Abstract:3,5-Diarylisoxazoles 2 a-i were prepared in moderate to high yields (51-94%) by oxidation of chalcone oximes with a new metal complex oxidant, tetrakis(pyridine)cobalt(II) dichromate (TPCD).

Abstract:We have developed a novel and efficient method for the preparation of 2,4-disubstituted-1,2,3-triazoles. These compounds 3a-3p were synthesized in good yield by refluxing alpha-aminoacetophenones and hydrazines in glacial acetic acid. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions and is compatible with various functional groups.

Abstract:Herein, we report the first intramolecular C-N bond formation of phenylpropanamide derivatives via organocatalytic oxidative reactions, affording 3,3-disubstituted oxindole derivatives with up to 99% yield. The high efficiency of this reaction is exemplified by the transition metal-free mild conditions and the ability to perform the reaction on a gram scale. Meanwhile, the DFT calculation of the catalytic oxidative transformation pathway has also been studied.

Abstract:Fourteen 1,2,3-triaroylindolizines were prepared conveniently by oxidation of corresponding N-aracyl pyridinium or substituted pyridinium bromides with a versatile oxidant TPCD [(Py4Co(HCrO4)2, tetrakis-pyridino-cobalt (II) dichromate] in 12-42 % yields.

Abstract:An efficient N-H and C(sp3)-H functionalization of aryl ketones with benzylamines/amino acids was developed under mild conditions by virtue of anodic oxidation. A variety of functionalized 2,5-diaryloxazoles were obtained with good to excellent yields. Moreover, some important natural products can be prepared by this method. The reaction features a broad substrate scope, scalability, metal-free and chemical oxidant-free.

Abstract:A novel and transition metal-free synthesis of 3,4-dihydro-1,2-oxaphosphinine 2-oxides was developed. LiHMDS-mediated tandem Michael addition and nucleophilic substitution of readily available phosphonochloridates and chalcones afforded a variety of valuable 3,4-dihydro-1,2-oxaphosphinine 2-oxides bearing diverse functionalities in excellent yields and satisfactory to good diastereoselectivity (up to 99% yield and up to 99 : 1 dr).

Abstract:The organoselenium-induced ring-closure reaction of O-allyl oximes gave cyclic iminium salts, which reacted with Grignard reagents to produce N-alkyl-4-phenylselenoisoxazolidines. 2,5-Dihydroisoxazoles could be obtained in good yields by subsequent selenoxide syn-elimination.

Abstract:The derivatives of 1-benzoyl-2-arylindolizine were prepared in moderate yields of 41%-78% by CrO3/Et3N promoted 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of pyridinium N-ylides and chalcones. Under the same conditions, CrO3/Et3N promoted 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of isoquinolinium N-ylides and chalcones provided the corresponding 1-benzoyl-2-arylpyffolo[2,1-a]isoquinolines in 45%-61% yields.

Abstract:CF3-containing spiro-epoxyoxindoles were successfully prepared via the Corey-Chaykovsky reaction of N-alkyl isatins with the ylide generated from Ph2S+CH2CF3OTf- with almost exclusive diastereoselectivity. Further derivatizations of these spiro-epoxyoxindoles were explored via a photochemical reaction or Lewis acid-promoted allylation.

Abstract:An efficient synthesis toward 2-alkyl substituted oxazoles has been achieved through Suzuki cross-coupling reaction. Treatment of various alkyl iodides with 9-MeO-BBN, followed by in situ palladium-catalyzed carbon–carbon formation with 2-iodooxazoles obtained the 2-alkyl substituted oxazoles in good to excellent yields. Regioselective C2-alkylation on 2,4-di-iodooxazole under the same reaction conditions was firstly disclosed.

Abstract:A simple and efficient approach to obtain optically pure 1,4-diols was established. The asymmetric oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides with cumyl hydroperoxide in moderate yields and moderate to high enantioselectivities (up to 84%) catalyzed by chiral Ti/1,4-diols complexes has been achieved. A 76% ee value was obtained in the asymmetric synthesis of esomeprazole.

Abstract:The direct asymmetric vinylogous Michael addition of 3,5-dialkyl-substituted 4-nitroisoxazoles with alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehydes catalyzed by a diphenylprolinol TBS ether organocatalyst is described, giving products with moderate to good yields and up to excellent enantioselectivities (96% ee). This approach provides an easy access to highly functionalized chiral isoxazole derivatives.

Abstract:A facile method for the synthesis of thiochromanyl-spirooxindoles via sulfa-Michael/Aldol reaction of 3-ylideneoxindoles with thiosalicylaldehydes has been developed. This tandem reaction, which tolerates a wide variety of functional groups, furnished diverse substituted functional thiochromanyl-spirooxindples in up to 90% yields with good diastereoselectivities. Abstract:The advance of organic synthesis and the discovery of novel chemical transformations are often propelled by the rational programming of various bond-forming mechanisms and sequences that involve delicate reactive intermediates. In this study, we present an innovative Rh(II)-catalyzed asymmetric three-component cascade reaction involving I III /P V -hybrid ylides, aldehydes, and carboxylic acids for the synthesis of 1,3-dioxoles with moderate to good yields and high enantioselectivity. This method utilizes I III /P V -hybrid ylides as carbene precursors to form a-PV-Rh-carbenes, which initiate the formation of carbonyl ylides, followed by stereoselective cyclization with carboxylate anions and an intramolecular Wittig olefination cascade, ultimately resulting in the modular assembly of chiral 1,3-dioxoles. By employing this strategy, we successfully coupled various aldehydes and carboxylic acids into chiral non-benzofused 1,3-dioxole scaffolds, highlighting the potential for late-stage functionalization of biologically relevant molecules, versatile synthetic manipulation, and the production of poly-1,3-dioxole macromolecules.

Abstract:2-((Phenylsulfonyl)methyl)-4,5-diphenyloxazole is a useful scaffold for synthetic elaboration at the 2-methylene position thereby affording extended oxazoles. The corresponding α-sulfonyl anion reacts smoothly with diverse alkyl halides giving monoalkylated (47-90%), dialkylated (50-97%), and cyclic (59-93%) products. The reductive desulfonylation of the monoalkylated and selected dialkylated products was optimized with a magnesium/mercuric chloride reagent system and afforded desulfonylated products in the range of 66-97%. The anti-inflammatory Oxaprozin was prepared using the α-sulfonyl carbanion strategy along with optimized desulfonylation.

Abstract:3-Sulfanyloxindoles were synthesised by triphenylphosphine-mediated transition-metal-free thiolation of oxindoles using sulfonyl chlorides as sulfenylation reagents. The above reaction was promoted by iodide anions, which was ascribed to the in situ conversion of sulfenyl chlorides into the more reactive sulfenyl iodides. Moreover, the thiolation of 3-aryloxindoles was facilitated by bases. The use of a transition-metal-free protocol, readily available reagents, and mild reaction conditions make this protocol more practical for preparing 3-sulfanyloxindoles than traditional methods.
