Abstract:By repeated experiments,the factors of causing yarn hairiness were discussed and analyzed,which indicates some certain relations between semi-finished products and yarn hairiness.To reduce yarn hairiness,the processing parameters in fore-spinning should be fixed firstly;and processing parameters of raw materials,drawing process and roving with good quality should be properly chosen.

Abstract:Some factors affecting the winding yarn hairiness,such as winding frame installation state,operating ect.are analyzed by producing process and testing.The result showed that there are some relations between the winding frame installation state and the winding yarn hairiness,in order to reduce the winding yarn hairiness,retaining the good mechance device first,some processing parameters such as rational process parameters vortex jet nozzle,balloon burst instrument should be rationally selected second.

Abstract:In this paper are tested the influence of pre-tension of the raw silk and polyester filament on the property of the tricomponent composite yarn with the causes of the influence studied.And optimized technical parameters of the pre-tension are thus obtained: 25 cN for polyester filament and 15 cN for raw silk.

Abstract:Fabric structure has a significant effect on the thermal protective performance of fabrics. Before studying the thermal performance of textiles by numerical methods, it is essential to create geometric models of textile structures. Common fabrics, such as plain weave, 2/1 twill, 3/3 twill, 5/3 satin, and double layer fabric, were modeled using TexGen software. To obtain the input data for geometry simulation of fabrics, geometric measurements were studied. Methods of modeling fabric geometries according to their yarn path function and cross-sectional shapes were introduced. The appearances of the geometric models were very close to the structures of the real fabrics when compared to their light microscopic images. The fabric models were well used to simulate the heat transfer properties of glass fiber fabrics.

Abstract:Based on theories of computer graphics and computer simulation technology, this paper has set forth appearance parameter models of fancy yarns in the light of the spinning principle and the physical and geometric structure of fancy yarns. And in combination with local illumination model and diffuse reflection model, the paper has solved the key problems of graphics expression of yarn appearance and simulating structural effect of yarns in light. This paper will discuss the methods of simulating three kinds of fancy yarn - loop yarn, wave yarn and chenille yarn. A visual representation, namely parameterized structural model of appearance, is created by abstracting from the physical and geometric configuration of real fancy yarn. Such improved approach for simulation would help for further optimizing the design of the fabrics made from fancy yarns, which has the theoretical and practical value.

Abstract:Raw cotton performance and key technology of each process of influencing on yarn forming neps were analyzed through spinning test. The result shows——raw cotton maturity degree should be suited to reduce yarn forming neps, opening and carding process technology should be reasonable to strengthen carding and clean short fibers & impurities, waste percentage and brush speed of combing process should be increased suitably, drawing speed and passage head should be reduced, roving quantum should be reduced & twist should be increased, spinning process should be setted collector & adoptsoft elastic non-treatment top roller & plastic top pin and be reduced back zone draft multiple & increased back gauge, coning speed and tension should be reduced suitably.

Abstract:The spinning process principle of composite yarn was introduced.According to the rebuilding cotton spinning machine and based on the practice in the spinning process,spinning technological process of composite yarn is defined.Some experiments on the primary processing parameters of the composite spinning yarn were carried out,and the influences of spinning factors on composite yarn quality were analyzed by the spinning processes.The problems of end-breakage and unevenness etc. of composite yarn in the spinning process were resolved by reasonable spinning process configuration.The effective technical measures and process parameters were discussed.The results could be as a reference data for improving the quality of composite yarn and developing the new products further.
Study on a reducing-hairiness nozzle attached on the winding machine

Abstract:A special hairiness-reducing nozzle was attached on a winding machine. The design and attachment of the nozzle should not change the yarn twist and strength. The hairiness-reducing mechanism of the nozzle was analysed, which utilised an air-jet to produce the rotating air stream to perform false twisting, detwisting and wrapping of the yarn so as to wrap the hairiness onto or twist it into the main yarn body, thus reducing the yarn hairiness. The position and method for attaching the nozzle were introduced. The hairiness index, hairiness appearance, twist and strength of the yarn, which was produced by the winding machine attached with the nozzle were examined. The results indicated that the processed yarns have their hairiness index lowered, hairiness appearance improved, and the twist and strength remained unchanged, which verified the hairiness-reducing effect of the nozzle. Fabric pilling property and surface features were measured for fabrics in which the filling yarns were through the winding machine with the nozzle. The results showed that the fabrics had less pilling and a smoother surface.

Abstract:Control of tension distribution in the spinning triangle region that can facilitate fiber motion and transfer is highly desirable for high quality yarn production. Here, the key mechanisms and a mechanical model of gradient regulation of fiber tension and motion with rotary heterogeneous contact surfaces were theoretically analyzed. The linear velocity gradient, effected on a fiber strand using rotary heterogeneous contact surfaces, could balance and stabilize the structure and stress distribution of spinning triangle area, which could capture exposed fiber to reduce hairiness formation and enhance the internal and external fiber transfer to strengthen the fiber utilization rate. Then, varied yarns spun without and with the rotary grooved and rotary heterogeneous contact surfaces were tested to compare the property improvement for verifying above-mentioned theory. The hairiness, irregularity, and tensity of the yarns spun with rotary heterogeneous contact surfaces spun yarns were significantly improved compared to other spun yarns, which effectively corresponded well to the theoretical analysis. Based on this spinning method, this effective, low energy-consuming, easy spinning apparatus can be used with varied fiber materials for high-quality yarn production.

Abstract:Human hair is a complex nanocomposite fiber whose physical appearance and mechanical strength are governed by a variety of factors like ethnicity, cleaning, grooming, chemical treatments and environment. Characterization of mechanical properties of hair is essential to develop better cosmetic products and advance biological and cosmetic science. Hence the behavior of hair under tension is of interest to beauty care science. Human hair fibers experience tensile forces as they are groomed and styled. Previous researches about tensile testing of human hair were seemingly focused on the longitudinal direction, such as elastic modulus, yield strength, breaking strength and strain at break after different treatment. In this research, experiment of evaluating the mechanical properties of human hair, such as Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio, was designed and conducted. The principle of the experimental instrument was presented. The system of testing instrument to evaluate the Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio was introduced. The range of Poisson's ratio of the hair from the identical person was evaluated. Experiments were conducted for testing the mechanical properties after acid, aqueous alkali and neutral solution treatment of human hair. Explanation of Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio was conducted base on these results of experiments. These results can be useful to hair treatment and cosmetic product.

Abstract:To study the influence of warp knitting on the properties of vortex spinning polyester yarn (VSPY), three kinds of structures were knitted with VSPY compared with compact spinning cotton yarn (CSCY). The mechanical properties and appearance performance of the yarns before and after warp knitting and the yarn tension during warp knitting were tested. The results demonstrated that the yarn tension fluctuation and maximum tension of VSPY were smaller than that of CSCY, and with the increase of under lapping, the average yarn tension of yarns was reduced. After warp knitting, due to the wrapped fiber of VSPY being damaged, the mechanical properties of VSPY decreased. The breaking strength, elongation, and wear resistance of VSPY were 18.4%, 85.9%, and 30.4% higher than those of CSCY, respectively. With the increase of under lapping, the damage of breaking strength and elongation of VSPY decreased. The hairiness index (S3) of the original VSPY was 0.06/m, and the S3 of CSCY was about 62 times that of VSPY. After warp knitting, the S3 of VSPY was 0/m, and that of CSCY was 0.17/m. It is concluded that the VSPY is more suitable than the CSCY for warp knitting.

Abstract:The wicking ability of the fabric is one of the most important parameters that affect the comfort of clothing. Silk is a natural long-fiber material, and researching the water-absorption properties of natural silk yarn helps in developing textile products with specific performance characteristics, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of textiles in the market. This research aims to analyze the wicking behavior of silk yarn simulating their interlaced conditions when they were woven. To investigate the effect of yarn twist and yarn fineness, 13 different silk yarns were examined in individual and interlaced scenarios. Results showed that both yarn twist and fineness affect the wicking performance, and the permeability and capillary hydraulic diameter were calculated. A comparison of experimental results and best theoretical fits according to Fries and Dryer's proposed model. On the other hand, a good correlation was observed between the wicking length of single yarns and interlaced yarns. This suggests that the characteristics of single yarn can be potentially used for predicting the wicking behavior of woven textiles, where yarns form interlacements. This study can usher in innovations and enhancements that can benefit future virtual clothing design and real-world wear.
