Comparative study of quality of life between PICC and VPA in postoperative chemotherapy for patients with digestive tract tumor

Abstract:Objective:To compare peripherally inserted central venous catheter (PICC)and implantable central venous port (VPA)in the application of chemotherapy in patients with gastrointestinal cancer after operation,analysis of factors differences in the quality of life and self-care ability and influence.Methods:The digestive tract tumor surgery from October 2013 to June 2016 were after chemotherapy in 306 cases,by the convenience sampling method and divided into PICC group (control group,n = 155)and VPA group (experimental group,n = 151),comparing the catheter to the quality of life,self-care ability difference,analyze its influencing factors.Results:Before catheter,no significant difference in quality of life scores of the two groups of patients (P > 0.05),there are differences in scores on self-care ability (P< 0.05).After 3 cycles of chemotherapy catheter,experimental group self-care ability,qual-ity of life was significantly higher than the control group,the difference was statistically significant (P< 0.05).The risk factors affecting the quality of life of the two groups of patients including gender,tumor type,pathology staging.Conclusion:Catheter life quality score before the two groups had no significant difference,after the catheter two groups of self-care ability and life quality score of experimental group was significantly higher than the control group,suggesting that VPA catheter can improve the patient's self-care ability and quality of life,is the digestive tract tumor after chemotherapy in patients with deep venous catheter selection tube.
