Abstract:The paper gives new integral representations of the $g$-Drazin inverse of an element $a$ of a $C^*$-algebra that require no restriction on the spectrum of $a$. The representations involve powers of $a$ and of its adjoint.

Abstract:An element a of a ring R is called Drazin invertible if there exists b∈R such that ab =ba,bab =b,and a -a2 b is nilpotent.The element b above is unique if it exists and is denoted as aD .The equivalent conditions of the Drazin inverse involving idempotents in R are established.As applications, some formulae for the Drazin inverse of the difference and the product of idempotents in a ring are given.Hence,a number of results of bounded linear operators in Banach spaces are extended to the ring case.

Abstract:We present necessary and sufficient conditions under which the anti-triangular matrix $\left( \begin{array}{cc} a&b 1&0 \end{array} \right)$ over a Banach algebra has g-Drazin inverse. New additive results for g-Drazin inverse are obtained. Then we apply our results to $2\times 2$ operator matrices and generalize many known results, e.g.,~\cite[Theorem 2.2]{D}, ~\cite[Theorem 2.1]{YL} and \cite[Theorem 4.1]{Y}.

Abstract:Two representations for the Drazin inverse of a $2\times2$ block matrix $M=[{A \atop C}\;{B \atop D}]$, where $A$ and $D$ are square matrices, in terms of the Drazin inverses of $A$ and $D$ have been recently developed under the assumptions that $C(I-AA^{D})=0$ and $(I-AA^{D})B=0$, and that the generalized Schur complement $D-CA^{D}B$ is either nonsingular or zero. These two representations of $M^{D}$ are extended to the case where $C(I-AA^{D})=0$ and $(I-AA^{D})B=0$ are substituted with $C(I-AA^{D})B=0$ and $A(I-AA^{D})B=0$. Moreover, upper bounds for the index of $M$ are studied. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the new results.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the pseudo Drazin invertibility of the sum and the product of elements in a Banach algebra A. Given pseudo Drazin invertible elements a and b such that a(2)b = aba and b(2)a = bab, it is shown that ab is pseudo Drazin invertible and a + b is pseudo Drazin invertible if and only if so is 1 + a double dagger b, and the related formulae are provided.

Abstract:We present new additive properties of the g-Drazin inverse of a linear operator on a Banach space. The g-Drazin invertibility of certain block operator matrices on a Banach space is thereby established. These results extend many known results, e.g., by Yang and Liu [J. Comput. Applied Math. 235 , 1412–1417 (2011)] and Dopazo and Martinez-Serrano [Linear Algebra Appl. 432 , 1896–1904 (2010)].

Abstract:In this paper, we give some results for the Drazin inverse of a modified matrix $M=A-CD^dB$ with the generalized Schur complement $Z=D-BA^dC$ under some conditions. Further, we present some new results for the Drazin inverse of the modified matrix $M=A-CD^dB$, when the generalized Schur complement $Z=0$ under some conditions. As a result, some conclusions are obtained directly from our results.

Abstract:The famous Drazin inverse and generalized Drazin inverse were introduced by Drazin in 1958 and Koliha in 1996, respectively. In the present paper, the author introduces the concepts of left and right (generalized) Drazin inverses, which are the one-sided versions of classical (generalized) Drazin inverses, in Banach algebras. Several characterizations of one-sided (generalized) Drazin invertible operators on Banach spaces are given. By utilizing the one-sided Drazin invertible spectra, the characterizations of B-Fredholm spectra for Banach space operators are obtained. These perturbational results can be regarded as generalizations of classical Fredholm theory in Banach spaces.

Abstract:A strongly direct sum decomposition given by a strongly nil-clean endomorphism motivates us to introduce a class of new Drazin inverses, which is called strong Drazin inverse. In this paper, some basic properties of the strong Drazin inverse are obtained. We show the Cline's Formula and Jacobson's Lemma for the strong Drazin inverse. Further, some additive results for the strong Drazin inverse are presented under additional conditions that ab = 0 or ab = ba.

Abstract:Some additive results for the Drazin inverses are investigated under conditions weaker than those used in some recent papers on this subject. In particular, a formula is given for the Drazin inverse of a sum of two matrices $P, Q\in {\mathbf {C}}^{n\times n}$ with $PQ^{i}P=0$ for positive integer $i=1,2,\ldots ,n$.
