Abstract:The partial replacement of spherical zinc powder by graphite, iron phosphide, talcum, and high-titanium gray pigment in alcohol-soluble inorganic zinc-rich paint was studied based on the corrosion resistance of coating evaluated by salt water immersion, salt spray test, and open circuit potential measurement. The results showed that all the coatings with different powders have an optimal replacement ratio, at which the coating obtained has the longest cathodic protection time. The coatings with conductive powders have better corrosion protection effect than those with nonconductive powders. The initial open circuit potential shifts in the negative direction firstly and then in the positive direction when increasing the replacement ratio for the coatings with conductive powders, and reaches the minimum at the optimal replacement ratio. The initial open circuit potentials of the coatings with nonconductive powders shift positively gradually with increasing replacement ratio.
