Coexistence Cancer of Bladder and Prostate (clinical Study of 12 Cases)

Abstract:Objective:To highlight the recognition of concurrent presentation of both bladder cancer and prostate cancer and raise the detection rate.Patient and Methods:We retrospectively reviewed 12 patients who were diagnosed with both bladder cancer and prostate cancer at our institution between January 2003 and January 2008.Results:9 patients were initially diagnosed with bladder cancer.Follow up records was available for 8 patients(range 4 month to 47 month,mean 16.5 month).Of the 8 patients,2 died within 10 month and 16 month respectively for the tumor metastasis,1 died within 11 month for cerebral accident,and the remainder 5 were alive without recurrence and metastasis.3 patients were initially diagnosed with prostate cancer and followed up for 38 month.25 month and 6 month,respectively,2 were alive without recurrence and metastasis,1 died within 25 month for the tumor metastasis.Conclusions:The prevalence rate of concurrent presentation of both bladder cancer and prostate cancer is low,it is often to be neglected.For patient initially diagnosed with bladder cancer or prostate cancer,the possibility of another cancer is still of concern.
