Cost-Benefit Analysis and Evaluation of Education Informatization in Colleges and Universities

Abstract:Cost-benefit analysis and evaluation of education informatization is a complex system engineering,whose core work lies in clarifying key factors for restricting construction cost and application benefit of education informatization.Education informatization cost consists of three factors,namely,information construction cost of teaching and scientific research,information infrastructure costs and information security system cost.Benefit index is composed of teaching benefit,scientific research benefit and management benefit.According to the above evaluation system,a cost-benefit analysis of education informatization has been made in 19 colleges and universities in Zhejiang province.The findings are as follows:the key factors influencing education informatization cost include infrastructures,information resources,computer equipments,personnel,network and training funds;and the key factors influencing education benefit include the quality of scientific research personnel,multimedia network utilization,informatization management application,scientific application of information resources,information network popularization and multimedia teaching application;there are significant correlations between cost and benefit of education informatization in these colleges and universities;the key factors further concretize the cost-benefit indicators,which will actively guide the practice of performance evaluation of education informatization.
