Abstract:A phytochemical investigation on the peels of Clausena lansium (Lour.) Skeels led to the isolation of two new monoterpenoid coumarins, named clauslactone V (1) and clauslactone W (2), together with three known analogues (3-5). Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic techniques (UV, IR, MS, 1D and 2D NMR). All the compounds were evaluated for hypoglycemic activity, and compounds 1-5 showed α-glucosidase inhibitory activity in vitro.

Abstract:Two new coumarins (1-2) have been isolated from a methanol extract of Zanthoxylum schinifolium branches. The structures of compounds 1 and 2 have been elucidated as 6-isopentenyl -7-benzoyl-coumarin and 3-isopentenyl-7-benzoyl-coumarin based on extensive spectroscopic analysis, including IR, NMR, and MS. The inhibitory activity of compounds 1 and 2 against HeLa and HepG2 cell lines has been described.

Abstract:Phytochemical study on the stems and leaves of Clausena dunniana H. Lev. led to the isolation and identification of 14 coumarins (1-14). Their chemical structures were determined on the basis of MS, NMR, and further supported by comparison with those reported in the literature. This is the first report that compounds 1-2, 4, 8, and 12-14 are present in the genus Clausena, and all of these compounds were isolated from C. dunniana for the first time. The chemotaxonomic significance of these isolated compounds was discussed.

Abstract:Three unusual sesterterpenoids featuring unprecedented rearranged colquhounane (C25) and tetranorcolquhounane (C21) frameworks, colquhounoids E (1) and F (3) and norcolquhounoid F (2), were isolated from a Lamiaceae medicinal plant Colquhounia coccinea var. mollis. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and quantum chemical calculations. A biomimetic inspired regioselective cyclopropane cleavage was achieved under acidic conditions. The immunosuppressive activities of these new sesterterpenoids were also evaluated.

Abstract:Anisotanols A–D (1–4), four new compounds possessing an unprecedented sesquiterpenoid skeleton with a congested tricyclic 6/3/5 ring system, were obtained from Anisodus tanguticus. Their structures were elucidated by comprehensive spectroscopic techniques, and the absolute configurations were confirmed via ECD calculations and single-crystal X-ray diffractions. A putative biosynthetic pathway for these compounds was proposed. Biological evaluation disclosed that compound 3 showed anti-angiogenic activity by inhibiting the viability, migration, and tube formation in HUVECs.This article is protected by copyright. Abstract:Chemical investigation of the leaves and stems of Chloranthus henryi resulted in the isolation and characterization of the three new cadinane-type sesquiterpenes 1-3 and of the new eudesmane-type sesquiterpene 4, together with three known compounds. Among the new compounds, the two cadinanetype sesquiterpenes 1 and 2 possess an unusual aromatic ring B in their molecule. These structures were established on the basis of spectroscopic evidence. In addition, antitumor activities of the isolates were also evaluated.

Abstract:Two new dimeric lindenane-type sesquiterpenoids (1 and 2, named chlorasessilifols A and B, resp.), one new ent-podocarpane-type C17 norditerpenoid (3), and one new ent-torarane-type diterpenoid (4), along with seven known terpenoids, were isolated from the whole plant of Chloranthus sessilifolius. The new structures were established by means of spectroscopic methods and/or observed cotton effects in the circular dichroism spectra. Among the isolates, 3α,7β-dihydroxy-ent-abieta-8,11,13-triene (11) exhibited significant anti-neuroinflammatory activity by inhibiting the nitric oxide production in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated murine BV-2 microglial cells, with an IC50 value of 4.3 μM.

Abstract:Two previously undescribed coumarins ( 1 and 2 ) were isolated from the root of Hansenia weberbaueriana which have been used to cure inflammatory diseases over thousands of years by Chinese. The structures of new findings were confirmed by comprehensive analyses of spectral evidences in HRESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR combined with chemical calculations. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited potential anti-inflammatory properties by reducing the mRNA expression levels of TNF-α , IL-6 and IL-1β in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW264.7 macrophages at a concentration of 15 μM.

Abstract:A preliminary phytochemical investigation of the stems of the endangered plant Ulmus elongata led to the isolation of a new coumarin derivative (named ulmuselactone A, 1) and eight known compounds (2-9). The new structure was elucidated by detailed analysis of comprehensive spectroscopic methods, and its absolute configuration was established by comparing experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra. The isolated compounds were evaluated for their antibacterial activities.

Abstract:Two new chromones named cnidimol G (1) and cnidimol H (2), one new coumarin, 7-methoxy-8-(3-methoxy-3-methyl-2-oxobutyl)coumarin (3), and twenty known compounds were isolated from MeOH extract of the fruit of Cnidium monnieri (L.) Abstract:A chemotaxonomic survey for biologically active compounds from Malaysian Calophyllum species led to the finding of the four new benzoylcoumarins 1a, 2, 3, and 4a (including the unusual prenylated 6-benzoylcoumarin la), two uncommon coumarins 5 and 6a with a pyran-4-one moiety fused at C(6) and C(7), and compounds 7a, 9, and 10, all isolated from the bark of C. teysmannii var, inophylloide. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic analysis and chemical transformations. X-Ray crystal-structure determination of 2 provided information on the conformational preferences of substituents in this class of coumarins. The syntheses of the cytotoxic calanone (7a) and of some related coumarins are described.

Abstract:Seven new sesquiterpenoids, chlorantenes A-G (1-7), two new phenylpropanoids (8 and 9), and six known sesquiterpenoids were isolated from the whole plants of Chloranthus serratus. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analyses. Chlorantene A (1) was a sesquiterpene with a unique C-4 and C-10 linkage, and chlorantene B (2) possessed a nitro group at C-1. The structure of a eudesmane-type sesquiterpene previously isolated from Chloranthus henryi was revised as its 4-epimer (3a).
