Abstract:Some additive perturbation results for Drazin inverses are given. In particular, a formula is given for the Drazin inverse of a sum of two matrices, when one of the products of these matrices vanishes. Some special applications of this are also considered.

Abstract:For two square matrices that commute, we present some additive results for the Drazin inverse. We also give the application to relative perturbation of eigenvalues when the perturbed matrix commutes with the original matrix and perturbation bounds of the Drazin inverse.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate additive properties of generalized Drazin inverse of two Drazin invertible linear operators in Banach spaces. Under the commutative condition of PQ=QP, we give explicit representations of the generalized Drazin inverse (P+Q)d in term of P, Pd, Q and Qd. We consider some applications of our results to the perturbation of the Drazin inverse and analyze a number of special cases.

Abstract:The Drazin inverse of a square matrix occurs in a number of applications. It is of importance to analyse the perturbation bounds for the Drazin inverse of a matrix. Let B = A + E . Under the assumption of rank( B j ) =rank( A k ), where j and k are the indices of B and A , respectively, upper bounds of ∥ B D ‐ A D ∥/∥ A D ∥ and ∥ BB D ‐ AA D ∥/∥ AA D ∥ have been recently studied. However, these upper bounds do not cover the perturbation bounds of the group inverse recently given by the authors as a special case. Moreover, these perturbation bounds for the Drazin inverse are too large to be practical. In this paper, we present sharper unified perturbation bounds for the Drazin inverse, which are the extensions of the recent result in the case of group inverse. It solves the problem posed by Campbell and Meyer in 1975. A numerical example is given to illustrate the sharpness of the new general bounds. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Abstract:Given a square matrix A and its perturbation matrix E, a new expression for the Drazin inverse B^D of B=A+E is derived if AA^DB^2=(AA^DB)^2 or B^2AA^D=(BAA^D)^2. Based on the new expression, a bound of the relative error of B^D is developed. Some known results in the literature on the Drazin inverse and the perturbation bound are included by this new formula as special cases. A numerical example is given to compare the upper bounds.

Abstract:A constructive perturbation bound of the Drazin inverse of a square matrix is derived using a technique proposed by G. Stewart and based on perturbation theory for invariant subspaces. This is an improvement of the result published by the authors Wei and Li [Numer. Linear Algebra Appl., 10 (2003), pp. 563--575]. It is a totally new approach to developing perturbation bounds for the Drazin inverse of a matrix. A numerical example which indicates the sharpness of the perturbation bound is presented.

Abstract:Given a complex Banach space $X$, let $\mathcal{B}(X)$ be the collection of all bounded linear operators on $X.$ For $A,B\in\mathcal{B}(X)$ we define $A,B$ are $A$-weakly commutative if there exists $C\in\mathcal{B}(X)$ satisfying $$AB=CA\text{ and }BA=AC.$$ The objective of this paper is to study the Drazin invertibility of $A+B$ and $AB$, when $A, B\in\mathcal{B}(X)^D$ are $A\text{ and }B$-weakly commutative. Consequently, this extends some of the additive and multiplicative results established by Huanyin and Marjan Sheibani (Linear and Multilinear Algebra \textbf{70.1} (2022): 53-65) for a distinct family of elements. Moreover, we also establish these additive and multiplicative properties for g-Drazin inverses in a complex Banach algebra.

Abstract:We present necessary and sufficient conditions under which the anti-triangular matrix $\left( \begin{array}{cc} a&b 1&0 \end{array} \right)$ over a Banach algebra has g-Drazin inverse. New additive results for g-Drazin inverse are obtained. Then we apply our results to $2\times 2$ operator matrices and generalize many known results, e.g.,~\cite[Theorem 2.2]{D}, ~\cite[Theorem 2.1]{YL} and \cite[Theorem 4.1]{Y}.

Abstract:In this study, we derive the Drazin inverse (A+εB)D{\left(A+\varepsilon B)}^{D} of the complex matrix A+εBA+\varepsilon B with Ind(A+εB)>1{\rm{Ind}}\left(A+\varepsilon B)\gt 1 and Ind(A)=k{\rm{Ind}}\left(A)=k and the group inverse (A+εB)#{\left(A+\varepsilon B)}^{\#} of the complex matrix A+εBA+\varepsilon B with Ind(A+εB)=1{\rm{Ind}}\left(A+\varepsilon B)=1 and Ind(A)=k{\rm{Ind}}\left(A)=k when εB\varepsilon B is viewed as the perturbation of AA. If the dual Drazin inverse (DDGI) A^DDGI{\widehat{A}}^{{\rm{DDGI}}} of A^\widehat{A} is considered as a notation. We calculate (A+εB)D−A^DDGI{\left(A+\varepsilon B)}^{D}-{\widehat{A}}^{{\rm{DDGI}}} and (A+εB)#−A^DDGI{\left(A+\varepsilon B)}^{\#}-{\widehat{A}}^{{\rm{DDGI}}} and obtain ‖(A+εB)D−A^DDGI‖P∈O(ε2)\Vert {\left(A+\varepsilon B)}^{D}-{\widehat{A}}^{{\rm{DDGI}}}{\Vert }_{P}\in {\mathcal{O}}\left({\varepsilon }^{2}) and ‖(A+εB)#−A^DDGI‖P∈O(ε2)\Vert {\left(A+\varepsilon B)}^{\#}-{\widehat{A}}^{{\rm{DDGI}}}{\Vert }_{P}\in {\mathcal{O}}\left({\varepsilon }^{2}).
