Abstract:In this paper, we carefully analyze the unitarity of the simplest Kazama–Suzuki model based on the noncompact group. The chiral ring structure in this N = 2 theory is clarified. In general, it is infinitely dimensional and innumerable. The primary chiral states belonging to the ring can be constructed by means of the direct products of the highest weight states of the coset SU(1,1)/U(1) and the scalar representation of U(1) for the fermions. The primary chird and anti-chiral states live individually in the positive discrete series D+ and negative discrete series D- of SU(1,1), respectively. With appropriate restrictions, this theory can be regarded as one at the fixed point of a Landau–Ginzburg theory, in which the superpotential is given by S12 in the fourteen exceptional singularities.

Abstract:Let $mathbf G$ be a complex orthogonal or complex symplectic group, and let $G$ be a real form of $mathbf G$, namely $G$ is a real orthogonal group, a real symplectic group, a quaternionic orthogonal group, or a quaternionic symplectic group. For a fixed parity $mathbb pin mathbb Z/2mathbb Z$, we define a set $mathrm{Nil}^{mathbb p}_{mathbf G}(mathfrak g)$ of nilpotent $mathbf G$-orbits $mathfrak g$ (the Lie algebra of $mathbf G$). When $mathbb p$ is the parity of the dimension of the standard module of $mathbf G$, this is the set of the stably trivial special nilpotent orbits, which includes all rigid special nilpotent orbits. For each $mathcal O in mathrm{Nil}^{mathbb p}_{mathbf G}(mathfrak g)$, we construct all unipotent representations of $G$ (or its metaplectic cover when $G$ is a real symplectic group and $mathbb p$ is odd) attached to $mathcal O$ via the method of theta lifting and show particular that they are unitary.

Abstract:Let G be one of the classical Lie groups GL(n+1)(R), GL(n+1)(C), U(p, q + 1), O(p, q + 1), On+1(C), SO(p, q + 1), SOn+1(C), and let G' be respectively the subgroup GL(n)(R), GL(n)(C), U(p, q), O(p, q), O-n(C), SO(p, q), SO (C), embedded in G in the standard way. We show that every irreducible Casselman-Wallach representation of G' occurs with multiplicity at most one in every irreducible Casselman-Wallach representation of G. Abstract:Let G be one of the classical groups GL(n), U(n), O(n) or Sp(2n), over a nonarchimedean local field of characteristic zero. It is well known that the contragredient of an irreducible admissible smooth representation of G is isomorphic to a twist of it by an automorphism of G. We prove that similar results hold for double covers of G that occur in the study of local theta correspondences.

Abstract:We show that the 𝒩 =1 supersymmetric SU( N ) gauge theory with 2 N flavors without superpotential has not only the standard Seiberg dual description but also another dual description involving two copies of the so-called T N theory. This is a natural generalization to N > 2 of a dual description of SU(2) gauge theory with 4 flavors found by Csaki, Schmaltz, Skiba and Terning. We also study dualities of other 𝒩 =1 SCFTs involving copies of T N theories. Our duality is the basic operation from which a recently-found web of 𝒩 =1 dualities obtained by compactifying M5-branes on Riemann surfaces can be derived field-theoretically.

Abstract:We investigate the general conditions for an all-orders finite theory by redefining the coupling constants such that both the gauge-coupling $\ensuremath{\beta}$ function and the anomalous dimensions of the gauge superfield and chiral superfields vanish. These explicit expressions for the conditions of all-orders finiteness involve solutions of an infinite number of equations. Both a solving process and a criterion for the existence of the solutions of the equations are given.
T-dualities in gauged linear sigma models

Abstract:We describe non-Abelian T-dualities for $\mathcal{N} = 2$ two dimensional gauged linear sigma model (GLSM). We start with the case of left and right $(2, 2)$ supersymmetry (SUSY), $U(1)$ gauge group, and global non-Abelian symmetries. Our analysis applies to the specialization of the GLSM with the global group $SU(2)\times SU(2)$, whose original model is the resolved conifold. We analyze the dual model and compute the periods on the dual geometry, matching the effective potential for the $U(1)$ gauge field, and discuss the coincident singularity at the conifold point. We further present the non-Abelian T-dualization of models with $(0,2)$ SUSY, analyzing the case of global symmetry $SU(2)$. In this case the full non-Abelian duality can be solved. The dual geometries with and without non-perturbative corrections to the superpotential coincide. The structure of the dual non-perturbative corrections employed are determined based on symmetry arguments. The non-Abelian T-dualities reviewed here lead to potential new symmetries between physical theories.

Abstract:We study the smooth $2$-group structure arising in the presence of quantum field theory with one-form symmetry. We acquire $2$-group structures obtained by a central extension of the zero-form symmetry by the one-form symmetry. We determine that the existence of a $2$-group structure is guaranteed by Chern--Simons levels. We further verify how we will be able to provide a fix to the current $2$-group problems by using the bibundle model. We outline the principal $2$-connection theory with respect to such $2$-group and compare it with the ansatz obtained from the Green--Schwarz mechanism. We further propose the existence of smooth $\infty$-group symmetries in quantum field theory.

Abstract:We describe an $N=2$ supersymmetric Poisson vertex algebra structure of $N=1$ (resp. $N=0$) classical $W$-algebra associated with $\mathfrak{sl}(n+1|n)$ and the odd (resp. even) principal nilpotent element. This $N=2$ supersymmetric structure is connected to the principal $\mathfrak{sl}(2|1)$-embedding in $\mathfrak{sl}(n+1|n)$ superalgebras, which are the only basic Lie superalgebras that admit such a principal embedding.

Elliptic Genera and N=2 Superconformal Field Theory

Abstract:Recently Witten proposed to consider elliptic genus in $N=2$ superconformal field theory to understand the relation between $N=2$ minimal models and Landau-Ginzburg theories. In this paper we first discuss the basic properties satisfied by elliptic genera in $N=2$ theories. These properties are confirmed by some fundamental class of examples. Then we introduce a generic procedure to compute the elliptic genera of a particular class of orbifold theories, {\it i.e.\/} the ones orbifoldized by $e^{2\pi iJ_0}$ in the Neveu-Schwarz sector. This enables us to calculate the elliptic genera for Landau-Ginzburg orbifolds. When the Landau-Ginzburg orbifolds allow an interpretation as target manifolds with $SU(N)$ holonomy we can compare the expressions with the ones obtained by orbifoldizing tensor products of $N=2$ minimal models. We also give sigma model expressions of the elliptic genera for manifolds of $SU(N)$ holonomy.

Abstract:We study the $N=2$ supersymmetric $E_6$ models on the 6-dimensional space-time where the supersymmetry and gauge symmetry can be broken by the discrete symmetry. On the space-time $M^4\times S^1/(Z_2\times Z_2') \times S^1/(Z_2\times Z_2')$, for the zero modes, we obtain the 4-dimensional $N=1$ supersymmetric models with gauge groups $SU(3)\times SU(2) \times SU(2) \times U(1)^2$, $SU(4)\times SU(2) \times SU(2) \times U(1)$, and $SU(3)\times SU(2) \times U(1)^3$ with one extra pair of Higgs doublets from the vector multiplet. In addition, considering that the extra space manifold is the annulus $A^2$ and disc $D^2$, we list all the constraints on constructing the 4-dimensional $N=1$ supersymmetric $SU(3)\times SU(2) \times U(1)^3$ models for the zero modes, and give the simplest model with $Z_9$ symmetry. We also comment on the extra gauge symmetry breaking and its generalization.

Abstract:A bstract We extend the framework of modular invariant supersymmetric theories to encompass invariance under more general discrete groups Γ, that allow the presence of several moduli and make connection with the theory of automorphic forms. Moduli span a coset space G / K , where G is a Lie group and K is a compact subgroup of G , modded out by Γ. For a general choice of G , K , Γ and a generic matter content, we explicitly construct a minimal Kähler potential and a general superpotential, for both rigid and local $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 1 supersymmetric theories. We also specialize our construction to the case G = Sp(2 g, R), K = U( g ) and Γ = Sp(2 g, Z), whose automorphic forms are Siegel modular forms. We show how our general theory can be consistently restricted to multi-dimensional regions of the moduli space enjoying residual symmetries. After choosing g = 2, we present several examples of models for lepton and quark masses where Yukawa couplings are Siegel modular forms of level 2.

Abstract:For semisimple groups, possibly multiplied by U(1)'s, the number of Yang-Mills gauge fields is equal to the number of generators of the group. In this paper, it is shown that, for non-semisimple groups, the number of Yang-Mills fields can be larger. These additional Yang-Mills fields are not irrelevant because they appear in the gauge transformations of the original Yang-Mills fields. Such non-semisimple Yang-Mills theories may lead to physical consequences worth studying. The non-semisimple group with only two generators that do not commute is studied in detail.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate two types of U(1)-gauge field theories on G_2-manifolds. One is the U(1)-Yang-Mills theory which admits the classical instanton solutions, we show that G_2-manifolds emerge from the anti-self-dual U(1) instantons, which is an analogy of Yang's result for Calabi-Yau manifolds. The other one is the higher-order U(1)-Chern-Simons theory as a generalization of Kähler-Chern-Simons theory, by suitable choice of gauge and regularization technique, we calculate the partition function under semiclassical approximation.
