Abstract:Fourteen 1,2,3-triaroylindolizines were prepared conveniently by oxidation of corresponding N-aracyl pyridinium or substituted pyridinium bromides with a versatile oxidant TPCD [(Py4Co(HCrO4)2, tetrakis-pyridino-cobalt (II) dichromate] in 12-42 % yields.

Abstract:An efficient synthesis of 1,2,3‐triaroylindolizines has been developed via CuBr2‐promoted reaction of three molecules of aromatic methyl ketones and one molecule of pyridine derivative. A wide range of methyl aryl ketones and methyl heteroaryl ketones took part in the reaction and generate 1,2,3‐triaroylindolizines in good yields. This protocol also features such advantages as mild reaction conditions and high atom economy and step economy.

Abstract:We have developed a novel and efficient method for the preparation of 2,4-disubstituted-1,2,3-triazoles. These compounds 3a-3p were synthesized in good yield by refluxing alpha-aminoacetophenones and hydrazines in glacial acetic acid. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions and is compatible with various functional groups.

Abstract:A novel and convenient one-step method for the synthesis of 1,3,4,-Triaryl-substituted-3,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones (3) was developed by cyclization of aromatic isocyanates (1) with 3-arylamino-1-phenylpropan-1-ones (2) under refluxing of toluene. Effects of reaction conditions on the converting ratio and yield were investigated. The method offered several advantages including simple experimental procedure, easily available starting materials and excellent yields (79%similar to 96%).

Abstract:An efficient [bis-(trifluoroacetoxy)iodo]benzene (PIFA)-mediated oxidative C-N bond formation is developed for the synthesis of 1H-indazoles from readily available arylhydrazones. The reaction tolerates a wide range of functional groups and has broad scope of substrates. Moreover, this method is a relative green and reliable method for rapid preparation of substituted 1H-indazoles under mild conditions.

Abstract:Ethyl and phenyl oxanilates were readily prepared from N-(2-bromobenzyl)anilines and oxalyl chloride monoethyl and monophenyl esters, respectively. It was found that the ethyl oxanilate survived in the presence of K2CO3 in DMA at 120 degrees C and underwent an intramolecular direct arylation using Pd(OAc)(2)-dppf, furnishing the 5,6-dihydrophenanthridine derivative. In contrast, the corresponding phenyl oxanilates decomposed upon exposure to K2CO3 in DMA at 120 degrees C and were transformed into N-arylisoindolin-1-ones via Pd(OAc)(2)-dppf-catalyzed intramolecular decarbonylative coupling. Except for the 4-methoxy-substituted oxanilic acid phenyl ester, other phenyl oxanilates possessing electron-withdrawing (NO2, Cl) and weak electron-donating (Me) substituents provided the N-arylisoindolin-1-ones in 43-80% yields.

Abstract:A facile and general one-step method is presented for the synthesis of aromatic indolizine compounds 3a–n in moderate to high yields (53–99%) by reaction of the pyridinium N-ylides 1a–e, the quinolinium N-ylide 1f and the isoquinolinium N-ylide 1g with various olefinic dipolarophiles, such as acrylonitrile 2a, methyl acrylate 2b, acrylamide 2c, diethyl maleate 2d and methyl crotonate 2e, respectively, in the presence of a new oxidant TPCD [Copy4(HCrO4)2, tetrapyridinecobalt(II) dichromate] at 90 °C for 2 h in DMF.

Abstract:Rhodium-catalyzed coupling reaction of 3-diazoindolin-2-imines with 2-arylpyridines, 2-phenylpyrimidines, or 1-phenylpyrazoles furnished the corresponding 3-aryl-2-aminoindoles in moderate to excellent yields. A variety of functional groups were tolerant to the reaction conditions.

Abstract:3-Sulfonyl[1,2,3]triazolo[4,5-b]indoles were efficiently prepared via a tandem catalysis process involving intramolecular ligand stabilized CuAAC and Cu-catalyzed C–N coupling. The obtained 3-sulfonyl[1,2,3]triazolo[4,5-b]indoles could be utilized as α-imino rhodium carbene precursors for the construction of a range of valuable indole molecules including pyrrolo[2,3-b]indoles, spirocyclopropyl iminoindoles, 2,3-dihydropyrrolo[2,3-b]indoles, 3,3′-biindoles, and 2,3′-biindoles.

Abstract:The efficient synthesis of 4-hydroxy-3-arylindolin-2-ones via phosphoric acid-mediated annulation of various β-nitrostyrenes and 1,3-cyclohexanedione is described. This annulation reaction gives a practical method for affording a diverse set of oxindoles, having simple experimentation, readily available starting materials, and very good yields. Additionally, substituted 1,3-cyclohexanediones under the same conditions afforded tetrahydrobenzofuran oxime compounds.

Abstract:A convenient, metal-free, and organic acid-base promoted synthetic method to prepare 3-arylindoles from 3-aryloxirane-2-carbonitriles and arylhydrazine hydrochlorides has been developed. In the reaction, the organic acid catalyzes a tandem nucleophilic ring-opening reaction of aryloxiranecarbonitriles and arylhydrazine hydrochlorides and Fischer indolization. The organic base triethylamine plays a crucial role in the final elimination step in the Fischer indole synthesis, affording 3-arylindoles regiospecifically. The reaction features advantages of microwave acceleration, non-metal participation, short reaction time, organic acid-base co-catalysis, and broad substrate scope.

Abstract:Recently, N-hydroxyindole derivatives have received much interest because of their unique structural motif and various biological activities. In this study, we report the first example of a Rh(III)-catalyzed reaction of arylnitrones with α-diazoketoesters or α-diazodiketones to produce N-hydroxyindole derivatives. Intriguingly, we could build the N-hydroxyindole scaffold by blocking the cleavage of the N-O bond selectively, while eliminating the acyl group of α-diazoketoesters or α-diazodiketones preferentially.

Abstract:A novel cyclization reaction of pyridinium 1,4-zwitterionic thiolates and propiolic acid derivatives mediated by triethylamine is described, which allows the facile synthesis of indolizines under mild reaction conditions. The net transformation involves an acetylide-driven formal [5 + 1] annulation reaction followed by a spontaneous ring-contraction/sulfur extrusion process of transient pyridothiazine intermediates.

Abstract:4-Diazoisoquinolin-3-ones were prepared efficiently via TBAB-promoted rearrangement of 4-diazoisochroman-3-imines under mild reaction conditions. The resulted 4-diazoisoquinolin-3-ones could be conveniently applied for the synthesis of 4-aryltetrahydroisoquinolin-3-ones either by the TfOH-catalyzed reaction with electron-rich arenes or by the BF3-promoted reaction with aryl aldehydes.
