level; Arid valley has the tendency to enlarge. According to some forestry study, main reason such as over felling the forest, tillage on steep mountain slopes in upper river and government behavior is discussed to interpret these large changes in the end of this paper.

This review summarizes the application of object-oriented classification methods on biodiversity monitoring projects based on high-resolution remote sensing imagines in China. Biodiversity conservation research based on GIS technology in China is also discussed, with emphasis on the advantages of GIS analysis and modeling function.

Abstract:There are a lot of problems in traditional site-situation 3D model building technology,such as high technical threshold,long operation period,heavy workload and limited accuracy.These problems constrain the application of digital city technology in the landscape design field.Along with the continually increase requirement of urban development for landscape design and more complexity of the site condition,there appears new research hotspots in landscape design on how to realize the delicate analysis and create more visual landscape design plan for comparison,so as to improve the accuracy and operability of landscape design.This paper has been setting up based on the technology experience of building digital city.It introduces the technology abouthow to obtain the image informationon the surface using unmanned aerial vehicles and build 3D real-scene models.Thus,it could realize the 3D spatial analysis and fine design specific to the site.The result shows that 3D real-time model has many advantages such as fast,visual and accurate,thus it could come into play in all kinds of phases in planning and design.
