Assessment the effect of simultaneous transurethral resection of bladder tumors and prostate

Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of simultaneous transurethral resection of bladder tumors and prostate for the patients of noninvasive bladder tumor coexisting severe lower urinary tract symptoms.Methods From 2004 to 2008,the follow-up data from 45 cases of noninvasive bladder tumor with severe lower urinary tract symptoms who had undergone both transurethral resction of bladder tumor and prostate and 126 cases who had undergone transurethral resction of bladder tumor alone were analyzed retrospectively.The rates of recurrence,progression and tumor implantation in posterior urethra were compared between the two groups.Results The rates of recurrence,progression and tumor implantation in posterior urethra were 26.7%、8.9%、4.4% and 27.8%、8.7%、4.8% in TURBT+TUVP and TURBT group respectively.No statistically significant differences were found between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions Simultaneous transurethral resection of bladder tumors and prostate for the patients with noninvasive bladder tumor coexisting severe lower urinary tract symptoms were safe and effective.
