Abstract:With the dispute caused by “compasses”,the author of this paper reviews the two contrastive theories of difference or combination of Jiedai and Jieyu,and three divergent views in the theory of difference of Jiedai and Jieyu.Through two conditions:the related relationship and replacement,the author analyzes Jiedai and Jieyu.

Abstract:Connected to the modern knowledge formation and institutional changes in the late Qing period, the revival of the Guwen Classics and the subsequent disputes between Guwen Classics and Jinwen Classics have always been academic focuses. Since the late Qing dynasty, ”Shu Learning” as an important school of Jinwen Classics, has become a center of the Chinese traditional learning. ”Sichuan Academy of Traditional Chinese Learning”, established at the beginning of the Republic of China and gathering together many scholars, witnessed the disputes between Liao Ping and Liu Shipei, the cultural phenomenon in modern Chinese academic field. We believe that the examination and review of the event is helpful to depict the tendency of Shu Learning and the change of Liu Shipei's research, to outline the transformation of the Jinwen-Guwen Classics at the beginning of the Republic of China.
Contrastive Study of the Syntactic-Semantic Structures Between English-Chinese Middles

Abstract:This study focuses on the comparisons of the syntactic-semantic structures between English and Chinese middles from the perspectives of cognitive linguistics and linguistic typology.The main findings are:i)The relative syntactic position of the theme of a middle causes the cross-category harmony of its predicate-argument role.ii)The degree of topicalization of a Chinese middle is greater than that of an English middle.The semantic restriction,derived from the theme of an English middle on its predicate,is greater than that of a Chinese middle on its predicate.iii)There are more verbs that can be used in Chinese middles than those used in English.iv)The predicate-argument structures between English middles and Chinese middles are different.The former is composed of "Vi+Adv" and the semantic restrictions between the two are weaker.The latter is composed of "Aux+Vi" and the semantic restrictions between the two are greater.

Abstract:Chinese ways of dealing with seeming contradictions result in a dialectical or compromise approach—retaining basic elements of opposing perspectives by seeking a "middle way." On the other hand, European-American ways, deriving from a lay version of Aristotelian logic, result in a differentiation model that polarizes contradictory perspectives in an effort to determine which fact or position is correct. Five empirical studies showed that dialectical thinking is a form of folk wisdom in Chinese culture: Chinese participants preferred dialectical proverbs containing seeming contradictions more than did American participants. Chinese participants also preferred dialectical resolutions to social conflicts and preferred dialectical arguments over classical Western logical arguments. Furthermore, when 2 apparently contradictory propositions were presented, American participants polarized their views, and Chinese participants were moderately accepting of both propositions. Origins of these cultural differences and their implications for human reasoning in general are discussed.

Abstract:The theory of difference and the theory of contradiction are two methods of recognizing the world from different angles,they have their respective advantages.We can't replace one with the other,can't deal with a difference only in the view of contradiction and can't deal with a contradiction only in the view of difference.They are not on the same level of thinking,their relationship is very complicated.To study the problem of difference,we must break through traditional method of thinking of the theory of contradiction.

Abstract:Written expression plays an important role in students' English learning and has always been a weak part in English teaching. In daily learning, the differences between mother tongue and second language inevitably have an impact on students' writing. This paper aims to use contrastive analysis to explore the differences in lexical, syntactic, and discourse levels between English and Chinese writing, and proposes relevant teaching suggestions based on these, so as to improve students' English writing level and teachers' writing teaching level.

Abstract:As a lively and fertile topic of philosophical debate,definite description is subjected to the test of diverse philosophical theories and linguistic theories. After briefly reviewing three leading philosophers: Russell,Strawson and Donnellan,this study outlines the debate on attributive/referential use and on corresponding semantic-pragmatic interface issues,and explores the similarities and differences of the three schools in terms of semantic feature,contextual role and comprehension mechanism,thus unveils the turn of definitive description research from purely semantic research to semantic-pragmatic interface research. The study hopes to shed some light on the future research direction through reviewing this debate.

Abstract:Methods such as literature survey,interviews with experts and induction have been adopted to look at the different spelling forms of Tai Ji Quan appeared in books of foreign language editions published at home and abroad.This study suggests that it is appropriate to use the pinyin version Tai Ji Quan combined with Tai Chi Chuan,the spelling system of Wade-Giles that is better recognized in overseas countries.The study also suggests that whether the translation version of Tai Ji Quan is Wade-Giles of historical continuity or pinyin that announces Chinese local culture,they both feature a cultural integration of Chinese and Western cultures instead of conflicts rising from differences of the two cultures.The discussion and research on the translation of Tai Ji Quan aim to promote dialogue and exchange between Chinese and Western cultures,enabling both parts to learn from each other and jointly improve the cultural character of one's own.

Abstract:In the situation of gradual globalization, communication and interaction between various languages and conventions have become more frequent. The reflection of the difference between Chinese and Western thinking in linguistic and cultural diversity has become more apparent and essential. By doing this, people can have a further comprehension of the values, cognitive styles, and social habits behind different cultures and languages. In recent research, it has been shown that there are differences in language expression between China and the West, as well as differences in personal values and time. The author would like to research the differences between Chinese and Western ways of thinking in language, the differences in social etiquette and ways of interacting with the different values and cognitive styles. The purpose of the research is to assist people better cope with the challenges of cultural conflicts and exchanges and to foster mutual cooperation among different cultures. The research method used in this paper is the literature review, and the significance of the research is that it not only can help people better cope with and conform to this difference in thinking between China and the West, but it also improves the international communication capacity of future students.

Abstract:Contemporary Western literary theories display at least three kinds of exclusion: ideological, philosophical and focal. The present paper, through an examination of the major forms of exclusion, reveals that many theoretical schools are more or less complementary to each other, and that the development of literary theories can benefit from conscious exploitation of the complementary relations and from the co\|existence of various schools.

Abstract:Wang Yangming, as a representative figure of the new Confucianism in the Ming Dynasty, was deeply influenced by the intellectual trend of synthesizing the three teachings since the Tang and Song Dynasties and the complementarity of Confucianism and Daoism. He ingeniously integrated the cultural essences of Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism, forming the unique philosophy of Yangmings mind. The formation of this ideology not only originated from his distant family cultural tradition but also closely related to his unique life experiences. In Yangmings mind philosophy, the complementary features of Confucianism and Daoism are particularly evident. Based on the ontology of mind philosophy, Wang Yangming actively drew on Daoist speculative philosophy, daringly questioned Cheng-Zhu Neo-Confucianism, and developed Confucianism by incorporating Daoism. This had a profound impact on the intellectual and literary artistic creation of ancient Chinese literati. His thoughts reveal the rich results brought about by the exchange and collision of diverse cultures in the development of ancient Chinese philosophy. In the history of Chinese thought, it has unique philosophical connotations and research value. Exploring the complementary phenomenon of Confucianism and Daoism in Wang Yangmings thought contributes to a deeper study and understanding of his philosophy.

Abstract:Tang dynasty unprecedented development of China's legal system, especially the tang law of discussion on adjacent to all countries have a profound influence, the marriage system of the tang dynasty scattered in the tang law of discussion, the provisions of the marriage system is distinctive, the tang law of discussion on the construction of the relevant legal system has a profound influence, many laws can see the law of tang. The rules of the Japanese marriage system have both references and their own unique features. The marriage system can reflect the social reality at that time, and can more intuitively reflect the importance of the feudal society to the family inheritance. This paper will briefly introduce an overview of the marriage system in the Tang Dynasty and contemporary Japan, make a comparative study on the principles of the establishment of marriage, marriage, and analyze the influence of Tang law on the Japanese system of marriage. This paper discusses the reasons for the similarities and differences in the marriage systems and forms of the two countries, conducts a comparative study, comprehensively understands the whole picture of the ancient marriage system of the Tang and Japanese, and deeply analyzes the influence of the Tang law on the marriage system of Japan.

Abstract:The theory of Incommensurability in western analytic philosophy and science philosophy could be adopted as a theoretical reference for historic comparison, the latter of which must therefore follow the logic of general comparative study. The present paper makes explications of the general logic of comparative study. These include that (i) comparison is a unification of the principles of incommensurability and commensurability; (ii) the holistic commensurability should not be deduced from that of the local elements of the compared phenomena; (iii) the commensurability and incommensurability of the compared objects may change with the comparative scope or conceptual levels set out by the comparatist; (iv) there would be no knowledge without comparison; (v) the essence of things does not lie completely in the objective existence of the comparatist, it also depends on his theoretical construct; (vi) comparative study is meant to give rise to new identity, and differences in comparison are an origin of creative activities.

Abstract:This paper compares and analyzes two cultural phenomena, the "Japanese literature" of Kojin Karatani and the "Chinese thought" of Yusaburo Takeuchi, in order to explore their similarities and differences and the cultural backgrounds behind them. This paper first elaborates on the connotations and basic features of the concepts of "Japanese literature" and "Chinese thought" respectively proposed by Karatani and Takeuchi, and then carries out comparative analysis from three aspects of cultural contact, historical background and cultural value, exploring the similarities and differences between the two cultural phenomena and their significance for contemporary culture.

Abstract:Lu Ji's thought of wugan(sensation caused by seeing objects) originates from both the tradition of xiang(image) and wen(word) and the record of music in The Book of Rites in that on the one hand he falls into the tense relationship set by the tradition of xiang and wen,and on the other,in the field of literature he retains the thought of underlying in The Book of Rites.However,Liu Xie,another scholar,bases the concept of poem on an all-embracing theory of cosmology so as to eliminate the tense relationship.Liu argues that the relationship among xiang,wen and dao(emotion) does not decrease in value but is internally and externally consistent.As a result,Liu completely changes the function of the relationship between language and concept in that he shifts the centre of the thought of from wu(the objective world) into qing(the subjective world) and turns wugan into ganwu(sensing objects).
