Two Letters about the Problem of Formational Noumenon

Abstract:Form is a crux in western aesthetics and literature and art theory,and also an important field in China's aethetics as well as literature and art studies.In order to promote the research on the problem,'Academic Research'Journal published professor Su Hongbin's paper'How could Form Become Noumenon?'on No.10 last year.The paper considered that,there are two basic formational concepts in western art and aethetics.One is a material-form model,which takes artistic works as a unity of form and material,and the form as the noumenon of works.Another is a content-form model,which considers that the form is phenomenon determined by the content of works.Western arts have thrown over the content-form model and adopted the pure material-form model,so that have approached to formalism and abstractionism.Since the paper was published,it has caused a vast attention in the academic field.And recently,Mr.Wang Yuanxiang,a famous Chinese theoretician of literature and art theory wrote a letter to discuss the concerned problems with Su Hongbin.We would like to have it published here for promoting the studies and better comprehension of the form.
