Abstract:In this paper, we prove that on positively curved manifolds, the dual of H 1 is just BMO. We also obtain some norm characterizations of BMO and H 1, and atomic decomposition of H 1. They are generalizations of the corresponding theory on R n set up by C. Fefferman and E.M. Stein.

Abstract:In this paper, we resolve the planar dual Minkowski problem, proposed by Huang et al. (2016) [31] for all positive indices without any symmetry assumption. More precisely, given any q>0, and function f on S1, bounded by two positive constants, we show that there exists a convex body Ω in the plane, containing the origin in its interior, whose dual curvature measure C˜q(Ω,⋅) has density f. In particular, if f is smooth, then ∂Ω is also smooth.
Rational curves on Hermitian manifolds

Abstract: By using analytic method, we prove that there exist rational curves on compact Hermitian manifolds with positive holomorphic bisectional curvature. It confirms a question of S.-T. Yau. It is well-known that Mori proved in \cite{Mori79} that every compact complex manifold $N$ with $c_1(N)>0$ contains at least one rational curve. However, as a borderline example, we show that the standard Hopf surface $S^1\times S^3$ has a Hermitian metric with non-negative holomorphic bisectional curvature (in particular, $c_1(S^1\times S^3)\geq 0$), but it contains no rational curve.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the geometry of the moduli space of curves by using the curvature properties of direct image sheaves of vector bundles. We show that the moduli space $(M_g, \omega_{WP})$ of curves with genus $g>1$ has dual-Nakano negative and semi-Nakano-negative curvature, and in particular, it has non-positive Riemannain curvature operator and also non-positive complex sectional curvature. As applications, we prove that any submanifold in $M_g$ which is totally geodesic in $A_g$ with finite volume must be a ball quotient. We also show that, on a Kodaira (deformation) surface, there is no K\"ahler metric with non-positive Riemannain sectional curvature although it possesses K\"ahler metrics with strictly negative holomorphic bisectional curvature.

Abstract:In this note, we study the relation between the existence of a negatively curved complete hermitian metric on a complex manifold M and the product structure of (or contained in) M. We introduce the concept of geometric ranks and give a curvature characterization of the rank one manifolds, which generalizes the previous results of P. Yang and N. Mok (see below). In the proof, we used the old techniques of Yau's Schwartz lemma and Cheng-Yau's result on the existence of Kahler-Einstein metrics.

Abstract:In this article, we study Hermitian manifolds whose Bismut connection has parallel torsion, which will be called {\em Bismut torsion parallel manifolds,} or {\em BTP} manifolds for brevity. We obtain a necessary and sufficient condition characterizing BTP manifolds in terms of Bismut curvature tensor alone (Theorem 1.1). We also present examples and discuss some general properties for BTP manifolds, as well as give a classification result for non-balanced BTP threefolds (Theorem 1.16).

Abstract:Motivated by our previous work on Hodge-index type theorems, we give a form of mixed Hodge-Riemann bilinear relation by using the notion of m-positivity, whose proof is an adaptation of the works of Timorin (1998) and Dinh and Nguyên (2006). This mixed Hodge-Riemann bilinear relation holds with respect to mixed polarizations in which some satisfy particular positivity condition, but could be degenerate along some directions. In particular, it applies to fibrations of compact Kähler manifolds.

Abstract:A rigidity theorem for oriented complete submanifolds with parallel mean curvature in a complete and simply connected Riemannian (n + p)-dimensional manifold N n+p with negative sectional curvature is proved. For given positive integers n(≥ 2), p and for a constant H satisfying H > 1 there exists a negative number τ(n, p, H) ∈ (−1,0) with the property that if the sectional curvature of N is pinched in [−1, τ(n, p, H)], and if the squared length of the second fundamental form is in a certain interval, then N n+p is isometric to the hyperbolic space H n+p(−1). As a consequence, this submanifold M is congruent to S n (1/$\sqrt {H^2 - 1} $) or the Veronese surface in S 4(1/$\sqrt {H^2 - 1} $).

Abstract:Let $x:{\bf M}^m\rightarrow {\bf S}^{m+1}$ be a hypersurface in the (m+1)-dimensional unit sphere S m+1 without umbilics. Four basic invariants of x under the Möbius transformation group in S m+1 are a Riemannian metric g called Möbius metric, a 1-form Φ called Möbius form, a symmetric (0,2) tensor A called Blaschke tensor and symmetric (0,2) tensor B called Möbius second fundamental form. In this paper, we prove the following classification theorem: let $x:{\bf M}^m\rightarrow {\bf S}^{m+1}$ be a hypersurface, which satisfies (i) Φ≡0, (ii) A+λg+μB≡0 for some functions λ and μ, then λ and μ must be constant, and x is Möbius equivalent to either (i) a hypersurface with constant mean curvature and scalar curvature in S m+1 ; or (ii) the pre-image of a stereographic projection of a hypersurface with constant mean curvature and scalar curvature in the Euclidean space R m+1 ; or (iii) the image of the standard conformal map of a hypersurface with constant mean curvature and scalar curvature in the (m+1)-dimensional hyperbolic space H m+1 . This result shows that one can use Möbius differential geometry to unify the three different classes of hypersurface with constant mean curvature and scalar curvature in S m+1 , R m+1 and H m+1 .

Abstract:Certain general conditions are put forth on a complete simply-connected Riemannian manifold of nonpositive curvature which guarantee that they support nontrivial bounded harmonic functions. This result includes the Cartan–Hadamard manifolds with curvature pinched between two negative constants and the bounded symmetric domains ${{\mathfrak{R}}_I(n,n)}$ and ${{\mathfrak{R}}_{II}(n)}$ (n ≥ 2) as special cases.
A smooth Birman-Hilden theory for hyperkähler manifolds

Abstract:This article grew out of an effort to understand the smooth mapping class groups of certain 4-manifolds in a geometric manner. We prove a smooth analog of the Birman-Hilden theorem for manifolds that admit a hyperk\"ahler structure. This allows us to probe the smooth mapping class groups associated to certain manifolds with nontrivial fundamental groups. Along the way, and of independent interest, we prove a global Torelli theorem for generalized Enriques manifolds. The techniques used are analogous to Teichm\"uller-theoretic methods in the classical theory of mapping class groups. We apply this hyperk\"ahler Birman-Hilden theorem to obtain results regarding smooth, metric, and complex Nielsen realization on Enriques surfaces.

Suppose the fundamental group $$\pi _1(M)$$ satisfies certain radial quadratic (resp. linear) isoperimetric inequality, we show that there exists a smooth 1-form $$\eta $$ on $$\widetilde{M}$$ of linear (resp. bounded) growth such that $$\pi ^*\omega =d \eta $$ . As applications, we prove that on a compact Kähler manifold $$(M,\omega )$$ with $$\pi ^*\omega $$ cohomologous to zero, if $$\pi _1(M)$$ is $$\mathrm{CAT}(0)$$ or automatic (resp. hyperbolic), then M is Kähler non-elliptic (resp. Abstract:Suppose M is a m-dimensional submanifold without umbilic points in the (m + p)-dimensional unit sphere S m+ p .Four basic invariants of M m under the Möbius transformation group of S m+ p are a symmetric positive definite 2-form g called the Möbius metric, a section B of the normal bundle called the Möbius second fundamental form, a 1-form called the Möbius form, and a symmetric (0, 2) tensor A called the Blaschke tensor.In the Möbius geometry of submanifolds, the most important examples of Möbius minimal submanifolds (also called Willmore submanifolds) are Willmore tori and Veronese submanifolds.In this paper, several fundamental inequalities of the Möbius geometry of submanifolds are established and the Möbius characterizations of Willmore tori and Veronese submanifolds are presented by using Möbius invariants.

Abstract:In a paper by Angella, Otal, Ugarte, and Villacampa, the authors conjectured that on a compact Hermitian manifold, if a Gauduchon connection other than Chern or Strominger is Kähler-like, then the Hermitian metric must be Kähler. They also conjectured that if two Gauduchon connections are both Kähler-like, then the metric must be Kähler. In this paper, we discuss some partial answers to the first conjecture, and give a proof to the second conjecture. In the process, we discovered an interesting `duality' phenomenon amongst Gauduchon connections, which seems to be intimately tied to the question, though we do not know if there is any underlying reason for that from physics.

Abstract:Motivated by the recent work of Wu and Yau on the ampleness of a canonical line bundle for projective manifolds with negative holomorphic sectional curvature, we introduce a new curvature notion called real bisectional curvature for Hermitian manifolds. When the metric is Kahler, this is just the holomorphic sectional curvature H, and when the metric is non-Kahler, it is slightly stronger than H. We classify compact Hermitian manifolds with constant nonzero real bisectional curvature, and also slightly extend Wu and Yau's theorem to the Hermitian case. The underlying reason for the extension is that the Schwarz lemma of Wu and Yau works the same when the target metric is only Hermitian but has nonpositive real bisectional curvature.

Abstract: In this article, we study Hermitian manifolds whose Bismut-Strominger connection has parallel torsion tensor, which will be called {\em Bismut torsion parallel manifolds,} or {\em BTP} manifolds for short. We obtain a necessary and sufficient condition characterizing this class in terms of the curvature tensor. In particular, Bismut flat or Bismut K\"ahler-like manifolds are {\em BTP} manifolds, known by our earlier results. We also obtain structural results for non-balanced {\em BTP} manifolds, and classification theorems for non-balanced {\em BTP} threefolds and balanced {\em BTP} threefolds.

Abstract:This articles is devoted to a description of the second-order differential geometry of torsion-free almost quaternionic skew-Hermitian manifolds, that is, of quaternionic skew-Hermitian manifolds $(M, Q, \omega)$. We provide a curvature characterization of such integrable geometric structures, based on the holonomy theory of symplectic connections and we study qualitative properties of the induced Ricci tensor. Then we proceed with bundle constructions over such a manifold $(M, Q, \omega)$. In particular, we prove the existence of almost hypercomplex skew-Hermitian structures on the Swann bundle over $M$ and investigate their integrability.
