In this paper, we constructed one multi-receiver authentication codes from pseudo-symplectic geometry over finite fields. Abstract:Journal of Algebra and Its Applications, Ahead of Print. In this paper, we represent vector bundles over a regular algebraic curve as pairs of lattices over the maximal orders of its function field and we give polynomial time algorithms for several tasks: computing determinants of vector bundles, kernels and images of global homomorphisms, isomorphisms between vector bundles, cohomology groups, extensions, and splitting into a direct sum of indecomposables. Most algorithms are deterministic except for computing isomorphisms when the base field is infinite. Some algorithms are only polynomial time if we may compute Hermite forms of pseudo-matrices in polynomial time. All algorithms rely exclusively on algebraic operations in function fields. For applications, we give an algorithm enumerating isomorphism classes of vector bundles on an elliptic curve, and to construct algebraic geometry codes over vector bundles. We implement all our algorithms into a SageMath package.

Abstract:The main purpose of this paper is to give an overview over the theory of abelian varieties, with main focus on Jacobian varieties of curves reaching from well-known results till to latest developments and their usage in cryptography. In the first part we provide the necessary mathematical background on abelian varieties, their torsion points, Honda-Tate theory, Galois representations, with emphasis on Jacobian varieties and hyperelliptic Jacobians. In the second part we focus on applications of abelian varieties on cryptography and treating separately, elliptic curve cryptography, genus 2 and 3 cryptography, including Diffie-Hellman Key Exchange, index calculus in Picard groups, isogenies of Jacobians via correspondences and applications to discrete logarithms. Several open problems and new directions are suggested.

Encoding of algebraic geometry codes with quasi-linear complexity O(Nlog N)

Abstract:Fast encoding and decoding of codes have been always an important topic in code theory as well as complexity theory. Although encoding is easier than decoding in general, designing an encoding algorithm of codes of length $N$ with quasi-linear complexity $O(N\log N)$ is not an easy task. Despite the fact that algebraic geometry codes were discovered in the early of 1980s, encoding algorithms of algebraic geometry codes with quasi-linear complexity $O(N\log N)$ have not been found except for the simplest algebraic geometry codes--Reed-Solomon codes. The best-known encoding algorithm of algebraic geometry codes based on a class of plane curves has quasi-linear complexity at least $O(N\log^2 N)$. In this paper, we design an encoding algorithm of algebraic geometry codes with quasi-linear complexity $O(N\log N)$. Our algorithm works well for a large class of algebraic geometry codes based on both plane and non-plane curves. The main idea of this paper is to generalize the divide-and-conquer method from the fast Fourier Transform over finite fields to algebraic curves. Suppose we consider encoding of algebraic geometry codes based on an algebraic curve ${\mathcal X}$ over $\mathbb{F}_q$. We first consider a tower of Galois coverings ${\mathcal X}={\mathcal X}_0\rightarrow{\mathcal X}_1\rightarrow\cdots\rightarrow{\mathcal X}_r$ over a finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$, i.e., their function field tower $\mathbb{F}_q({\mathcal X}_0)\supsetneq\mathbb{F}_q({\mathcal X}_{1})\supsetneq\cdots \supsetneq\mathbb{F}_q({\mathcal X}_r)$ satisfies that each of extension \mathbb{F}_q({\mathcal X}_{i-1})/\mathbb{F}_q({\mathcal X}_i)$ is a Galois extension and the extension degree $[\mathbb{F}_q({\mathcal X}_{i-1}):\mathbb{F}_q({\mathcal X}_i)]$ {is a constant}. Then encoding of an algebraic geometry code based on ${\mathcal X}$ is reduced to the encoding of an algebraic geometry code based on ${\mathcal X}_r$.

Abstract:In the present paper, we show that if the dimension of an arbitrary algebraic geometry code over a finite field of even characteristic is slightly less than $n/2-g$ with $n$ being the length of the code and $g$ being the genus of the base curve, then it is equivalent to an Euclidean self-orthogonal code. Previously, such results required a strong condition on the existence of a certain differential. We also show a similar result on Hermitian self-orthogonal algebraic geometry codes. As a consequence, we can apply our result to quantum codes and obtain some good quantum codes. In particular, we obtain a $q$-ary quantum $[[q+1,1]]$-MDS code for an even power $q$ which is essential for quantum secret sharing.

Abstract:We prove that any geometrically connected curve X over a field k is an algebraic K(π,1) , as soon as its geometric irreducible components have nonzero genus. This means that the cohomology of any locally constant constructible étale sheaf of Z/nZ ‐modules, with n invertible in k , is canonically isomorphic to the cohomology of its corresponding π1(X) ‐module. To this end, we explicitly construct some Galois coverings of X corresponding to Galois coverings of the normalisation of its irreducible components. When k is finite or algebraically closed, we precisely describe finite quotients of π1(X) that allow to compute the cohomology groups of the sheaf, and give explicit descriptions of the cup products H1×H1→H2 and H1×H2→H3 in étale cohomology in terms of finite group cohomology.

Abstract:We introduce a new class of nonlinear algebraic-geometry codes based on evaluation of functions on infinitely near points. Let X be an algebraic variety over the finite field F-q. An infinitely near point of order mu is a point P on a variety X' obtained by mu iterated blowing-ups starting from X. Given such a point P and a function f on X, we give a definition of f(P) which is nonlinear in f (unless mu = 0). Given a set S of infinitely near points {P-1, . . . , P-n}, we associate to f its set of values (f(P-1), . . . , f(P-n)) in F-q(n). Let V be a k dimensional vector space of functions on X. Evaluation of functions in V at the n points of S gives a map V -> F-q(n), which we view as an (n, q(k), d) code when the map is injective. Here d is the largest integer such that a function in V is uniquely determined by its values on any n - d + 1 points of S. These codes generalize the Reed-Solomon codes, but unlike the R-S codes they can be constructed to have arbitrarily large code length n. The first nontrivial case is where X = A(Fq)(2), affine 2-space, and we study this case in detail.

Abstract:We provide a theoretical study of Algebraic Geometry codes constructed from abelian surfaces defined over finite fields. We give a general bound on their minimum distance and we investigate how this estimation can be sharpened under the assumption that the abelian surface does not contain low genus curves. This approach naturally leads us to consider Weil restrictions of elliptic curves and abelian surfaces which do not admit a principal polarization.

Abstract:Curves over finite fields are of great importance in cryptography and coding theory. Through studying their zeta-functions, we would be able to find out vital arithmetic and geometric information about them and their Jacobians, including the number of rational points on this kind of curves. In this paper, I investigate if it is possible to construct a curve over finite fields of a given genus $g$ whose zeta-function is given as a product of zeta-functions of $g$ elliptic curves, and find out alternative methods if it is not possible. Basically, I look for conditions which those $g$ elliptic curves should satisfy such that their product (of their Jacobians) is isogenous to the Jacobian of a curve of a given genus $g$. Then from this isogenous relationship I can determine the characteristic polynomial of the Frobenius endomorphism of the Jacobian of the new curve and by this characteristic polynomial I can thus determine the zeta-function of this new curve. By using the zeta-functions of curves in the form as generating functions, the number of rational points on curves can even be found out, which may lead to further researches relating to some applications in cryptography, coding theory and even information theory.

On Linear Complementary Pairs of Algebraic Geometry Codes over Finite Fields

Abstract:Linear complementary dual (LCD) codes and linear complementary pairs (LCP) of codes have been proposed for new applications as countermeasures against side-channel attacks (SCA) and fault injection attacks (FIA) in the context of direct sum masking (DSM). The countermeasure against FIA may lead to a vulnerability for SCA when the whole algorithm needs to be masked (in environments like smart cards). This led to a variant of the LCD and LCP problems, where several results have been obtained intensively for LCD codes, but only partial results have been derived for LCP codes. Given the gap between the thin results and their particular importance, this paper aims to reduce this by further studying the LCP of codes in special code families and, precisely, the characterisation and construction mechanism of LCP codes of algebraic geometry codes over finite fields. Notably, we propose constructing explicit LCP of codes from elliptic curves. Besides, we also study the security parameters of the derived LCP of codes $(\mathcal{C}, \mathcal{D})$ (notably for cyclic codes), which are given by the minimum distances $d(\mathcal{C})$ and $d(\mathcal{D}^\perp)$. Further, we show that for LCP algebraic geometry codes $(\mathcal{C},\mathcal{D})$, the dual code $\mathcal{C}^\perp$ is equivalent to $\mathcal{D}$ under some specific conditions we exhibit. Finally, we investigate whether MDS LCP of algebraic geometry codes exist (MDS codes are among the most important in coding theory due to their theoretical significance and practical interests). Construction schemes for obtaining LCD codes from any algebraic curve were given in 2018 by Mesnager, Tang and Qi in [``Complementary dual algebraic geometry codes", IEEE Trans. Inform Theory, vol. 64(4), 2390--3297, 2018]. To our knowledge, it is the first time LCP of algebraic geometry codes has been studied.

We consider smooth rings with trivial K-0 as a natural generalisation of commutative regular local rings. Abstract:In this paper a construction of quantum codes from self-orthogonal algebraic geometry codes is provided. Our method is based on the CSS construction as well as on some peculiar properties of the underlying algebraic curves, named Swiss curves. Several classes of well-known algebraic curves with many rational points turn out to be Swiss curves. Examples are given by Castle curves, GK curves, generalized GK curves and the Abdon-Bezerra-Quoos maximal curves. Applications of our method to these curves are provided. Our construction extends a previous one due to Hernando, McGuire, Monserrat, and Moyano-Fernandez.
