Abstract:We outline a proof of a remarkable conjecture of Labastida-Mari{\~n}o-Ooguri-Vafa about certain new algebraic structures of quantum link invariants and the integrality of infinite family of new topological invariants. Our method is based on the cut-and-join analysis and a special rational ring characterizing the structure of the Chern-Simons partition function.

Abstract:We give a simpler proof of Vishik's nonuniqueness Theorem for the forced 2D Euler equation in the vorticity class $L^1\cap L^p$ with $2<p<\infty$. The main simplification is an alternative construction of a smooth and compactly supported unstable vortex, which is split into two steps: Firstly, we construct a piecewise constant unstable vortex, and secondly, we find a regularization through a fixed point argument. This simpler structure of the unstable vortex yields a simplification of the other parts of Vishik's proof.

Abstract:We give a dynamical proof of a result of Masser and Zannier [MZ2, MZ3] about torsion points on the Legendre family of elliptic curves. Our methods also treat points of small height. A key ingredient is the arithmetic equidistribution theorem on $\mathbb{P}^1$ of Baker-Rumely, Chambert-Loir, and Favre-Rivera-Letelier. Torsion points on the elliptic curve coincide with preperiodic points for the degree-4 Lattes family of rational functions. Our main new results concern properties of the bifurcation measures for this Lattes family associated to marked points.

Abstract:In [41] Okuyama and Sakai gave a conjectural equality for the higher genus generalized Brézin--Gross--Witten (BGW) free energies. In a recent work [46] we established the Hodge-BGW correspondence on the relationship between certain special cubic Hodge integrals and the generalized BGW correlators, and a proof of the Okuyama--Sakai conjecture was also given ${\it ibid}$. In this paper, we give a new proof of the Okuyama--Sakai conjecture by a further application of the Dubrovin--Zhang theory for the KdV hierarchy.

Abstract:A technique to calculate the colored Jones polynomials of satellite knots, illustrated by the Whitehead doubles of knots, is presented. Then we prove the volume conjecture for Whitehead doubles of a family of torus knots and show some interesting observations.

Abstract:We are concerned with the stability of compressible vortex sheets in two-dimensional steady supersonic Euler flows over Lipschitz walls under a BV boundary perturbation, since steady supersonic Euler flows are important in many physical situations. It is proved that steady compressible vortex sheets in supersonic flow are stable in structure globally, even under the BV perturbation of the Lipschitz walls. In order to achieve this, we develop a modified Glimm difference scheme and identify a Glimm-type functional to obtain the required BV estimates by incorporating the Lipschitz boundary and the strong vortex sheets naturally and by tracing the interaction not only between the boundary and weak waves but also between the strong vortex sheets and weak waves. Then these estimates are employed to establish the convergence of the approximate solutions to a global entropy solution and the corresponding approximate strong vortex sheets to a strong compressible vortex sheet of the entropy solution. The asymptotic stability of entropy solutions in the flow direction is also established.

Abstract:A significant theorem of L\"uck says that the first $L^2$-Betti number of the total space of a fibration vanishes under some conditions on the fundamental groups. The proof is based on constructions on chain complexes. In the present paper, we translate the proof into the world of CW-complexes to make it more accessible.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a sign-changing free boundary problem that comes from the boundary regularity of rotating vortex patches of the two-dimensional incompressible Euler equations. The complete classification of singular points has been obtained through establishing a new Weiss-type monotonicity formula. Upon these results, we prove that only $90^\circ$ corner type of singularity could happen at the boundary of a Lipschitz rotating vortex patch, while the other parts are $C^\infty$ smooth.

Abstract:We consider the construction of linear instability of parallel shear flows, which was developed by Zhiwu Lin (SIAM J. Math. Anal. 35(2), 2003). We give an alternative simple proof in Sobolev setting of the problem, which exposes the role of the Plemenj-Sokhotski formula in the emergence of the instability, as well as does not require the cone condition. Moreover, we localize this approach to obtain an approximation of the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability of a flat vortex sheet.

Abstract:In 1986, Zamolodchikov conjectured an exponential structure for the semi-classical limit of conformal blocks on a sphere. This paper provides a rigorous proof of the analog of Zamolodchikov conjecture for Liouville conformal blocks on a one-punctured torus, using their probabilistic construction and show the existence of a positive radius of convergence of the semi-classical limit. As a consequence, we obtain a closed form expression for the solution of the Lamé equation, and show a relation between its accessory parameter and the classical action of the non-autonomous elliptic Calogero-Moser model evaluated at specific values of the solution.

Abstract:The well-posedness of Cauchy problem of 3D compressible Euler equations is studied. By using Smith-Tataru's approach \cite{ST}, we prove the local existence, uniqueness and stability of solutions for Cauchy problem of 3D compressible Euler equations, where the initial data of velocity, density, specific vorticity $v, \rho \in H^s, \varpi \in H^{s_0} (2<s_0<s)$. It's an alternative and simplified proof of the result given by Q. Wang in \cite{WQEuler}.
Existence of non-Abelian vortices in a coupled 4D-2D quantum field theory

Abstract:Vortices produce locally concentrated field configurations and are solutions to the nonlinear partial differential equations systems of complicated structures. In this paper, we establish the existence and uniqueness for solutions of the gauged non-Abelian vortices in a coupled 4D-2D quantum field theory by researching the nonlinear elliptic equations systems with exponential terms in $\mathbb{R}^{2}$ using the calculus of variations. In addition, we obtain the asymptotic behavior of the solutions at infinity and the quantized integrals in $\mathbb{R}^{2}$.

Abstract:We present a mathematical proof of a conjectural formula due to Aganagic, Dijkgraaf, Klemm, Mariño and Vafa, expressing the topological vertex as a Bogoliubov transform of the fermionic vacuum. In our proof we introduce a boson-fermionic field assignment which generalizes the well-known boson-fermion correspondence. The proof also works for the generalization to the framed topological vertex made by Deng and Zhou. As a consequence, partition functions of toric Calabi-Yau threefolds are related to tau-functions of multi-component KP hierarchy.

Abstract:In this paper, we provide a much simplified proof of the main result in [Lin, Xu, Zhang, arXiv:1302.5877] concerning the global existence and uniqueness of smooth solutions to the Cauchy problem for a 2D incompressible viscous and non-resistive MHD system under the assumption that the initial data are close to some equilibrium states. Beside the classical energy method, the interpolating inequalities and the algebraic structure of the equations coming from the incompressibility of the fluid are crucial in our arguments. We combine the energy estimates with the L^∞ estimates for time slices to deduce the key L^1 in time estimates. The latter is responsible for the global in time existence.

Abstract:In this paper we aim to construct a very weak solution to the steady two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations which is affected by an external force induced by a point vortex on the unit disk. Such a solution is also the form of Prandtl-Batchelor type, i.e. the vorticity in the limit of vanishing viscosity is constant in an inner region separated from the boundary layer. Multi-scale asymptotic analysis which will capture well the singular behavior of the solution is used to construct higher order approximate solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations firstly, and then stability analysis is performed for the error system, finally the existence of Prandtl-Batchelor flows with a point vortex on a disk with the wall velocity slightly different from the rigid-rotation is proved. To overcome the singularity at the origin from the point vortex and strong singular behaviors near the boundary from viscous flow, we introduce a coordinate transformation which converts a bounded singularity problem to an unbounded one, and use a new decomposition for the error and perform basic energy estimate and positivity estimate for each part of the decomposition separately. The equation in the vorticity form shall be used to deal with $L^\infty$ estimate of the vorticity error.

Abstract:Functional integral representations for solutions of the motion equations for wall-bounded incompressible viscous flows, expressed (implicitly) in terms of distributions of solutions to stochastic differential equations of McKean-Vlasov type, are established by using a perturbation technique. These representations are used to obtain exact random vortex dynamics for wall-bounded viscous flows. Numerical schemes therefore are proposed and the convergence of the numerical schemes for random vortex dynamics with an additional force term is established. Several numerical experiments are carried out for demonstrating the motion of a viscous flow within a thin layer next to the fluid boundary.
