Abstract:We generalize the theory of critical groups from graphs to simplicial complexes. Specifically, given a simplicial complex, we define a family of abelian groups in terms of combinatorial Laplacian operators, generalizing the construction of the critical group of a graph. We show how to realize these critical groups explicitly as cokernels of reduced Laplacians, and prove that they are finite, with orders given by weighted enumerators of simplicial spanning trees. We describe how the critical groups of a complex represent flow along its faces, and sketch another potential interpretation as analogues of Chow groups.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a torsion-free, finitely-generated, nilpotent and metabelian group. In this work we show that $G$ embeds into the group of orientation preserving $C^{1+\alpha}$-diffeomorphisms of the compact interval, for all $\alpha< 1/k$ where $k$ is the torsion-free rank of $G/A$ and $A$ is a maximal abelian subgroup. We show that in many situations the corresponding $1/k$ is critical in the sense that there is no embedding of $G$ with higher regularity. A particularly nice family where this happens, is the family of $(2n+1)$-dimensional Heisenberg groups, for which we can show that the critical regularity equals $1+1/n$.

The influence of the nilpotentlizers on group structur

Abstract:For a finite group $G$ and an element $x\in G$, the subset $$ nil_G(x)=\{y\in G \mid <x,y>~~ is ~~ nilpotent\}$$ is called nilpotentizer of $x$ in $G$. In this paper, we give two solvabilty criteria for a finite group by the structure and the size of nilpotentizer of an element on finite group. In fact, we show that if there exists an element $x$ of $G$ such that $nil_G(x)$ generates a maximal subgroup of $G$ and the simple commutator of weight $2 ~~or ~~3$ of elements of $nil_G(x)$ is equal to $1$ or $|nil_G(x)|= p^n$, where $p$ is prime and $n=1, 2$. Then $G$ is a solvable group.

Abstract:An arithmetical structure on a finite, connected graph without loops is an assignment of positive integers to the vertices that satisfies certain conditions. Associated to each of these is a finite abelian group known as its critical group. We show how to determine the critical group of an arithmetical structure on a star graph or complete graph in terms of the entries of the arithmetical structure. We use this to investigate which finite abelian groups can occur as critical groups of arithmetical structures on these graphs.

Abstract:Let G be a finite group, $\sigma =\{\sigma _{i}|i\in I\}$ be a partition of the set of all primes $\mathbb {P}$ and $\sigma (G)=\{\sigma _i|\sigma _i\cap \pi (G)\ne \emptyset \}$. G is said to be $\sigma $-primary if $|\sigma (G)|\le 1$; $\sigma $-soluble if every chief factor of G is $\sigma $-primary. A set $\mathcal {H}$ of subgroups of G is said to be a complete Hall $\sigma $-set of G if every non-identity member of $\mathcal {H}$ is a Hall $\sigma _i$-subgroup of G for some $\sigma _i$ and $\mathcal {H}$ contains exactly one Hall $\sigma _i$-subgroup for every $\sigma _i\in \sigma (G)$. G is said to be $\sigma $-full if G possesses a complete Hall $\sigma $-set; $\sigma $-nilpotent if G has a complete Hall $\sigma $-set $\mathcal {H}=\{H_1,H_2,\ldots ,H_t\}$ such that $G=H_1\times H_2\times \cdots \times H_t$; $\mathfrak {N}_{\sigma }$-critical (resp. $\mathfrak {N}$-critical) if G is not $\sigma $-nilpotent (resp. nilpotent) but all proper subgroups of G are $\sigma $-nilpotent (resp. nilpotent). An $\mathfrak {N}$-critical group is also called a Schmidt group. In this paper, we first prove that every $\mathfrak {N}_{\sigma }$-critical group is $\sigma $-soluble. This result gives a positive answer to a recent open problem of Skiba. We also prove that $\mathfrak {N}_{\sigma }$-critical groups are also Schmidt groups and so the structure of $\mathfrak {N}_{\sigma }$-critical groups is obtained.

Abstract:We define and investigate the property of being `exponent-critical' for a finite group. A finite group is said to be exponent-critical if its exponent is not the least common multiple of the exponents of its proper non-abelian subgroups. We explore properties of exponent-critical groups and give a characterization of such groups. This characterization generalises a classical result of Miller and Moreno on minimal non-abelian groups; interesting families of $p$-groups appear.

Abstract:Let G be a finite group, σ ={σ _i|i∈ I} be a partition of the set of all primes ℙ and σ (G)={σ _i|σ _i∩π (G)∅} . G is said to be σ - primary if |σ (G)|≤ 1 ; σ - soluble if every chief factor of G is σ -primary. Abstract:In this paper, we review some recent works on sharp fractional inequalities on nilpotent Lie groups, studying their sharp constants, extremizers, stability and other improvements. We also prove a new sharp subcritical inequality in Section sub . The conformal symmetry, compactness, spectral estimates and flow methods are discussed. We remark that a positivity-type restriction on the singular exponent is required in cases for groups with high dimensional centres, which brings extra difficulty.

Abstract:subgroup 𝒩_σ(G) of a finite group G is the σ -nilpotent norm of G if 𝒩_σ(G) is the intersection of the normalizers of the σ -nilpotent residuals of all subgroups of G . Let 𝒩_σ^0(G) = 1 and define 𝒩_σ^i+1(G)/𝒩_σ^i(G) = 𝒩_σ(G/𝒩_σ^i(G)) for i= 0, 1, 2, ... . By 𝒩_σ^∞(G) denote the terminal term of the ascending series and say that 𝒩_σ^∞(G) is the σ -nilpotent hypernorm of G . We study the influence of the σ -nilpotent norm and σ -nilpotent hypernorm of G on the structure of a finite group G . In particular, we proved that G = 𝒩_σ^∞(G) if and only if G^𝔑_σ is nilpotent, where G^𝔑_σ is the σ -nilpotent residual of G , that is, the intersection of all normal subgroups N of G with σ -nilpotent quotient G / N .

Abstract:Let $A$ be a non-metacyclic finite group. Suppose that $A$ acts coprimely on a finite group $G$ in such a manner that $C_G(a)$ is nilpotent for any $a\in A^{\#}$. In the present paper we investigate some conditions on $A$ which imply that $G$ is nilpotent with ``bounded'' nilpotency class. More precisely, we generalize known results on action of $q$-groups and Frobenius groups, where $q$ is a prime.

Abstract:Let G be a finite group and sigma = {sigma(i)\i is an element of I} be a partition of the set of all primes P. A chief factor H/K of C is said to sigma-central (in G) if the semidirect product (H/K) (sic) (G/C-G (H/K)) is a sigma(i)-group for some i is an element of I. The group G is said to be sigma-nilpotent if either G = 1 or every chief factor of G is sigma-central. Let Gn(sigma) be the sigma-nilpotent residual of G, that is, the intersection of all normal subgroups N of G with sigma-nilpotent quotient G/N. Then we say that G is sigma-supersoluble if each chief factor of G below Gn(sigma) is cyclic. Abstract:The aim of this paper is to determine the structure and to establish the isomorphic invariant of the finitely generated nilpotent group G of infinite cyclic commutator subgroup. Using the structure and invariant of the group which is the central extension of a cyclic group by a free abelian group of finite rank of infinite cyclic center, we provide a decomposition of G as the product of a generalized extraspecial ℤ-group and its center. By using techniques of lifting isomorphisms of abelian groups and equivalent normal form of the generalized extraspecial ℤ-groups, we finally obtain the structure and invariants of the group G.
On the Nilpotent Graph of a finite Group

Abstract:If G is a non-nilpotent group and nil(G) = {g \in G : <g, h> is nilpotent for all h\in G}, the nilpotent graph of G is the graph with set of vertices G-nil(G) in which two distinct vertices are related if they generate a nilpotent subgroup of G. Several properties of the nilpotent graph associated with a finite non-nilpotent group G are studied in this work. Lower bounds for the clique number and the number of connected components of the nilpotent graph of G are presented in terms of the size of its Fitting subgroup and the number of its strongly self-centralizing subgroups, respectively. It is proved the nilpotent graph of the symmetric group of degree n is disconnected if and only if n or n-1 is a prime number, and no finite non-nilpotent group has a self-complementary nilpotent graph. For the dihedral group Dn, it is determined the number of connected components of its nilpotent graph is one more than n when n is odd; or one more than the 2'-part of n when n is even. In addition, a formula for the number of connected components of the nilpotent graph of PSL(2,q), where q is a prime power, is provided. Finally, necessary and sufficient conditions for specific subsets of a group, containing connected components of its nilpotent graph, to contain one of its Sylow p-subgroups are studied; and it is shown the nilpotent graph of a finite non-nilpotent group G with nil(G) of even order is non-Eulerian.

Abstract:The critical group of a connected graph is closely related to the graph Laplacian, and is of high research value in combinatorics, algebraic geometry, statistical physics, and several other areas of mathematics. In this paper, we study the k-partite graphs and introduce an algorithm to get the structure of their critical groups by calculating the Smith normal forms of their graph Laplacians. When k is from 2 to 6, we characterize the structure of the critical groups completely, which can generalize the results of the complete bipartite graphs.
