Abstract:In this paper, we establish the theory of nilpotent hypergroups and study some properties of nilpotent hypergroups and provided some structural characterizations of nilpotent hypergroups.

Abstract:A subgroup $$\mathcal {N}_{\sigma }(G)$$ of a finite group G is the $$\sigma $$ -nilpotent norm of G if $$\mathcal {N}_{\sigma }(G)$$ is the intersection of the normalizers of the $$\sigma $$ -nilpotent residuals of all subgroups of G. Let $$\mathcal {N}_{\sigma }^{0}(G) = 1$$ and define $$\mathcal {N}_{\sigma }^{i+1}(G)/\mathcal {N}_{\sigma }^{i}(G) = \mathcal {N}_{\sigma }(G/\mathcal {N}_{\sigma }^{i}(G))$$ for $$i= 0, 1, 2, ...$$ . By $$\mathcal {N}_{\sigma }^{\infty }(G)$$ denote the terminal term of the ascending series and say that $$\mathcal {N}_{\sigma }^{\infty }(G)$$ is the $$\sigma $$ -nilpotent hypernorm of G. We study the influence of the $$\sigma $$ -nilpotent norm and $$\sigma $$ -nilpotent hypernorm of G on the structure of a finite group G. In particular, we proved that $$G = \mathcal {N}_{\sigma }^{\infty }(G)$$ if and only if $$G^{\mathfrak {N}_{\sigma }}$$ is nilpotent, where $$G^{\mathfrak {N}_{\sigma }}$$ is the $$\sigma $$ -nilpotent residual of G, that is, the intersection of all normal subgroups N of G with $$\sigma $$ -nilpotent quotient G/N.

Abstract:Let $\Gamma_G$ denote a graph associated with a group $G$. A compelling question about finite groups asks whether or not a finite group $H$ must be nilpotent provided $\Gamma_H$ is isomorphic to $\Gamma_G$ for a finite nilpotent group $G$. In the present work we analyze the problem for different graphs that one can associate with a finite group, both reporting on existing answers and contributing to new ones.

Abstract:If G is a non-nilpotent group and nil(G) = {g \in G : <g, h> is nilpotent for all h\in G}, the nilpotent graph of G is the graph with set of vertices G-nil(G) in which two distinct vertices are related if they generate a nilpotent subgroup of G. Several properties of the nilpotent graph associated with a finite non-nilpotent group G are studied in this work. Lower bounds for the clique number and the number of connected components of the nilpotent graph of G are presented in terms of the size of its Fitting subgroup and the number of its strongly self-centralizing subgroups, respectively. It is proved the nilpotent graph of the symmetric group of degree n is disconnected if and only if n or n-1 is a prime number, and no finite non-nilpotent group has a self-complementary nilpotent graph. For the dihedral group Dn, it is determined the number of connected components of its nilpotent graph is one more than n when n is odd; or one more than the 2'-part of n when n is even. In addition, a formula for the number of connected components of the nilpotent graph of PSL(2,q), where q is a prime power, is provided. Finally, necessary and sufficient conditions for specific subsets of a group, containing connected components of its nilpotent graph, to contain one of its Sylow p-subgroups are studied; and it is shown the nilpotent graph of a finite non-nilpotent group G with nil(G) of even order is non-Eulerian.

Abstract:Let G be a finite group and p be a prime. We define to be the intersection of the normalizers of the p -nilpotent residuals of all two-generator subgroups of G whose p -nilpotent residuals are nilpotent. We show that . Using the method in the present paper, we will be able to give an affirmative answer to an open problem in Shen et al. (Mediterr J Math 19:191, 2022), which also indicates that similar conclusions hold for many formations. It is also proved that if and only if every three-generator subgroup H of G satisfies . To this end, we introduce and investigate the IO - -groups, i.e., the groups G such that but each proper subgroup and each proper quotient of G equals its p -nilpotent norm. Moreover, new results in terms of the p -nilpotent norm and the p -nilpotent hypernorm are given.

Abstract:Given a class ℑ of finite groups, a subgroup H of a group G is called ℑ n - normal in G if there exists a normal subgroup T of G such that HT is a normal subgroup of G and ( H ∩ T ) H G / H G is contained in the ℑ-hypercenter Z ∞ ℑ ( G/H G ) of G/H G . We obtain some results about the ℑ n -normal subgroups and use them to study the structure of some groups.

Abstract:Let $mathbf G$ be a complex orthogonal or complex symplectic group, and let $G$ be a real form of $mathbf G$, namely $G$ is a real orthogonal group, a real symplectic group, a quaternionic orthogonal group, or a quaternionic symplectic group. For a fixed parity $mathbb pin mathbb Z/2mathbb Z$, we define a set $mathrm{Nil}^{mathbb p}_{mathbf G}(mathfrak g)$ of nilpotent $mathbf G$-orbits $mathfrak g$ (the Lie algebra of $mathbf G$). When $mathbb p$ is the parity of the dimension of the standard module of $mathbf G$, this is the set of the stably trivial special nilpotent orbits, which includes all rigid special nilpotent orbits. For each $mathcal O in mathrm{Nil}^{mathbb p}_{mathbf G}(mathfrak g)$, we construct all unipotent representations of $G$ (or its metaplectic cover when $G$ is a real symplectic group and $mathbb p$ is odd) attached to $mathcal O$ via the method of theta lifting and show particular that they are unitary.

Abstract:Let R be a ring with 1, I be a nilpotent subring of R (there exists a natural number n, such that I n = 0), and I be generated by {x j |j ∈ J} as ring. Write U = 1 + I, and it is a nilpotent group with class ⩽ n−1. Let G be the subgroup of U which is generated by {1+x j |j ∈ J}. Abstract:If $G$ is a nilpotent group with a balanced presentation and $G\not\cong\mathbb{Z}^3$ then $\beta_1(G;\mathbb{Q})\leq2$ \cite{Hi22}. We show that if such a group $G$ has an abelian normal subgroup $A$ such that $G/A\cong\mathbb{Z}^2$ then $G$ is torsion-free and has Hirsch length $h(G)\leq4$. On the other hand, if $\beta_1(G;\mathbb{Q})=1$ and $G$ has an abelian normal subgroup $A$ such that $G/A\cong\mathbb{Z}$ then $G\cong\mathbb{Z}/m\mathbb{Z}\rtimes_n\mathbb{Z}$, for some $m,n\not=0$ such that $m$ divides a power of $n-1$.

Abstract:For a finite group $G$ and an element $x\in G$, the subset $$ nil_G(x)=\{y\in G \mid <x,y>~~ is ~~ nilpotent\}$$ is called nilpotentizer of $x$ in $G$. In this paper, we give two solvabilty criteria for a finite group by the structure and the size of nilpotentizer of an element on finite group. In fact, we show that if there exists an element $x$ of $G$ such that $nil_G(x)$ generates a maximal subgroup of $G$ and the simple commutator of weight $2 ~~or ~~3$ of elements of $nil_G(x)$ is equal to $1$ or $|nil_G(x)|= p^n$, where $p$ is prime and $n=1, 2$. Then $G$ is a solvable group.

Abstract:Let $A$ be a non-metacyclic finite group. Suppose that $A$ acts coprimely on a finite group $G$ in such a manner that $C_G(a)$ is nilpotent for any $a\in A^{\#}$. In the present paper we investigate some conditions on $A$ which imply that $G$ is nilpotent with ``bounded'' nilpotency class. More precisely, we generalize known results on action of $q$-groups and Frobenius groups, where $q$ is a prime.

Abstract:In this work we discuss whether the non-commuting graph of a finite group can determine its nilpotency. More precisely, Abdollahi, Akbari and Maimani conjectured that if $G$ and $H$ are finite groups with isomorphic non-commuting graphs and $G$ is nilpotent, then $H$ must be nilpotent as well (Conjecture 2). We pose a new conjecture (Conjecture 3) that, together with the assumption $|Z(G)|\geq|Z(H)|$, implies Conjecture 2 and we prove it for groups in which all centralizers of non-central elements are abelian.

Abstract:Let G be a nilpotent π-group of finite rank,α and β be two automorphisms of G.Suppose that 1 = ζ0G < ζ1G < ··· < ζcG = G is the upper central series of G,and αi and βi are the automorphisms of ζiG/ζi-1G induced by α and β,respectively.If Im(αiβi-βiαi) is either a cyclic group or T ♁ D,where T is a cyclic group and D is a divisible group of rank 1,then <α,β> is NAF-.In particular,if α and β are two π'-automorphisms of G,then(i) in the case Im(αiβi-βiαi) is cyclic,<α,β> is an extension of a finite nilpotent π-group by a finite abelian π'-group;(ii) in the case Im(αiβi-βiαi) is either a cyclic group or T ♁ D,<α,β> is a residually finite π ∪ π'-group and is a(finitely-generated torsion-free nilpotent group)by-(finite nilpotent π-group)-by-(finite abelian π'-group).In addition,we investigate the dual problem for the lower central series of G and obtain the dual results.

Abstract:It is well known that if $G$ is a group and $H$ is a normal subgroup of $G$ of finite index $k$, then $x^k \in H$ for every $x \in G$. We examine finite groups $G$ with the property that $x^k \in H$ for every subgroup $H$ of $G$, where $k$ is the index of $H$ in $G$. We prove that a finite group $G$ satisfies this property if and only if $G$ is nilpotent.

Abstract:We prove a few results about non-nilpotent graphs of symmetric groups $S_n$ -- namely that they have a Hamiltonian cycle and they satisfy a conjecture of Nongsiang and Saikia. The latter is likewise proven for alternating groups $A_n$. We also show that the class of non-nilpotent graphs does not have any ''local'' properties, ie. for every simple graph $X$ there is a group $G$, such that its non-nilpotent graph has $X$ as an induced subgraph.
