Abstract:Given a compact closed four-dimensional smooth Riemannian manifold, we prove existence of extremal functions for Moser-Trudinger type inequality. The method used is blow-up analysis combined with capacity techniques.

We will prove in this paper that the sup ∫_M udV_g = 0,∫_M | ∇ u|^n dV_g = 1 ^∫_M e^α _n | u |n/n - 1 dV_g , sup ∫_M ( | ∇ u|^n + | u |^n )dV_g = 1 ^∫_M e^α _n | u |n/n - 1 dV_g , and sup u| _∂ N = 0,.∫_M | ∇ u|dV_g_N = 1 ^∫_N e^α _n | u |n/n - 1 dV_g_N , can be attained. Our proof uses the blow-up analysis.

Abstract:Sharp Moser-Trudinger type inequalities and their extremal functions play an important role in studying nonlinear PDEs and geometry. We establish a new sharp Moser-Trudinger type inequality in the upper half space in two dimensions and prove the existence of extremal functions for a sharp Moser-Trudinger type inequality under dynamic changes in the unit ball.

In this paper, we use the method of blowing up analysis to prove several Moser-Trudinger type inequalities for vector bundle over (M,g). Abstract:Given a general complete Riemannian manifold $M$, we introduce the concept of "local Moser-Trudinger inequality on $W^{1,n}(M)$". We show how the validity of the Moser-Trudinger inequality can be extended from a local to a global scale under additional assumptions: either by assuming the validity of the Poincaré inequality, or by imposing a stronger norm condition. We apply these results to Hadamard manifolds. The technique is general enough to be applicable also in sub-Riemannian settings, such as the Heisenberg group.

Abstract:In this paper we study Moser–Trudinger type inequalities for some nonlocal energy functionals in presence of a logarithmic convolution potential, when the domain is a ball. In particular, we perform a blow-up analysis to prove existence of extremal functions in the borderline case of critical growth. Using this, we sharpen the results in [S. Cingolani and T. Weth J. London Math. Soc. 105 (2022) 1897–1935] under critical growth assumptions and give answers to some questions left open in [S. Cingolani and T. Weth J. London Math. Soc. 105 (2022) 1897–1935].

Abstract:In this note, we will prove an inequality for almost plurisubharmonic functions on any Kahler-Einstein manifolds with positive scalar curvature. Abstract:Following Gromov, a Riemannian manifold is called area-extremal if any modification that increases scalar curvature must decrease the area of some tangent 2-plane. We prove that large classes of compact 4-manifolds, with or without boundary, with nonnegative sectional curvature are area-extremal. We also show that all regions of positive sectional curvature on 4-manifolds are locally area-extremal. These results are obtained analyzing sections in the kernel of a twisted Dirac operator constructed from pairs of metrics, and using the Finsler--Thorpe trick for sectional curvature bounds in dimension 4.

Abstract:This is a continuation of our previous work ( Ann. Sc. Norm. Super. Pisa Cl. Sci. , 20 , 1295–1324, 2020). Let (Σ, g ) be a closed Riemann surface, where the metric g has conical singularities at finite points. Suppose G is a group whose elements are isometries acting on (Σ, g ). Trudinger–Moser inequalities involving G are established via the method of blow-up analysis, and the corresponding extremals are also obtained. This extends previous results of Chen ( Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. , 1990), Iula–Manicini ( Nonlinear Anal. , 2017), and the authors (2020).

Abstract:In a seminal paper "Volumen und Oberfläche" (1903), Minkowski introduced the basic notion of mixed volumes and the corresponding inequalities that lie at the heart of convex geometry. The fundamental importance of characterizing the extremals of these inequalities was already emphasized by Minkowski himself, but has to date only been resolved in special cases. In this paper, we completely settle the extremals of Minkowski's quadratic inequality, confirming a conjecture of R. Schneider. Our proof is based on the representation of mixed volumes of arbitrary convex bodies as Dirichlet forms associated to certain highly degenerate elliptic operators. A key ingredient of the proof is a quantitative rigidity property associated to these operators.

Abstract:Let R be a hyperbolic Riemann surface. Suppose the Teichmuller space T(R) of R is infinite-dimensional. Let mu be an extremal Beltrami coefficient on R and let [mu] be the point in T(R). In this note, it is shown that if mu is not uniquely extremal, then there exists an extremal Beltrarni coefficient v in [mu] with non-constant modulus. As an application, it follows, as is well known, that there exist infinitely many geodesics between [mu] and the base point [0] in T(R) if mu is non-uniquely extremal.

Abstract:We construct and study extremal functions, which are defined by distance functions of convex bodies. Such functions take values in the moduli spaces of geometric objects associated with these convex bodies. Examples of such functions are the homogeneous arithmetic minimum of a function in a lattice, the Hermite constant, and the critical determinant of a body. We define and investigate extremal functions that yield optimal packings of bodies, the best values of covering constants, and optimal solutions to Diophantine approximation problems.

Abstract:In this paper, without assuming that manifolds are spin, we prove that if a compact orientable, and connected Riemannian manifold $(M^{n},g)$ with scalar curvature $R_{g}\geq 6$ admits a non-zero degree and $1$-Lipschitz map to $(\mathbb{S}^{3}\times \mathbb{T}^{n-3},g_{\mathbb{S}^{3}}+g_{\mathbb{T}^{n-3}})$, for $4\leq n\leq 7$, then $(M^{n},g)$ is locally isometric to $\mathbb{S}^{3}\times\mathbb{T}^{n-3}$. Similar results are established for noncompact cases as $(\mathbb{S}^{3}\times \mathbb{R}^{n-3},g_{\mathbb{S}^{3}}+g_{\mathbb{R}^{n-3}})$ being model spaces (see Theorem \ref{noncompactrigidity1}, Theorem \ref{noncompactrigidity2}, Theorem \ref{noncompactrigidity3}, Theorem \ref{noncompactrigidity4}). We observe that the results differ significantly when $n=4$ compared to $n\geq 5$. Our results imply that the $\epsilon$-gap length extremality of the standard $\mathbb{S}^3$ is stable under the Riemannian product with $\mathbb{R}^m$, $1\leq m\leq 4$ (see $D_{3}$. Question in Gromov's paper \cite{Gromov2017}, p.153).

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the Moser-Trudinger inequality on smooth riemanniansurfaces. We establish that the constants involved can be chosen to depend on only 3parameters, which are the systole, isoperimetric constant and curvature of the surface. Wehave two analogous statements, considering respectively infinite-volume surfaces and closedsurfaces. As an application, we show that there are sequences of coverings of a hyperbolicclosed surface which admit a uniform Moser-Trudinger inequality.
