The Reform of Income Distribution in China:Problems,Challenges and Solutions

Abstract:This paperdiscusses the main features of China's currentincome distribution and the enormous challengesthecountry faces inthisregard,and offers proposals for reform of the income distributionsystem. Income inequality has increased in China,andunfair incomedistribution is becoming an increasingly seriousproblem. The income gap between urban and rural areas remains high,income in the monopoly sector is extremely high,thesocial security system treatsdifferentpeople differently,andcorrupt officials abuse power for personal gain. All thisnot only widens income inequalities,butalso brings about more serious unfair distribution of income,which adversely affectslong- term economic and social stability and development. Theproblem of income distribution should be resolved primarily by eliminating unfair distribution of income,as well asdeepening reform of the income distribution systemand carrying out political reform.
