Study on the Correlation Between Self-care Agency and Healthy Behavior among Cancer Patients with PICC

Abstract:Objective To discuss the status of self-care agency and healthy behaviors and their correlations among cancer patients with peripherally inserted central catheter(PICC).Methods A total of 102 cancer patients with PICC were surveyed with the Exercise of Self-care Agency Scale(ESCA),the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile(HPL) and a questionnaire designed to determine the socio-demographic features.Results The score of ESCA was(89.16±19.75),80.4% cancer patients was at a moderate level,and the score of HPL was(98.21±18.90),89.2% cancer patients was at a moderate level as well.Moreover,the result showed there was a positive correlation between ESCA and HPL(r=0.632,P0.01).Conclusion The level of ESCA and HPL in cancer patients with PICC is at moderate level,and there is a positive correlation between self-care agency and healthy behaviors.When nursing plan for cancer patients with PICC is designed and implemented,it is necessary to pay attention to enhance their self-care agency,so as to promote healthy behaviors.
