Abstract:The representations for the Drazin inverse of anti-triangular matrices are obtained under some conditions. Applying these representations, we give a necessary condition for a class of block matrices to have signed Drazin inverse.

Abstract:In 1979, Campbell and Meyer proposed the problem of finding a formula for the Drazin inverse of a 2 x 2 matrix M =[GRAPHICS]in terms of its various blocks, where the blocks A and D are required to be square matrices. Special cases of the problems have been studied. In particular, a representation of the Drazin inverse of M, denoted by M-D, has recently been obtained under the assumptions that C(I - AA(D))B = O and A(I - AA(D))B = O together with the condition that the generalized Schur complement D - CA(D)B be either nonsingular or zero. We derive an alternative representation for M-D under the same assumptions, but with the condition on the Schur complement in the hypothesis replaced by the condition that R(CAA(D)) subset of N(B) boolean AND N(D), where R(.) and N(.) are the range and null space of a matrix. Abstract:Two representations for the Drazin inverse of a $2\times2$ block matrix $M=[{A \atop C}\;{B \atop D}]$, where $A$ and $D$ are square matrices, in terms of the Drazin inverses of $A$ and $D$ have been recently developed under the assumptions that $C(I-AA^{D})=0$ and $(I-AA^{D})B=0$, and that the generalized Schur complement $D-CA^{D}B$ is either nonsingular or zero. These two representations of $M^{D}$ are extended to the case where $C(I-AA^{D})=0$ and $(I-AA^{D})B=0$ are substituted with $C(I-AA^{D})B=0$ and $A(I-AA^{D})B=0$. Moreover, upper bounds for the index of $M$ are studied. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the new results.

Abstract:We present necessary and sufficient conditions under which the anti-triangular matrix $\left( \begin{array}{cc} a&b 1&0 \end{array} \right)$ over a Banach algebra has g-Drazin inverse. New additive results for g-Drazin inverse are obtained. Then we apply our results to $2\times 2$ operator matrices and generalize many known results, e.g.,~\cite[Theorem 2.2]{D}, ~\cite[Theorem 2.1]{YL} and \cite[Theorem 4.1]{Y}.

Abstract:Let P, Q, R and S be complex square matrices and M=P+Q+R+S. A quadruple (P,Q,R,S) is called a pseudo-block decomposition of M ifPQ=QP=0PS=SQ=QR=RP=0andRD=SD=0,where RD and SD are the Drazin inverses of R and S, respectively. We investigate the problem of finding formulae for the Drazin inverse of M. The explicit representations for the Drazin inverses of M and P+Q+R are developed, under some assumptions. As its application, some representations are presented for 2×2 block matricesAB0CandABDC, where the blocks A and C are square matrices. Several results of this paper extend the well known representation for the Drazin inverse ofAB0Cgiven by Hartwig and Shoaf, Meyer and Rose in 1977. An illustrative example is given to verify our new representations.

Abstract:Representations of {1,2,3}-inverses, {1,2,4}-inverses, and Drazin inverse of a partitioned matrix M = [GRAPHICS] related to the generalized Schur complement are studied. First, we give the necessary and sufficient conditions under which {1,2,3}-inverses, {1,2,4}-inverses, and group inverse of a 2 x 2 block matrix can be represented in the Banachiewicz-Schur forms. Some results from the paper of Cvetkovic-ilic, 2009, are generalized. Also, we expressed the quotient property and the first Sylvester identity in terms of the generalized Schur complement.

Abstract:We present new additive properties of the g-Drazin inverse of a linear operator on a Banach space. The g-Drazin invertibility of certain block operator matrices on a Banach space is thereby established. These results extend many known results, e.g., by Yang and Liu [J. Comput. Applied Math. 235 , 1412–1417 (2011)] and Dopazo and Martinez-Serrano [Linear Algebra Appl. 432 , 1896–1904 (2010)].
